FORMULA OVERVIEW | Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lip Colors ($35.00 for 0.07 oz.) are “clutch-sized” lipsticks; it uses the same formula as the full-sized Lip Colors (which retail for $52 for 0.10 oz.), but the packaging feels the same, just smaller. Tom Ford’s lipstick formula is supposed to be hydrating, pigmented, and have a more luminous finish (there is also a specifically Matte formula available that is much flatter in finish). This year’s launch of Lips & Boys features 25 new shades that are part of the new “metallic” finish, and then the return of 25 shades from last year. In general, the formula is semi-opaque to opaque with a lightly creamy consistency that doesn’t slide around a lot but doesn’t cling to the lips. I get anywhere from three to six hours of wear out of them, and most shades are lightly hydrating over time. The formula is vanilla-scented with no discernible taste.

TF is really making me want to shell out almost $40 on lipstick! And from what you wrote, doesn’t seem like “dupes” suffice since their either too cool, or too warm.
There are definitely a few shades in the new 25 that are harder to replicate!
Theo! Joaquin!
Two out of five!
Impressively bold colors. Theo is gorgeous! I’m so glad these are permanent. I don’t really have the will to spend any more money now, but when I do I’ll be looking these up!
It is nice not to have to rush!
I swatched Theo in store, and it was gorgeous! Looks like it’s a more unique color too. It’s going on my wish list
Any other shades catch your eye when you were in-store? Brave soul going to the stores this weekend 😉
Too many colors look good, and I like how some are more unique!! Eeek, thank goodness these are permanent, so I can budget for them or look for promos/discounts.
I’m loving all of these in this bunch. But , Theo is catching my eye particularly. 🙂
Theo seems to be the fave here!
Hey Nicole, I just read your post last Friday about how you were diagnosed with MS. Is this on top of your other condition?? Oh my goodness, I can’t believe your bad luck. I really hope it’s the mild version. I’m worried about you, please take care.
Hi Katherine. It’s not completely official now. I have had a spot on my MRI since 2013. it was never followed up on. That was a mistake, I just recently got a new neurologist. She was shocked and first thing she said upon looking at my chart was that since I was an otherwise very health young person, she does not think the Trigeminal Neuralgia came out of nowhere… usually that would involve trauma or something. People with MS often get ATN. My dad has MS. I have had some weird things like foot drop a few years ago,. So, she did some labs, had the MRI repeated and a lumbar puncture. the labs and MRI showed positive. But, the Lumbar puncture came back negative. She said 8 % don’t show up in the CSF (my dad’s never has showed in CSF). So, she is sending my info to a expert at the hospital. So, now I’m waiting. It stinks. I do not want to have MS of course. But, if I have it, I need to get on the treatment right away. It may explain a lot of things and help control the pain better which has been agonizing since winter rolled in. I see my dad in a wheel chair and it’s heart breaking. It’s just really hard waiting on Dr’s to take vacations. 3 years of my life has gone by with a struggle. My daughter was little when this started. Now she is almost a pre-teen. I don’t think she remembers me how I was.
Sorry to gush that on you. Sometimes I spill too much on here. Usually I will go back and delete a lot of it. But, I feel like I have friends here. So, I’m not right now. Thank you for your well wishes. I know the “bad luck” is annoying. But, hoping it will turn around soon. All I can do is keep searching. There is a dr. at mayo in Az. that I called right before Thanksgiving who specializes in Trigeminal Neuralgia. I’m trying to get in there as well.
Have a good week! 🙂
Good luck, Nicole! We are keeping fingers crossed you are able to get the treatments you need soon!!
Thanks Christine. I’m sorry for spilling all my health woes on the blog. I was having a bad week and just wanted to explain. Thank you for creating this wonderful place. 🙂
The updates are appreciated!
Wow, I can’t even imagine what you must be going through. It’s so much to take in. I really hope you find out soon, sometimes the wait and unknown is the worst. And once they find out the problem, they can figure out the best way to treat or manage it. Thanks for letting me know, and I’m always here if you need me. I know a lot of people here are rooting for you
Thanks Katherine! I’ll keep you posted. 🙂 I have to have an MRI &stay of the chest to rule out Sarcoidosis. Thats the other possibility for my positive lab enzyme. I don’t have that though, I’m pretty sure. Its just a standard procedure thing. My Dr called yesterday. She said the enzyme reads high on MS or Sarcoidosis typically.Sarcoidosisus caused nodules on lung tissue. Daily medical facts with your makeup reading:)
Oh, Nicole, I’m so sorry. ((((((Hugs)))))) Sending lots of love, healing thoughts, and prayers your way.
Thanks Rachel! I guess I was grouchy when I typed all that. I’m doing okay. Just tired out from all the Holiday stuff. But, I’m sure everyone is. Hope you have a nice Holiday!
Nicole: I’m hoping you get to that spot where you are pedaling forward and by that I mean effectively able to manage your health issues. Chronic illness dictates we will never be the people we were and there certainly is a lot of sadness tied to that…man, I know that scene only too well. But then we learn how to cope and manage and find joy in other things which we might have otherwise overlooked as healthy people. I’ve been struggling for the last I don’t know how many years to turn this damn annoying task driven hyper active jack rabbit personality of mine into a plodding and purposeful tortoise… dammit it’s torture, but I’m getting there. Your daughter will see your struggle and admire you for your determination to face it head on. Hugs to you 🙂
“Pedaling forward” certainly is a goal. It definitely has been a fight it feels and I’m becoming exhausted. At this point- 3 years in- I’ve come to understand “triggers”for the pain I have and try to avoid those things logically. One major thing is the cold, wet, windy weather we get in Ohio for about 9 months of the year. Problem is with moving, my daughter who is a 10 and has lived with me since he left when she was 3, won’t sign the legal document. Somehow he has those rights even though he does nor has he ever paid support, he sees her on some Holidays. So now I’m faced with this decision of do I just go? I would of course be taking my daughter. After 6 months , if he takes no legal action to try to bring her back, his rights are forfeited. I know my quality of life was a gazillion times better in summer . Something has to give. Its a big risk. My daughter is my life and he is the kind of person who would take her to hurt me. So, now I’m dealing with that on top of it all. Sorry to spew all of that. Just sucking! Thanks for your kind words Wendy and sorry for spilling everything. Hugs back! 🙂
These are all lovely. Theo is my favorite.
They are pretty hues!
Those are all pretty! I can’t wear Roberto but the rest are contenders! I have Coulis but I prefer the finish of Tony. I also have considered getting Gash and Metallic Jelly but I think I like these finishes better.
How fun! I can’t wait to see if you try any, Erin.
I really like Roberto on you! It’s so fiery! 🙂
These while pretty, are fairly common, easily obtainable shades. Not like Hiro, Derek, Egon or some others from the past few sets. I do really love Theo, but would be more likely to get Too Faced Melted Jelly. I think? But yeah, only Theo jumps out to me.
Melted Jelly is a nice one – good alternative, especially if you like a glossier finish!
Wow, Theo looks amazing, but it will have to wait. Originally I thought it would be too similar to Xavier from last year, but not the case. The pigmentation here looks far superior too.
Wow – beautiful colors and shine! They look so comfortable on you Christine – does that make sense?
It does! They have a good finish and look on the lips.
All five are lovely, but the two I like the most are Theo and Tony. I think we’ll have a party, boys 😉
Haha! ;D
Love Tony and Joaquin the best – gorgeous colours.
Tony has a great finish!
