ColourPop Throws It Back Fall 2015 Super Shock Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches (Part 1)
ColourPop Super Shock Shadows
ColourPop Supermodel Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “soft golden ivory.” It’s a brightening, light-medium golden beige with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nice pigmentation with a soft, blendable, and smooth texture that applied easily to the lid and didn’t emphasize the skin’s natural texture. It was still going strong after ten hours of wear. Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma (DC, $6.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Femme-Fi (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop I Spy Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “soft yellow peach.” It’s a light-medium orange with warm, yellow undertones and a satin sheen. It had good pigmentation, but the texture was drier and more challenging to apply as the color would turn patchy and just sit on the lid very unevenly. I couldn’t get it to look as smooth on the lid as it did on the skin, even when patting it on with fingertips. KVD Beauty Ludwin (PiP, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Melt Cosmetics Antique (PiP, ) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). KVD Beauty Geek (LE, ) is lighter (95% similar). Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie (DC, $6.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). The consistency is soft, smooth, and extremely blendable on the lid without losing its intensity. It had fantastic color payoff and was fully intact after ten hours of wear. Guerlain Petrouchka #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Gravitational (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). NARS Isolde #2 (DC, $25.00) is cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Stereo Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “blackened burgundy with copper and pink violet duo chrome glitter.” It’s a deepened, burgundy-brown with warm undertones and lighter gold and plum sparkle. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a more emollient, thin consistency compared the average ColourPop eyeshadow. It applied better with fingertips or patted on in two to three layers for truer-to-pan intensity in practice. It wore well for ten hours with minimal fall out but no fading or creasing. Too Faced Pop (PiP, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Twilight (LE, ) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Central Perk Super Shock Shadow ($5.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “dirty maroon.” It’s a medium-dark burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a drier consistency compared to other shades, though it wasn’t actually dry. The texture was smooth, squishy as you’d expect, but it could been more emollient to make blending easier. I liked how it applied with some effort, but just know that it takes some patience to work with. It wore for a full ten hours without fading or creasing. ColourPop Ms. Brightside (LE, $4.50) is darker, cooler (95% similar). Makeup Geek Bitten (DC, $6.00) is warmer (95% similar). i’m super drawn to boy band . not only does it have an awesome rating , but i love the name as well !
i’m an *nsync fan for life. ^–^
love the sephora liner you paired with this look , btw !
Thank you! 🙂
Stereo and Supermodel! Gorgeous shades. As for Central Perk, I think I’d rather have MAC Deep Damson instead.
P. S. Love that eye look you put together using these together with the bright blue, it looks great! Now that I took the jump and bought My Boyfriend’s Jeans, I really love how it strangely brightens up, not dulls my weird eye color!
Thanks a lot, Nancy! 🙂
I want Supermodel! It would make a great base for my powder shadows. I also love how it’s a dupe for more expensive shadows. And Central Perk looks like a marsala color
It would! It’s a really nice brightening shade.
Fantastic eye look! I was hesitant about these when you showed the preview. Now, I want it all! I am espescially loving Boy band,Stereo, and Central park out of this set. I. Love eye spy too. I wonder if primer would help the patchiness do you think?
I’m not sure! I have yet to find the right combo that helps with the patchiness 🙁 Maybe a more opaque primer like a MAC Paint Pot?
I’ve run into a few of the CP mattes that have that issue.. using a fluffy brush and buffing them on in two or three light layers seems to help. I kind of swirl the tip of the brush in the product in a circle and it gives a nice amount of product… tapping or patting doesn’t work too well. For use on the lid spongetip applicators are my go to.
Thanks for the great tip Charlotte!
Listen…you’re going to have to stop! I said that I was going to save my coins. School is starting, we’re scouting out contractors for the house, and I need to save as much as possible. smh I said no more makeup and despite the low cost I will not cave in. ? My first ColourPop order should be here Monday… ? and I need these, too.
Awww! You can resist!!
you’re beautiful eye looks make me want to buy every color so i can try to recreate it.
Aw, thank you Trina!
Boy Band and Stereo are so pretty!
They are!
When will Colour Pop release these new shadows?
August 27th.
Oh, this look! I always love color-combinations like this on you, so beautiful! Did you apply Stereo over Central Perk on the outer portion of the lid?
Stereo Rose is on the outer lid, Central Perk is in the crease!
I thought I’d have a million dupes for Boy Band, but I actually don’t have any! It’s definitely going on my list. Stereo’s really cool too, and while I have one dupe (Black Forest Truffle from the TF Chocolate Bar) it’s not very good so I never use it. Excited to see reviews for the rest of the collection!
I bet Black Forest Truffle would be awesome OVER Stereo, haha!
Even though these are not really my colours – they are great value for the price. It’s terrific to see how good their ratings are and how universal these colours could be used across the seasons. Love your look Christine- especially the blue eyeliner.
Thank you so much, Genevieve!
Where do you state now whether you bought it yourself or was a press ample?
Right at the title on the right, same as it has been for the last 2-3 years, that says “SAMPLES.”
I was surprised you asked, so I wondered if somehow they weren’t showing up on mobile (they’re little tabs on wider screens), and apparently they aren’t showing on mobile – we will get that corrected first thing tomorrow AM when my team is in! Thank you for asking!
I. Need. ALL OF THESE! This whole collection! I’m salivating!
Yayyy!
The more I look, the more I think I can’t justify I Spy, since it’s so close in color to Just A Sip. Stereo, on the other hand, looks amazing, and I may have to get it. Is it just me or does Stereo look like the pink-shimmered eyeshadow equivalent of Piaf?
I was surprised at how similar all of those peachy shades were!
These are gorgeous. Stereo is my favorite, with Central Perk being a close second. Central Perk is a perfect 90s red eyeshadow. The kind of shade I wore back in the day. <3
It is very true to the 90s!
These are way too warm for me, but they look great on you, Christine. Reminds me a little of your wedding makeup. 🙂
Thank you, Veronica 🙂
Finally a Colourpop dupe for Peach Smoothie. I am all about this collection. I can’t wait.
Yay!
Color Pop is really bringing it! There are so many shadows in this post that I’d love to purchase! I finally made my first order sometime ago after thoroughly reading your reviews, thank you 🙂
They are!!
I generally browse very quickly when you review products I cant get, but this time it was love at first sight for me when I saw the swatch of Stereo. It may not be the best of the Colour Pop eyeshadows, but it is so pretty.
I must check Too Faced, or put an order with MUG. Probably the latter as MUG is a lot cheaper than Too Faced.
It applies better, I think – like in practice I didn’t notice the shortcomings as much!
