Sneak Peek: Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks Photos & Swatches | All 120 Shades

Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks
Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks

Here’s your one-stop shop for swatches of all 120 shades of Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.), arranged approximately by color. To recap, there are 120 shades with six finishes with many of the shades from past Revolution formulas returning. They are all permanent, and the official launch date is June 5th. You can also find all of the swatches and images loaded into the Swatch Gallery, where you can also refine by undertone, finish, color, etc.

I have decided that while I am working on testing them, after I have tested a few from each finish, I will post swatches by finish and give some first impressions/information regarding each finish at that time, which I hope will be a helpful way to get a better idea of quality since I won’t have all shades reviewed by the launch date. I will be sure to include dupes, talk about packaging, compare to past formulations/shades, and so forth as I post actual reviews, so please sit tight! 🙂

For full launch information, including finishes, availability (20 shades are exclusive to Sephora, 20 will not be at Sephora), as well as which lip pencils are returning (and being added), please check out our original launch post here.

P.S. — Because this post is SO long and would make scrolling on mobile a total nightmare, everything is behind the cut (if you’re on the home page), so make sure to click the “continue reading” button if you see it!

I cannot imagine how you will be testing these all! Especially since you even test them for wear time and such! Anyways I did find a few of the shades interesting which I suppose is the least you expect from a 120 color collection.

Alicia Avatar

Dang Christine! You’ve been busy!

Great swatches. I’m happy to see many of the favorites returning.

Although I may be a little sad that it appear Beso didn’t make the cut….

Wildviolette Avatar

You’re lovely and amazing for doing all this work! THANK YOU! This will be incredibly helpful once they are released.

BreTheMakeupGeek Avatar

Thank you so much Christine!! woosh my lips would’ve been sore, fortunately for me the only color that I’m lusting for is Oblivion, welp UD lost me with making the lippies flat headed, good thing their permanent!

Zoe Avatar

Stunning post. You are the golden standard of makeup blogging.

Wishlist: Trance, Wildfire, Broken, Hitch Hike, Back Door, Liquid, Amulet, Conspiracy, Blackmail, Studded

Kate Avatar

You’ll laugh, but one of the first things that I thought when I saw the announcement of this line was “OMG, Christine’s poor lips!!” Seriously, incredible work getting all of these swatched and I look forward to hearing what you have to say about the different finishes.

Rachael Avatar

120 shades but not one of them the perfect mauve (Infamous by Marc Jacob <3) nor a red with strong gold glitter. Basically need wildfire and fbomb to have a baby. Le sigh.

Claire L Avatar

Wow, you did such a great job getting all the swatches and photos up! I love all the glimmery ones and want to get at least one each of the purples, browns and vamps/unusual colours! I’ll try to stay away from the pinks and reds since I already have quite a few, haha!

Kylie5 Avatar

I have to agree. Before I buy Any makeup product I always Look if there is a swatch from temptalia. And it is the only blog from which I have the newsletter.
I Do not know, maybe I have not Seen it. I would really be interested in all your eye makeup looks. They Are always in the Posts for new eyeshadow collections or palettes. But there is no category with all the looks ? Am I Right? Like the swatch Gallery but with your eye Looks.

Christine Avatar

Hi Kylie,

There is an older Looks section, when I actually posted standalone looks, but over the last few years, I primarily test products on a day-to-day basis to the point where one eye has this set of shades and the other eye has a totally different set! The cheeks may have two colors, and they may not coordinate at all with the eyes, LOL. I am going to try to upload more of the decent eye looks to the looks’ section of my profile – the ones that don’t look like a total mess (sometimes the products are bad… and they look that way!).

Maria Avatar

Whew, this was the longest Temptalia post ever! LOL
No, but, I really wanted to thank you for this Vice lipstick round-up. I look to your blog when considering products to purchase and I must admit that this particular post was extremely helpful. I’ve always liked the UD lipsticks and these sure do look great. Based on your swatches, I’ve already compiled a list of the different colors/tones that will be making their way into my PRO makeup kit soon. I’m hoping UD let’s pro members use their discount on these puppies really soon! 🙂 Thanks Christine.

Selenite Avatar

God, what a workload. This is a beautiful collection of colors though. Thrilled to see some favorites stay and make a return. I actually like that the new packaging is a nod to the classic 90’s bullet packaging. Many of have felt since L’Oreal bought them that Urban Decay lost their edge.

Penny Avatar

Thank you for posting 🙂 This looks amazing and I can’t wait to visit a Sephora store to check these out. Are there times when you feel overwhelmed with reviewing so many lipsticks at once? Sometimes i wonder if you can get burned out from reviewing all these goodies and now they are part of your collection 😉

Christina Avatar

1. HOLY COW, that’s a lot of work. Thanks for swatching them all– I bet your lips are TIRED.
2. Lined up like that, there are so many that are so similar. I’m sure there are differences in finish but 100 was maybe overkill.
3. That said, Wildfire is a BEAUT. And I’m glad to have a cruelty free option for when my Mac O runs out. Conspiracy looks really close.

Aline Avatar

I just wanted to thank you for your work on this. I can only imagine what your poor lips went through. I think we’d all understand if you took a break from reviewing lipstick for a while. 😉

Genevieve Avatar

OMG – Christine you have done a stellar job testing these lipsticks. I hope your lips are recovering well…

Many of the lipsticks look very similar to each other and UD could have probably cut this selection down by half.
Some of them look great and some look pretty patchy. This tends to happen when a large collection is released like this. Lots of beautiful colours though.

popscockles Avatar

Amazing, amazing work here, Christine! Kudos and thank you for getting this up so quick. I love how elegant and well-designed your swatches are, the layout you have going on for these is just delightful! And, boy, I see so many lipsticks I want… I’m glad the price is a little lower, but I see 10+ must-haves… I’m loving the glittery ones especially!

Thanks again!! 🙂 Great work!

Audri Avatar

SO SO SO EXCITED FOR THIS LAUNCH!!! Thank you SO much for all of your hard work! I’ve already cultivated a list of my “must-haves” which will probably break the bank but they’re so lovely I don’t care! My faves include: Violate, Cruz, ZZ, Twitch, Vanity Kills, Notorious, Hitch Hike, Disturbed, Alpha, Savage, Checkmate, Trust, and Crisis!

Bonnie Avatar

Christine, I can’t thank you enough for the swatching marathon! The photos are extremely helpful when making a purchase – or just window shopping for fun. ? Here’s my list of fav pretties: Psycho, Menace, Jilted, Alpha, Tryst, Violate, Crisis, Oblivion, Backtalk, Afterdark, & Trance. Will wait on the reviews.

KJH Avatar

I asked everyone with lipstick on, at my beknighted night job, if they were psyched about 120 colors of UD. Uniformly, the answer was yes. Then I told them that Temptalia had all the swatches up. ‘No ($&(, ! That can’t be true. No way. Seriously? That can’t be done already. You are lying to me. Oh, bs!’ Nobody believed you actually had accomplished this. It truly is an amazing feat. Audacious was just a warm-up. You deserve Jack Black for two weeks and a long rest. What a marathon. And they say Pike’s Peak is tough! Thank you.

Natalia Paz Avatar

I hope they get to Chile soon! (Gwen Stefani collection took easily 6 months to get here…) We ‘ve had Urban Decay for over a year in my country and it´s amazing I´m so in love with their lipsticks, I´ve got some of these but for sure I´m hoarding for some of these.

Thanks Christine!!! I love and admire the work you do

a fan from South America 🙂

Grace Avatar

Well, THAT is overwhelming. Kudos to you, Christine, for all the hard work. But I don’t entirely get the motivation on Urban Decay’s part. I find that I just get boggled down by so many choices. It’s easy to choose one lipstick out of a collection of five or ten, but, out of 120, I feel like I wouldn’t buy ANY of them, just to save myself the stress and exhaustion of the research and decision-making. Am I alone in this?

Cat Avatar

As lovely as your lips are… I wouldn’t want to be them right now! Wow, that’s a lot of lipstick! It’s actually overwhelming for me. I don’t know how I’ll ever decide which (besides, maybe, Violate) to pick up. Thank you for your invested time and effort with these!

Laura Avatar

WOW!!! I’m so excited for the reviews, thanks so much for taking on this huge project and reviewing them all, Christine! I was just wondering, has the shade Turn On been discontinued? I thought I had seen it in the list of new shades, but I guess I was mistaken?

Claire L Avatar

That’s kind of the point of UD names, they’re meant to be ‘urban with an edge’, haha! It’s definitely not Chanel or Christian Dior, lol!

Marta G. Avatar

I’m eyeing Hitch Hike and Crisis. They look great for everyday wear. Two ‘oldies’ (Rapture and 1993) are on my wishlist too. I’ll wait for some time to buy some though, because I just snagged Bad Blood, Sheer Liar and Bittersweet on their sale! Here’s hoping that they get good grades on your reviews. Thanks for the hard work, Christine!

Kelly Avatar

I do not even know where to start with these, so many nice colors I would like at some point. Luckily I got a bunch of the others at half off so they will tide me over for now.

Definitely bookmarking this post for future reference. So, so helpful! Bless your heart for doing all this, Christine. I cannot imagine what the editing put your eyes through and what the lipsticks put your lips through! Mine would be a cracked chapped mess for weeks.

It’s convenient, easy to view posts like this that made me first start coming here years ago and keep me coming back. My favorite beauty blogger always! 🙂

Helene Avatar

There are a few I don’t want in this release, but just a few. It will be so hard to pick.
Awesome post, this. It will be interesting to keep reading the reviews.
That huge box filled with all the lipsticks! Wow! Also this post had me getting wider, and wider eyes, had I been a cartoon, I’d now be enclosed in my eyelids, inside out! Sorry for that rather horrid image 🙂 It was just so a wow factor to see them all swatched.
I know, it’s just makeup, get real, so I will. Going to walk the dog and smell the flowers now 🙂

Heather Avatar

I need about 20 of these in my life, in addition to the Gwen Stefani re promotes I already own… And another spinning lipstick tower now!

Really loving the metallics. Also particularly loving the unique shades like Junkie and Heroine. Thought Heroine might dupe MAC Matte Royale – but that one is much more purple. I have a couple of greens already but nothing remotely like Junkie. I have quite a few pinks but never seen anything like Big Bang – already like the lipgloss besides the fact that it’s too sheer for my taste – which will be solved by this! Crash is a more yellow toned orange than any others I have. And really impressed with Studded – reminds me of a metallic version of MAC Stone which I love. Really excited about Jawbreaker and Twitch because I have mostly red toned purples and these are blue toned – Twitch reminds me of the Kat Von D Ayesha liquid lip that I love, but I prefer non-liquid lipstick. Finally Perversion looks more opaque than the black I already have which is surprisingly flattering – something I didn’t expect from a black. Great vampy shades – I don’t suit them well but Blackmail is stunning. Going for Unicorn, Heartless, and Menace too, when I can. I had a sample of Menace and loved it.

This is going to tie up my bank account for weeks!
