Au Fil de L'Eau #4 is a deep, bluish-gray with cool undertones and a satin sheen. The color coverage was slightly shy of full opacity in a single layer but could be built up to full coverage with a second layer or if used with a dampened brush. The eyeshadow had a soft, blendable texture that wasn't too firmly nor too softly pressed in the pan, so powderiness wasn't present and it was easy to control and to apply with precision. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.
