Urban Decay Fall 2015 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay 1993 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil
Urban Decay 1993 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “medium brown.” It’s a medium, caramel brown with warm, yellow undertones and a soft matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage with a lightly creamy, glide-on consistency that wore for six hours on me. MAC Nice ‘n’ Spicy (P, $19.50) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Bad Blood 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “deep red.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was richly pigmented, covered evenly, and lasted for eight hours. Urban Decay 69 (P, $19.00) is cooler. MAC RiRi Woo (LE, $19.50) is cooler. Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace (LE, $19.00) is brighter, cooler. MAC Cherry (P, ) is cooler. MAC Freehand (LE, $15.00) is cooler. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Bittersweet 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “bright purple.” It’s a brightened, fuchsia magenta with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque coverage, but I noticed that the texture of the pencil was firmer and didn’t glide on as easily as other shades. This shade lasted for six hours on its own. MAC Heroine (LE, ) is darker. MAC Fashion Boost (LE, $19.50) is darker. MAC Shock Value (P, $19.50) is lighter, brighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Blackmail 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “deep berry wine.” It’s a berry-burgundy with subtle, cool red undertones and a matte finish. This is probably one of the worst performing shades I’ve tried from the entire range of 24/7 Lip Pencils! It was semi-opaque with streaky, uneven color that tended to “thicken” in places. It may have lasted for eight hours, but it was clingy and somewhat drying over time. MAC Nightmoth (P, ) is darker, cooler. MAC Talk That Talk (LE, $19.50) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay Stark Naked 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “light nude.” It’s a light, yellowed peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation with a creamy, glide-on texture that was easy to use and didn’t tug at the lips. This shade wore well for six hours on its own. MAC Etcetera (P, $19.50) is darker, more muted. MAC Subculture (P, ) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) is supposed to be a “creamy” pencil that “glides on smoothly” that prevents feathering and improve longevity. The formula is creamy and glides on easily; it doesn’t pull, tug, or drag across the lips. Lip liners are one of my least favorite products to swatch on lips, because they can be really rough across the lips and doing more than one or two of them back-to-back is usually a recipe for sore lips later on. I love how creamy, and almost wax-like, these feel, so they really go on smoothly without a lot of tug and don’t need a ton of pressure to get the color to adhere to the lips. They wear anywhere from six to eight hours on their own, and I typically find they add a few hours to my favorite lipstick if I use it underneath. They aren’t drying for me, though if your lips are naturally dry, then not having any hydrating element (say if you wore these alone) may leave your lips feeling dry after an eight-hour time period.

Christine, are these twist up or do they require sharpening? (the dumbest idea EVER!) If they’re twist up, I may well get Bad Blood as I love the look of the Mrs. Mia Wallace lipstick and I missed out on it.
Okay, having looked more closely at the photos, I am thinking they do need sharpening (did I ever say “dumbest idea EVER”?) and they look quite dry (even if they feel nice, they look dry) though Bad Blood looks less dry than the others…
They’re really the only lip pencil I’d reach for willingly – so many are soooo dry!
I’m like 95% sure they’re ones you sharpen, since that’s how the 24/7 liners have been (and based on how much they contain, lol).
I’m always tempted when I see these, but all in all i think I’d rather spend my money on something else like a new lipstick – I don’t use a lip liner, I don’t really feel like I’m missing out on anything or have problems with feathering of bleeding.
I love your eye makeup by the way – reminds me of autumn leaves!
Oh and it’s not a colour I’d personally wear but Bittersweet looks so pretty and you totally pull it off.
Thank you! xo
Thanks, A! I rarely use lip liner on the rare off day – it is an extra step that I don’t find necessary, but it’s a useful product if one does have issues with feathering/bleeding/longevity, though!
I would love to see UD put out a lip liner set for the holidays. I do love the formula but at $24CAN they do add up price wise.
That would be awesome!
I’d take minis even. 😉
Usually I’m drawn to the cool shades, but 1993 looks absolutely amazing on you!
Thank you!
I’ll definitely be getting the bad blood pencil, as I was able to get the gorgeous Ms Mia Wallace lipstick. .but not the pencil. For reds, I have to have a lip pencil as well! Also, I will need stark naked, because well…me and nudes will never end!
The pencil should be good for Ms. Mia Wallace!
UD does lipliners well. I thought Blackmail would be better, though.
I was surprised – the lipstick is almost better on its own, lol!
Definitely gonna check out Stark Naked!
Awesome!
The Urban Decay rep for my store told me that Bad Blood is Mrs. Mia Wallace, same for the lipstick. I guess it’s an acceptable dupe when I run out of my precious Mrs. Mia Wallace.
Thanks for sharing, Laura!
If so, then I must have BOTH!
I always have to wear lip liner because my bottom lip doesn’t have a very precise, natural line, so lipstick tends to migrate and turn into clown lips. I might be in the minority, but I prefer my lip liners to be drier, as they tend to stay on longer, so I can usually buy cheapie drugstore ones. Or the one that got the C- rating for being clingy and dry (Blackmail) is probably right up my alley LOL Nevertheless, some of these colors are quite pretty, especially Bad Blood
I think if you’re only doing the outer edge, dry isn’t so bad. It’s when you need to fill-in that it starts to get painful!
1993 comes off like a pink brown on me. When people ask what I’m wearing, I tell them They look at me like what else you have on with 1993. I just say nothing it’s the lipstick and matching lip pencil LOL. I’m a macNC 45 for reference.
lol!
Not keen on the matte finished look of these, maybe ok if only used as liners.
I think they’re intended more to be used as liners, though of course you can fill-in and wear on their own!
Wow Christine ! the photos and swatches are amazing, the naked shade and the bloddy shades are so beautiful, It’s a really good discovery for me thank you very much !
Thanks, Sakura!
I really like all of these, will probably be checking out 1993 to start, but I am a fan of all the colours. Bittersweet looks pretty much exactly like something I already have, right down to the finish.
1993 should be a versatile lip liner!
Bad Blood and Blackmail would be my favourite colours. Personally I am not into lip liners as such, but these are lovely.
Totally understand 🙂
Oh. My. Goodness. Bad Blood is to die for, drop-dead gorgeous! I need this one!!! And also really love the look of 1993, but already have a ton of neutral tone or brownish lipliners, so I probably won’t buy that one.
As for Blackmail….uhhh what did UD do there? That looks horrid, dry, and sooo patchy! Eewww, UD!
It is so much drier than the rest!
It’s really weird that it doesn’t seem to have the same smooth, creamy formula of all the other shades, I *must* buy Bad Blood!
I wound up going back to get Bittersweet, Blacknail, and 1993 after buying the lipsticks and falling in love with them. I’m a regular lip- liner wearing gal though. They are not a must with these lipsticks imo- except for Blackmail maybe. Funny thing is,that is the lipstick that fell a little short in the reviews. The liner alone- I agree, I wouldn’t wear. But for crisp edges and for a light first base under the lipstick. It makes Blackmail awesome! I would have picked up Bad Blood . But. I have 2 x Mrs Mia Wallace. I took it to Ulta. They swatch identical enough to me. I’m glad to know there is a replacement for when I get through those. I love UD lip liners. Along with MJB 3 nude colored offereings, these are tops in my books!
So happy to hear you’re enjoying the three you picked up, Nicole! I think Blackmail (the liner) is a lot easier to use just as an outer-edge lip liner (not to fill in, that’s when it gets tricky) for a good match to the lipstick!
I like Bad Blood and Bittersweet.
Good picks 🙂
Bad Blood! yes to Bad Blood. 🙂
Yay!
I’m so sad they discontinued their previous lip liners line ! I lost my Naked one and wanted to get a replacement but they don’t have it anymore. Do you know if they have a dupe in the new collection to replace Naked ?
They didn’t discontinue it? Naked is still on their website.
Damn it! I wanted blackmail to be better!
Me too!
