ColourPop Butterfly Beach & Wisp Super Shock Cheeks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Butterfly Beach Super Shock Cheek
ColourPop Butterfly Beach Super Shock Cheek ($8.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “soft peach with highlights of gold and silver.” It’s a rich, coppery bronze with warm, reddish undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented and applied easily with fingertips or a duo-fiber stippling brush. Despite the really metallic sheen, it didn’t emphasize pores, but it may be too reflective/shiny for some. This shade wore exceptionally well and seemed to stay in place for nine and a half hours with barely any fading detected. Laura Geller Ballerina (P, $24.00) is a powder, less metallic. MAC Superb (LE, $30.00) is darker, not quite as warm-toned. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
ColourPop Wisp Super Shock Cheek ($8.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “golden champagne.” It’s a golden bronze with warm undertones and a golden, metallic sheen. It had good color payoff–opaque with fingertips and then sheerer depending on how feathery/dense your brush is–and as described. The texture is lightly creamy, smooth, and extremely blendable on the skin. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading. ColourPop Most Necessary (P, $8.00) is more orange. ColourPop Butterfly Beach (P, $8.00) is darker, more red-toned. Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment (Original) (P, $26.00) is lighter. ColourPop Double Dip (LE, $8.00) is lighter. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is less shimmery. NARS Frenzy (Left) (P) is lighter, powder. Kevyn Aucoin Tropical Days (P, $48.00) is darker, powder. Too Faced Snow Bunny (P) is warmer, powder. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is a powder. Urban Decay Gilded (P, $26.00) is darker, powder. MAC Global Glow (P, $30.00) is darker, powder. MAC Whisper of Gilt (LE, $30.00) is lighter, powder. I ended up wearing these for wear testing for our Mother’s Day celebration (we did ours on Saturday), and I thought I’d share photos of the two together for comparison since they seemed close in the pot/swatched. In the look below, the eyes are Charlotte Tilbury Norma Jean, Marie Antoinette, Mona Lisa, and Cleopatra Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadows with Sephora Deep Rose Lipgloss on lips. I used IT Cosmetics CC+ SPF 50 as base and set with Urban Decay Naked Loose Setting Powder. Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂

Wow! How does this compare with Chanel’s Lumiere d’Ete Illuminating powder? I want something similar to the Chanel without the price tag. The Hourglass one that is similar got an A minus rating too. Do you have a personal preference to help me make a choice. I won’t be able to see any of these in person.
Chanel and Hourglass have more color with less shimmer, and the finish on both of those is much, much subtler. Both of the ColourPop ones are going to deliver a more metallic, high-shine finish, so you really have to think about what kind of finish you prefer and whether you prefer a powder or cream product!
It’s the shine that’s got my attention and colour pop is so affordable I will have to give this a try! So between the Hourglass and Chanel, do you have a personal preferance? I am prone to buying more products that I need :-))))
The color of Chanel is easier to wear, as it doesn’t pull quite as yellow! 🙂
How beautiful these are! Especially Butterfly Beach!!! Another addition to my ever burgeoning ColorPop wishlist. Thank you so much for bringing this brand into the spotlight for us, Christine! I think I need to leave MAC and Sephora alone for a month and *finally* place my ColorPop order…so many really wonderful goodies to get!
My pleasure, Nancy! I love being able to share really affordable, great products 😀
these look INCREDIBLE! waaah. Still waiting for Colourpop to ship to India.
I really hope they add India to the list soon!
Ahhh Wisp is so beautiful! I’m so getting it even though I’m NC15 pale, I still think it would work as a light dusting all over the face or over a bronzer rather than just the highest points! But I can’t wait until I get more tan, it looks beautiful on your skintone 🙂
I definitely think it’ll still work on fairer skin tones! Super easy to sheer out.
I decided against both of these but I think I’ll go back for them next month. Not sure about Wisp though. How do you think Wisp would appear on super fair skin? Brownish/bronzey? Or more like dirty gold?
I don’t think it’ll be a dirty gold – there’s enough brown and red in it that I think it should work. Not strongly yellow/orange.
Butterfly Beach is the most misleading pan ever! I never would have called that colour bronze until I saw it swatched out/applied!
Haha! Yes, these seem to swatch darker than they appear in the pan, which is actually not uncommon for really frosty/sparkly/metallic products – as I have learned!
Ooh, both are very pretty!
They are!
Butterfly beach is one of my picks from the collection. I have been wearing the Geller Ballerina dupe daily since I bought it and really love the product, texture, colour, everything! These are unusual choices for me, so I hope I can pull off Ballerina’s darker, more shimmery sister… but critically for my sallowish skintones, it does not look orange. Yay! I grabbed Wisp too. I found it brutally difficult to narrow down my choices..so many pretties. I ended up picking up 4 in total: Butterfly Beach, Wisp, Teasecake and Sticky Sweet. It’s so easy to be enthusiastic over quality products at a reasonable price. My order has shipped should be here in a couple of weeks.
Love, love Ballerina so much. It’s earned a spot in my regular cheek products drawer!
Can’t wait to see how these work for you, Wendy.
Omg I need beach!! Love it!
It’s lovely!
These are too warm for me, but look lovely on you !
Thanks, Katherine! Hopefully reviewing some of the cooler-toned ones soon! 🙂
Both shades are beautiful but Butterfly Beach is just stunning. I absolutely must have it!!
It would be great on you, Fancie!
I love how butterfly beach looks on you but I think it might be too much for me (cool toned fair). Which one would you recommend? Ps love you and the blog. One of the first things I check every morning!
Thank you, Chelsea! For recommendation, of all the highlighters or just between these two? Between these two, Wisp is going to be easier to wear, I think 🙂
Butterfly Beach is waiting in my cart already! Just waiting for Boba to come back in stock but I don’t know how much longer I can hold out… this looks GORGEOUS!
Hopefully they restock it soon!!
Both swatch a lot darker toned than they look in the pan
They do! It’s actually more common when you have a cream product or even one that’s really shimmery!
Wow! amazing it’s really very beautiful. I really like the butterfly cheek. I will try it in future in upcoming day. Really a well look. Thank you for your article.
Hope you can try it, Raji!
I ordered both! So glad that they got good grades and now I can’t wait to get them. I also got some items from their summer collection including one of the new bronzers 🙂
Woohoo!! 🙂 Can’t wait for you to get your goodies, Beti!
Stunning! Butterfly Beach is too dark for me, but Wisp might work.
Wisp should work!
Sometimes I wonder what would be the difference between this and the many shimmery shadows of the same color.
Sometimes it is the formula or the type of ingredients they use 🙂
These look awesome on you I especially like butterfly beach tho, beautiful!
Thanks so much, Malia! 🙂
I’m starting to sounds like a broken record here, but again: super pretty on you! Not suitable for me though. I’d look like a glittery greaseball.
Thank you 🙂 I doubt you’d look like a greaseball!
I love Whisp so much! But they are both beautiful! I love your Mother’s Day look!
Thank you, Agata!
Those coppery bronzes look *beautiful* on you. 🙂
Excited for your reviews of the other shades!
Thank you, Heather!
Wow, Butterfly Beach is SO pretty. Looks like I will be placing a 6th order, this brand has yet to disappoint! That lipgloss is really lovely too, I always overlook Sephora brand products, but I may have to check that out. Thanks for the review, it is hard to tell how these will look on the face from the pan.
Happy to share, Michelle! 🙂 So glad you’ve been loving their products, too!
Hmm, been wanting to get Soft and gently by MAC but since these are so great, I wonder if there might be a dupe for that one in one of these by CP.
Could be!
Ooh are these eye safe? Both would make gorgeous eyeshadows!!
They don’t say, since they’re cheek products (they don’t have to say, as they’re only designed as a cheek product).
They look so similar on!
They do!
I have both of these and I love them! I’ve literally alternated each shade on my face since the day I got them. I love that I can apply a tiny bit and blend for more of a sheen or layer on more when I feel like looking like a disco ball (haha!)
YAY!
I really like wisp! Do you think it would be too dark for me? I’m an NW15 in mac.
I don’t think it’ll be too dark!
