Sephora x Jem and the Holograms Truly Outrageous Eyeshadow Palette ($39.00 for 0.44 oz.) is a set of twenty-four eyeshadows (they’re pretty small, 0.0183 oz. each) with a few neutrals but mostly medium or darker brights and smoky hues. The texture of the eyeshadow formula, generally, was very soft but noticeably powdery; it is easy to kick-up excessive powder in the pan and some shades would sheer out noticeably when applied. Some shades applied nicely on the skin, while the longevity of the formula as a whole was shorter than average (between five and seven hours for me).
Minx is a light-medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth texture that was a little thin but applied well to bare skin. What a bummer 🙁 Some of the most interesting colors (Mrs. Baily, 1980s, and some of the blues and purples) got some of the worse scores. Mrs. Baily looks like it would make a pretty blush
It’s a cute palette, maybe at $30 or $35, and if you normally use primer, it’d be a cute one. They applied better than I thought, but the lasting power was low!
I put mine over Urban Decay Anti-Aging and the colors popped, lasted 10 hours with no fading, and they blended beautifully. This palette begs for primer.
Sephora Brand has been doing some great work with some products. It would be awesome if they could perfect a shadow formula and save us a ton of money. The packaging on this was really turning me off. It’s just something about the whole Jem thing actually. Idk why. I loved it when I was a kid and I love the resurgence of the 80’s and 90’s. But, this Jem stuff seems tacky to me. Anyway, the Jem I knew was a cartoon character with flowing pink hair. They totally changed it. It’s just not the same, lol.

It just seems like they are rehashing everything! C’mon. Kids need creativity movie maker people. Try something new!lol..the makeup is cute. But I think it’s priced a bit high too.

Oh wow, I think yours was over pressed. I agree with 1980 being an F (completely unusable) but most of my shade heaved better than yours that was on the low end of grading. >_<
They applied nicer than expected (overall), but wear time was surprisingly low across the board! Kind of felt like my eyelids were snacking on the eyeshadow, lol.

Wow, being an old fart, who didn’t have kids, I didn’t know WTH they were. But the first article only told me that the film was pulled after 2 weeks. Total tank & the worst in history to open in 2000 screens. After opening, it was averaging 16 (no error) per showing. I kind of get the style, though I don’t get the message… (Is it self-affirmation & be true to yourself?) that said, it was 80s, young, and colorful. This must be a major disappointment to fans. Looked pretty nice in the pan, but even C couldn’t pull a good look out of it. It’s so nice to have a bright variety all in one place, but this isn’t it. Wonder if S was late to the party, bec this in no way looks planned and tied-in,before it was executed. Hope those of you who get it have good luck with the usual enablers: TFSI, Nyx Milk, and UDPP.

Actually, the pigmentation is way better than I was expecting for something like this, though the powdery textures doesn’t surprise me. I see it as a collector’s item. But there are some very pretty shades, and it sounds like primer and a white base would help these if one wanted to wear them. The packaging is really cute, though I was too old to have watched Jem. So it’s a pass for me.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now (with a cream eyeshadow as a base) and have been getting 10+ hours of wear time out of it.
The big disappointment I had was size of the shadows, but overall I’m loving this. It’s a close tie between this & the UD Vice 4 for me.
I don’t test with primer, so I’m sure that’s part of it, as with a primer, it should wear longer.
Synergy, Pizazz and Aja were the only 3 colours I liked. All the rest were just average. Even though I love blues and greens – these ones were just tacky and cheap looking.
The palette has been poorly and hastily put together. The first row colours look very similar to each other. I would much rather a smaller palette of unique colours that a big, over priced and unwhelming palette like this.
It seems like a lot of fans weren’t happy with the arrangement/names as well!
Rockstar is pretty but this is getting a big pass from me.

I LOVE Jem & the Holograms (I watch it every morning on Discovery Kids as I’m getting ready for work…don’t judge), but to say that I was disappointed with the premise of the live action movie would be a colossal understatement. I also had mixed feelings about the makeup launch & it turns out my feelings were accurate. Some of the eyeshadow colors are pretty, but there’s nothing TRULY OUTRAGEOUS about this palette. When will Hollywood learn that not everything needs a remake?!?
