ColourPop Fauncy Creme Gel Colour Set
ColourPop Fauncy Creme Gel Colour Set ($33.00 for 0.36 oz.) includes three eyeliner pencils and three gel eyeliners (in pots); all six shades are limited edition. This was a bit of a mixed bag; none of these were super pigmented in one stroke, with some that layered better than others. They are more unique in color, though, particularly Frill and Soiree.
Frill (Creme Gel Liner) is described as a “soft icy lavender.” It’s a muted, light-medium lavender with cool undertones and faint shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one stroke, which was buildable to opaque coverage in two layers. The consistency was creamy enough to glide without tugging, but it didn’t migrate, and it’s not what I’d call smudgeable (which is often great news for longevity, but some may prefer a more smudging formula). It wore well for eight and a half hours on me. It’s a pretty unique color, which is a plus! Marc Jacobs Beauty (Luna)tic (64) (P, $26.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Sephora Lavender Fields (DC, $10.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Soiree (Creme Gel Liner) is described as a “deep gunmetal with gold and silver.” It’s a dark, charcoal gray with warm, brown undertones and lighter gold pearl. It had semi-sheer pigmentation in one pass, and it was somewhat buildable, but it didn’t layer as well as most of the other shades in the formula have for me. The texture doesn’t feel dry, but it could be creamier. This shade lasted for eight hours on me before thinning. ColourPop Soiree (LE, $7.00) is lighter (95% similar). KVD Beauty Proud Peacock (P, $10.00) is lighter (95% similar). NARS Night Porter (P, $24.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Water Willow (LE, $16.00) is darker, brighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Loaded (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Bustier (Creme Gel Liner) is described as a “deep blackened olive.” It’s a murky, blackened brown with hints of khaki/green in the base, but it reads fairly black overall. There appear to be very, very fine emerald shimmers in it. The texture was lightly creamy and didn’t tug on the lash line. One stroke yielded semi-opaque pigmentation, while two to three layers achieved full opacity. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours. ColourPop Bustier (LE, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). NARS Night Clubbing (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). ColourPop Work Out (P, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Work Out (P, $7.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Blitz & Glitz (P, $16.00) is darker (85% similar). MAC Darkness of Calm (LE, $17.50) is darker, warmer (85% similar). MAC Late Night (P, $25.00) is less shimmery, brighter (85% similar). MAC Black Line (P, $15.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Soiree (Creme Gel Colour) is described as a “deep gunmetal with gold and silver.” It’s a smoky, blackened teal with green tones and slight gold sparkle. It is brighter and lighter compared to the eyeliner, as the shimmer seems more prominent (and larger in particle size) in the pot version. The texture was very lightly creamy–wish it had a little more slip–and fairly pigmented. The color wore for close to nine hours, but I had some sparkle that traveled. ColourPop Soiree (LE, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). KVD Beauty Proud Peacock (P, $10.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Water Willow (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). NARS Night Porter (P, $24.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Bustier (Creme Gel Colour) is described as a “deep blackened olive.” It’s a blackened brown with hints of murky olive in its base paired with a semi-matte finish. It was darker and had more depth than the pencil form, though they are similar in color. The texture is lightly creamy and applies fairly evenly in a single stroke. The pot version wore for nine and a half hours. ColourPop Bustier (LE, $7.00) is lighter (95% similar). NARS Night Clubbing (P, $24.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Blitz & Glitz (P, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Darkness of Calm (LE, $17.50) is lighter (95% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty (Iron)y (P, $25.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Melt Cosmetics Spliff (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). NARS Last Frontier (P, $24.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Work Out (P, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). ColourPop Work Out (P, $7.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (80% similar). MAC Black Line (P, $15.00) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Polar (Creme Gel Colour) is described as a “true black with multi-coloured glitter.” It’s a plum-tinged black with large silver, green, and violet glitter. The texture of this seemed dry to me; it was noticeably less creamy compared to the majority of the shades I’ve tried in the formula. I felt like this made for eyeliner that applied in dragged lines, where the edges were splayed and the color was uneven. The underlying black base lasted for nine hours, but there was fall out and migration from the some of the sparkle. With some sort of mixing medium, this might be workable, but just as-is, the dryness made it problematic. Bobbi Brown Twilight Night (P, $23.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Black Swan (P, $15.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). NARS 47th Street (LE, $24.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Ether (DC, $22.00) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Polar it lovely!
is*
It is a cool color!
I bought this set and find Polar to be sub par for their liners as well. I need to apply in layers to get the pigmentation I want and it isn’t exactly easy/smooth to apply. I do love Frill though and probably the biggest impetus for buying this set in the first place.
Frill is sooo cool! Hope they’ll consider adding that to the full line. Quite different!
Hey Christine, do you think the gel pots would work well as a base (or shadow)? For some reason, the pots don’t get me that excited as liners…
Not really – they dry down very, very quickly and are hard to diffuse/blend once they set (which is nearly instantly). They’ll flake off often if you try to blend!
Bustier looks really nice.
It is!
Hrm, I was hoping for the set to perform better as a whole. Is there anything in colourpop close to Frill that can be bought individually? I love the color but not enough to buy the entire set.
Frill is pretty unique.
Oh my goodness, I LOVE blackened greens/grays/purples as eyeliners, as they don’t look as harsh as black, and they make my brown eyes pop. I didn’t realize how unique some of these shades were, but I recently bought a TON of eyeliners during sales – BM Round The Clock, The Balm Mr. Write , Sephora Contour Mattes, and I have to check my stash to see if there are any dupes. My absolute fave here is Bustier!
Bustier is very interesting!
I was planning to try to get this. But, I’m thinking maybe not now. Its really not doing much for me. I expected more from CP honestly.
Me too, Nicole! The best part was really how unique the shades were (relative to most eyeliners).
Too bad that CP is not offering tgese as singles, because I don’t love all 6! I might still possibly get this for Frill and Soiree in the pot ( it practically matches my eye color! ). Polar made me wince because it’s sooo stunning, but the application issues, though. I agree that Polar would require a mixing medium to make it glide ant also to help the glitter particles stay put!
Seems to be the issue for a lot of people — singles please!
They’re beautiful, but I don’t like that the pot liners dry so quickly. I wish Frill were sold separately.
Frill is REALLY unique!
I agree with you Christine – these are some really lovely colours. Soiree is beautiful. The pencils look good – were they easier to use than the gel pots?
Yes, they were easier!
Too bad these colors had some great potential.
They rwere rather unique!
Frill is gorgeous! Sadly it’s the only thing I want from this set :/
Aww!
I really like Soiree and Polar. However, I don’t like that these are LE and can’t be purchased separately.
I understand, Cat!
Give us Frill as a single!
From your lips to ColourPop’s ears!!
Soirée cream gel is stunning!
Very glittery!
I really like Frill. Good thing I have Luna(tic). It is one of my favourite liners, after the really good black ones.
Phew 🙂
