Year in Review | The Top 100 Highest-Rated Beauty Products of 2015

Here’s a look at the top 100 products reviewed over the last year, plus a summary of how many products and brands were reviewed and a break out of ratings! 🙂 Now, this is strictly according to the rating a product received. For those who look forward to my personal favorites from the year (which are more subjective and are by category, e.g. lips), I will be sharing them starting tomorrow! 🙂

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Wow, what a great list! Will keep this list handy and watch for sales/promos. Looks like MUFE and Viseart dominate for best shadows, hoping Viseart will release some new kits in 2016

Wow, this list is fantastic! Thanks for compiling this for us, Christine! I see so many of my favorite MUFE eyeshadows here, and one of my favorite blushes, Clinique Cola Pop, which I found really did work perfectly fine over that BB cream IF I set the BB first before applying this blush. Trial and error, and finally success. Never had any issues with it over foundation though!

Wow!! So photos, testing, and write-ups of nearly 10 products every single day!! I’m exhausted just thinking about it!! So thank you for your hard work and amaz dedication. Interesting list! warm toned products DOMINATE this list! Whether that’s a reflection of the quantity or quality of cool-toned products released this year (or both!), here’s hoping that 2016 fares a little better for us cool-toned gals! Also, no lip glosses made this list, so maybe there will be some great new products coming out (probably wishful thinking, since the matte lip trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere).

It is funny, because it shows me how much more I could review, though I am not sure I can ACTUALLY do so.

Cool-toned products are lacking in makeup for sure. I often find that there are far less options when I pull a top 5 _______ list if I’ve split it into warm/cool. I don’t know why, though, because it seems like there are lots of neutral/cool-toned people (and I like cool-tones on me, even though I am warm!).

This is a sensational list and it’s amazing how many great eye shadows come from MUFE and Colour Pop, whereas the lipsticks and blushes are from a range of brands.
Thank you so much for this – a lot of work has been put into compiling it.
Happy New Year Christine and I hope you and your family are going to enjoy it. It has been a big year for you – relocating and revamping your blog. Hopefully, you will get to put your feet up….

Out of the 100 I have 1 (one)!? I could have had two if I had bought Peridot today. I was holding it, but decided not to buy it. I could have one or so more of the MUFE if they are in Artist Shadows 1, I didn’t check.
Oh, the one I have, the chartreause green MUFE eyeshadow, A fantastic, happy yet edgy colour. I love it.
You have done a fantastic job all year, Christine. It’s a joy to read your reviews and to read the comments from the fantastic Temptalia community, the comments are interesting, fun, and often very helpful.
A Very Happy New Year to you and to all who participates with comments here, you are all awesome!

Thanks, Christine. I missed the original review and should have realized all of your items linked in (because your site is so user-friendly). I hope this does not mean all of the sizes are reducing to 0.06oz. Part of the reason I justify spending $29 on a single Burberry shadow is the size. Reducing the size by 33% with no reduction in the price may be a deal breaker for me. The funny thing is I’ve never finished a single shadow in my life, so it really should not matter if it is 0.06oz or 0.09oz.

Oh you must get Burberry Nude No 2!! It’s so pigmented you only need one swipe, will take you forever to finish that pan. I held out for the longest time because of the $29 price, but after reading all the rave reviews, I caved and no regrets. I have a big stash of shadows, and it’s probably one of my top 5 faves. Goes with everything, very flattering shade, and the packaging is so luxe.

Wow this is an amazing list. Viseart, MUFE, and Colourpop (eye products and the highlighter) and Clinique Cheek Pops are big winners it seems. BTW It seemed like you reviewed way more than 60ish MUFE products!

Hi Christine-

This is a great list, and I really appreciate the hard work you consistently put into the blog, but maybe you could consider putting the list contents after a cut or something? I often read your blog on my phone, and it took forever to scroll down past this post on mobile. Just a thought!

I’m tempted by that Burberry shadow up top! I think it might be worth the splurge since it’s a shade I could/would wear almost every day. Or maybe that MUFE Taupe Platinum… Or maybe MUFE Iced Brown… Or Golden Beige. I think I need to invest in some MUFE neutrals!

I just think those shimmery medium browns are perfect for everyday to just pop on the lid with a little matte brown or bronzer in the crease and you’re good to go.

Christine Avatar

Viseart is your traditional powder eyeshadow, whereas most of the MUFE Artist range is almost like a cream-powder hybrid in feel, though they’re ultimately a powder. The mattes are more similar, as the MUFE Mattes feel like regular powder eyeshadows to me.

Happy New Year Christine.
Thank you for helping us through the product maze.
I look forward to 2016 and all the exciting new to come. Along with favourites that never date.

I don’t quite get the point of naming shadows that are only available in palettes. I might like the single shadow, but it’s disappointing to find out it’s not available as a single shadow.

Christine Avatar

Thanks for your feedback!

We did omit limited edition palette shades from appearing, but the issue of eliminating entirely is that products that are available–say Urban Decay, MAC, Make Up For Ever–would also be excluded, because they do appear in palettes, so we made it so permanent palette products are left in.

That’s quite the compilation, Christine! Thank you for your thoughtful reviews across such a wide range of products. I’ve expanded my beauty horizons, thanks to your blog and your blog community.

I hope 2016 brings you many adventures and much happiness.

I find most colors interesting but despite the size of my stash, I have very few. I do have and love Clinique Color pop blushes. Very fun. I may have some of the shadows. Have to check. I’m big on UD.
