Gucci Starlight, Oxydus, Oro, Mosaic, Iconic Gold Magnetic Color Shadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Gucci Starlight Magnetic Color Shadow Mono
Gucci Starlight Magnetic Color Shadow Mono ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium, golden brown with a frosted finish. It had good color payoff with a soft, buttery consistency that was easy to work with. On me, it started to fade after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Gucci Oxydus Magnetic Color Shadow Mono ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark, golden brown with warm undertones and a frosted, almost metallic, finish. It had intense pigmentation with a really dense, thick, and buttery texture that adhered well to the skin. It stayed on well for nine hours before creasing slightly. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Gucci Oro Magnetic Color Shadow Mono ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a light-medium, yellow gold with a soft, frosted finish. It had good pigmentation, though the texture was a little dusty compared to most of the other singles I’ve tried, even if it had a very soft, finely-milled feel. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Gucci Mosaic Magnetic Color Shadow Mono ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a softened, light-medium green with warm, khaki undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nice color payoff that adhered well to the skin as the texture was soft, smooth, and blendable. It wasn’t as dense or as buttery as some of the singles, and it ended up being prone to sheering out on the lid when I was working with it. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Gucci Iconic Gold Magnetic Color Shadow Mono ($37.00 for 0.07 oz.) is an olive brown with warm, murky undertones and a heaping amount of gold glitter. The texture has an almost wet-like feel, which helps the glitter adhere to the base color (rather than just sitting on top), but there is some fall out during application as you blend the color on the skin. I also experienced it being a more difficult color to blend, as the larger glitter particles seemed to make the base look uneven at times. I had some fall out during wear as well, though the color itself didn’t crease until after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I like Starlight and Oxydus!
Great shades!
Look nice. But,too expensive for a single neutral ,dupable shade to me.
Yep, these ended up being pretty dupable!
They look nice but other than potentially starlight I wouldn’t be tempted to buy!
For the standalone price of $37, I need perfection 🙁
Pretty! But very dupable. I’m thinking MUFE Artist Shadows would be a better value in this shade range. Gucci has MUFE beat on packaging though. The compact is gorgeous!
For sure dupable–and thank goodness!
I have my eyes set on Oxydus – what a stunner! Happy to see it got an A+.
It’s a great brown!
I like the look of Iconic Gold and Starlight, the pigmentation is amazing but then you would expect that from Gucci x
Starlight is nice!
Ooo, they’re all so pretty.
They are!
The colors are really gorgeous, so glad they performed pretty well, but I can’t justify $ 37 for a single shadow unless the color is so unique or flattering, I must have it. I guess Iconic Gold is my kind of color because I already have 4 of the dupes – Armani Green Iron, Colour Pop So Quiche, Colour Pop Hammered, and MUFE Golden Khahi!
Thank goodness you have the dupes! I found these five to be more dupable than not – I didn’t think Starlight was going to have SOOO many dupes!
oooh…why do the singles have to be better than the quads?!? 🙁 so expensive! but so pretty…perhaps one day when i have some extra money to splurge 🙂
The singles are so $$! 🙁 When they released new single shades, I couldn’t resist though. /hangs head in shame
Iconic Gold is just WOW!!! My kind of shade for sure, but $37 for a single shadow? Nah, I don’t think so, I’ll go for the 2 ColourPop dupes listed:Hammered and So Quiche. Perhaps using them together could give me something close, at least I can hope so! But I really do LOVE the gold glitter in the Gucci one!
I think you can get close with the ColourPop ones 🙂
I quite like the look of Mosaic, not enough to go hunt for it, though.
It’s an interesting shade – the finish made it a bit harder to dupe.
Pretty, but I have to agree with the majority: Too expensive and dupeable. It is nice to see a luxury brand eyeshadow get good grades, though.
Gucci did a good job on the singles, but I wish the price made more sense (they’re still pretty pricey relative to the cost of duos/quads in their line).
This is odd. Long ago you gave these a bad review. Anyway, these are something I’d definitely say are not worth it. I heard so many giving such stellar reviews, though you did not, and I decided to try them! I bought a huge handful or two! And I was SO disappointed. The pigmentation was not there. They buffed away sheer in seconds, and it was a total bummer!!! They even searched horribly after intensely rubbing my finger in it to pick up the product! I returned them all!!! May I please ask how these are now scoring highly? What changed? I still have pictures from those reviews because I use them as references when I’ve shopped. Hehe.. I do that everywhere for reference and comparison 🙂 seriously though, these are ridiculous to even equate with pigmented eyeshadows. Other than ColourPop, I’ve tried them all, meaning those available to us and by eBay from other countries. I’m just so confused if this is sponsored. Right when they came out you found them as duds so kindly with respect, I say all of this. If you are sponsored, that’s fine. It would just be fair for us to know. Thank you, Christine.
I don’t do paid reviews, and as indicated at the very beginning of the post, I purchased all of the products in the post. I’m not sure if you’re confusing this with another product, as I reviewed three shades previously, and they were: Antique Gold (A), Iconic Ottanio (A), and Sasso (A) — all three received As. I recommend you go back and re-read my original reviews, as my experience with these recent shades was actually, on the whole, less impressive than the three I originally purchased.
I’m sorry if I offended you, Christine! I did read that, and was only curious about product promotion, that’s all! If I’m wrong, I’m wrong! It’s really not a problem! I was just asking and sharing my experience. Being that Gucci just released products at Saks, I was curious, that’s all. Really, it’s all good. 🙂
I take my obligation to readers very seriously, which is why I don’t do paid reviews and why I am transparent and always disclose at the beginning of posts. I have no problem with you sharing your experience (different or not — all experiences are important to hear to create a bigger picture!), and I welcome everyone to review and share their experiences with products as a comment or as an actual review in our product database. 🙂 You mentioned that I had reviewed these poorly (that they were duds) previously in your comment, which wasn’t true, and that’s why I wanted to make sure to share with you the shades and ratings I gave them to avoid any misinformation.
Thank you for giving me a chance to clarify as well!
I’m happy you explained! 🙂 like I said, I could be wrong and I’m fine with that, and I also said I was confused as I know your dedication to your readers, your integrity, is the most important to you! That’s why I come here! 🙂 These kinds of mixed experiences make me wonder what exactly it is in our skin, or whatever, that allow the product to come off so differently! I’m a HUGE blue toned Violet fan. You can guess the first Gucci Mono I had my eye on, saw amazing reviews, one by Monsieur Alex.. I got NOTHING. My old Lancome on the rectangles, Tres Violette, is still what I use for comparison. But how do we feel textures differently? What is it? I’m aware you have no idea, it’s rhetorical, but I so often wonder! What do you think of Morphe? I’ve not tried them or MUFE artist yet. I’m hoping ColourPop Lace will fulfill my violet binge. Chanel Iris.. Maybe. SEEMS CLOSE TO modster dark blue… I don’t want to spend if I don’t know. I’m dying for it and Orchidee yet are they worth it? I think of TT’s eyeliners & MJB, yet I’m still wanting that Chanel! I may buy the Japanese one I mentioned that I learned about from Shamekess Fripperies. Idk! May I ask how you use ColourPop ES to line? Brush type? Is it possible with Lace? Why don’t they make eyeliners! Sorry. My wants are raging. Lol. Anyway, I do love and respect you and yours for all the work you do here and I again apologize for being mistaken. 🙂
Did you try any of the Gucci more shimmery shades? I haven’t seen the purple, so I have no idea if it is shimmery or not, but the shimmery shades seem to have the denser, more buttery texture to me, compared to the more satin/matte shades. Purple eyeshadow is difficult to do well (for all), but I don’t really know otherwise. I’ve tested about 20 or so? of Gucci’s eyeshadows across their duos, quads, and singles, and none of them have yielded zero color payoff!
I use a flat, tiny domed eyeshadow brush – think a MAC 239 but smaller and flatter! You’ll want to pat it on rather than sweep it on, but most shades can be used as an eyeliner. I think it is easier to line with a powder eyeshadow than these, though.
Need to have these reviews since I cannot swatch them in person. Same company as Dolce and Gabanna and Cover Girl. This review is special to me today. Rough day I had today.
Sometimes you don’t realize the hard work another person puts out until you cherish that person’s effort. We cannot satisfy everyone.
Who cares how expensive this is. Christine saves us from the frustration and our wallets when she does this review.
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you, Stacey! 🙂
Thank you!
Hi Stacy. I’m not sure if you are referring to me, but I was mistaken about the product she initially reviewed, and I spend more than you would believe on makeup. In my experience. These were pretty to look at in the container and felt soft, but every single color took so much effort to get a half decent swatch. I respect Christine more than I expres! I can’t travel due to serious illness and disability so her searches are important to me too, as well as the reviews! I’m sorry if I offended you or anybody else. I understand. I also am far too aware of bad days for myriad reasons and my heart genuinely goes out to you. I hope your struggles bring you to a better place. Please hang in there. You’re not alone. If you drop the frustration long enough, there’s always something good in the bad to embrace. I hope you can find a silver lining and please know you are loved. No BS. I don’t kiss a$$ & I recognize anger. If you need to vent, and feel comfortable, I’m here. :). Again I’m sorry and I hope your day improves with comfort and some peace for you and whatever it is you are experiencing.
I really like the little cutsey bow pattern on the eyeshadows.
It’s a cute print!
Love these colours – especially the Mosaic and the Iconic Gold. Your eye look for these is absolutely beautiful – especially with that forest green eyeliner. All my colours.
I also meant to add that I completely adore the Gucci Iconic Ottanio eye shadow colour as well.
Thank you, Genevieve! 🙂
The pricing destroys these for me. I do love the look of Mosaic and Iconic Gold, though – I’m really digging that kind of golden dirty green.
Makes me wish Colour Pop shipped internationally!
One day, one day…
Ack, all these shades are very much up my alley, love ’em!
They’re pretty!
I always enjoy the looks of Gucci’s shimmer shadows. I only have one in stash atm and I find it a bit tricky to apply, but love the results (they feel super similar to MUFE shimmer shadows to me) I have yet to go back for more. These are tempting, but something else seemingly gets my attention and money first.
I would agree that they share something in common with MUFE’s eyeshadows (at least some of the shimmery ones). Neiman Marcus was probably doing that gift card thing and seeing new shades… I ended up buying more. I think I’d still buy a few more, but I would rather see them in person instead of buying blind!
OMG that Iconic Gold is gorgeous but it’s too pricey for my budget! I love the sparkle, tho!
Maybe one of the dupes will work!
