Editor's Review

Urban Decay Hitch Hike Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a "brick rose [with a Comfort Matte finish]." It's a medium-dark rosy plum with warm undertones and a creamy finish. It had rich color payoff with a very smooth, creamy consistency that glides onto lips and just makes lips look plumper. This shade wore well for five and a half hours and was lightly hydrating. Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala (LE, $18.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Revlon Want It All (P, $12.39) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Estee Lauder Bois de Rose (P, $32.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Laura Mercier Cozy (P, $24.00) is brighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Hitch Hike (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Bittersweet (03) (LE, $55.00) is more shimmery, glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Dr. Facilier (LE, $8.00) is darker (90% similar). Tarte Surf's Up (P, $21.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Trip (DC, $18.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). NARS G*psy (P, $26.00) is darker (85% similar). Dior Ultra Crave (843) (P, $37.00) is darker (85% similar). ColourPop Faded (P, $7.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Cranberry (P, $29.00) is darker (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Plum (P, $29.00) is darker (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Soft Berry (DC, $37.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Bite Beauty Chai (DC, $24.00) is more muted, cooler, glossier (85% similar). elf Standing Ovation (P, $9.00) is lighter (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Shush, Blush (P, $28.00) is cooler (85% similar). Revlon Blushing Nude (P, $8.49) is more shimmery, less pigmented, glossier (85% similar). ColourPop Marmalade (LE, $7.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

This color is amazing. For some reason, it photographed much lighter than it is when applied. It's a midtone-too darkish burnt coral lipstick with some rose in it/ which looks wonderful on those of us with neutral to warm complexions. If you have auburn hair, I'd strongly recommend this shade. I have naturally quite dry and full lips and can't tolerate most matte lipsticks because I have problems with cracking if the formulas are drying. On the other hand, too creamy and I just eat it off within two hours! I wish it were a tad more moisturizing, but since it lasts so long, I can deal with it. This formula is a happy medium--it's as if a matte and a creamy lipstick had a baby, and it came out with the best traits of both. I was worried, from the packaging, that I wasn't going to get a lot of product, but that hasn't been a problem because it lasts so long. I know the package is supposed to look like a shell casing, but it reminds me of my granny's lipstick cases, which were all polished metals instead. Now if the makeup companies would start selling refills, that would be fabulous!
