Too Faced Melted Chihuahua Melted Liquified Long-Wear Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “dusty mauve.” It’s a muted, medium peachy-brown with a hint of rose and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had rich, opaque color payoff that covered really evenly and smoothly without pulling into lip lines. On m e, the color lasted for six hours, which is on the shorter side for the formula, but still a longer-wearing lip product. It was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Persistence (P, $16.00) is darker, less glossy. Estee Lauder Discreet (P, $30.00) is darker, cooler. Bite Beauty Marzipan (P, $28.00) is darker. Maybelline Touchable Taupe (940) (P, $7.49) is darker, cooler. NARS Het Loo (P, $25.00) is darker, less glossy. MAC Glamour Era (P, $22.00) is darker, cooler, less glossy. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Marion (P, $18.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Too Faced Melted Melon Melted Liquified Long-Wear Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “guava.” It’s a bold, brightened, near-neon coral-orange with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It was intensely pigmented with full coverage achieved with little product. The texture is lightweight, comfortable, and sits well on the lips. The color wears on and on for nearly eight hours and leaves behind a warm red stain behind. It feels slightly drying after six hours of wear. Bite Beauty Crush (P, $28.00) is cooler. Tom Ford Beauty True Coral (P, $50.00) is darker. MAC Toxic Tale (LE, $16.00) is darker, cooler. Hourglass Muse (P, $28.00) is darker, less glossy. Estee Lauder Defiant Coral (P, $30.00) is darker, cooler. Estee Lauder Defiant Coral (P, $30.00) is darker, cooler. Tom Ford Beauty Adriano (LE, $32.00) is darker, less glossy. ColourPop Frenemie (LE, $5.00) is darker, more muted, cooler, less glossy. NARS Kelly (P, $32.00) is cooler. MAC Toying Around (LE, $16.00) is cooler. Both of them are pretty on you! Not sure why Chihuahua is described as a mauve, I don’t see any mauve at all . Mauve would be Melted Fig

I’m just imagining this conversation: “What’s that on your lips? Whatever it is, itt looks really good on you!” “Oh, it’s melted chihuahua..” O_o

Awh man, Melted Chihuahua is a let down–I thought it would look more like the packaging color (i.e., pinker/actually mauve). This is just too orange/brown for me!

Astrild Avatar

I thought I’d like Melted Chihuahua looking at the packaging color, but it’s brown!!!. Melted melón is way too bright for me. Gorgeous shade, though.

I know it’s already been said multiple times, but what the heck is up with Chihuaua?! I get the ‘dusty’ part but mauve? I was super excited too since dustier mauves are my go-to MLBB shade; plus my pup is a Chihuahua mix so I liked the novelty of the name. But I despise peach lip shades for multiple reasons so this is a total pass :/.

It still looks great on you though!

These are BOTH really lovely looking on you! However, I find it quite problematic that because nearly ALL the Melteds are named after foods, Chihuahua??? As a half Mexican lady, let me just make one thing perfectly clear, just in case anyone was wondering ; we do NOT eat our Chihuahuas! LoL! What a bizarre name choice! How about instead calling Dulce De Leche or Caramel???

I remember reading that it was colored after someone’s actual dog, which is a chihuaha. I think it was the founder of Two Faced, but I could be wrong. It made a lot more sense after that.

AJ Avatar

I’m pretty sure it’s named after Jerrod’s dog, and the other names ARE Melted Fig, Melted Jelly Donut, etc… But Chihuahua is just that. Just Chihuahua. 🙂

Mary Avatar

Well ,the state has beautiful scenery, so I would think of a sunset or dawn in a beautiful place with a soft peachy mauve color…

Jones Avatar

Melted Dog will be the one I get. I’m a nude lip person and I can manipulate this with a brown liner for a nice neutral lip.

Huh, Melted Chihuahua doesn’t look mauve on you, but I just picked up Estee Lauder Discreet (which you listed as a dupe) and it looks pretty mauve-ish on me – not orange at all like it looks on you! So that might explain the confusing description. Weird how shades can look different like that.

Yeah, I bought Melted Chihuahua around a month ago and it reads very pinky-nude on me, with just a hint of the brown we see on Christine! I think it might be one of those colours that changes a lot depending on surrounding skin tone. I have light olive skin, if that helps.

Regardless, it’s a beautiful colour with a terrible name.

Kirsten Avatar

I have the Chihuahua and I love it! On me it looks more like a marsala color. Maybe my lips have a darker undertone. Have you ever tried mixing these products? I am wondering if some of the brighter ones would work better for me if I mixed them with the nude/more neutral shades or if they dry too quickly.

Meghan Avatar

I bought Melted Chihuahua after going through the colour descriptions on Sephora…biiiig fail. It’s almost a light chocolate brown, so it looks awful on my pale skin – I wonder if mixing it with a different melted lipstick would help?

Anie Avatar

That is really weird how your swatches look brownish, when I applied Chihuahua it was defiantly a dusty mauve on me. Wonder if you had a bad batch?

Karin Avatar

On me it’s definitely a pinky/purple brown. One of my faves and looks totally different than on Christine, really depends on your skin tone ( pale/ pink undertones). And personally I love the name!

Nars had a Chihuahua gloss, too, but not MELTED. IK that the LINE is Melted, but…. I have seen some tiny Mexican friends in that shade. If I were in a surrealist mood, I might get it to wear with one of my art parody shirts: Dali’s Persistence of Memory…with the melted clocks?…. one of which is lying over a black + tan dachshund. I’ve got my B+T Jussi in the Van Gogh Iris Garden, as the Raphaelite angel, etc. Cafe Press doesn’t make BT dachs in the Scream. 2 doors down was a little guy (moved) who liked to nap on the hot tar + fortunately did not pancake himself. Mini living speed bump. He was the TF shade + white. Buxom’s shadows are all dog breeds, too, no? I think it’s the melted aspect that disconcerts folks. Really liking your 2 liners/bottom. most of your photos draw me right to the liners + i have to sit on my hands to avoid ordering every sephora color i don’t have. Good Mood is sharpening away!
