BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana Foil Eyeshadow Palette ($12.50 for 1.16 oz.) is a collection of brighter pops of color in the brand’s more shimmery formula. I’ve reviewed the Original Foil Eyes and more recent Foil Eyes 2 palettes in the past, and I find that the original is the easiest to work with across the palette, but Club Tropicana was the worst/hardest to use as-is. I think if you’re someone who enjoys very shimmery, sparkly, or metallic shades and typically works with a dampened brush or an adhesive base, you’ll find this palette useful and easier to use. There were just several shades that required a dampened brush to help improve binding and adhesion (for evenness) to the lid, and for me, traditional eyeshadow primer doesn’t do much as the issue was more texture/formula than a matter of pigmentation or longevity.

One thing I noticed was that the two previous Foil Eyeshadow Palettes contained 1.58 oz./1.60 oz. of product, whereas this one only contained 1.16 oz. The ingredient list was the same between Club Tropicana and Foil Eyes 2 (but the Original has a slightly different list/order of ingredients), so I’m not sure what accounted for such a dramatic decrease in weight. Even at 1.16 oz., it works out to be 0.04 oz. per shade, which is close to the average full-sized eyeshadow (0.05 oz.).

Club Tropicana #1 is a medium orange with hints of brown that muted the brightness of the color–but read more orange than brown to my eye–paired with a metallic finish. The consistency was quite dense, and when I pushed at the surface with my brush, it flaked off a bit, so it was messier to use and did not apply as evenly as I would have liked. It would be easier to use it with a slightly dampened brush, as it would help smooth out the consistency quite a bit and help it spread across the lid better. This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me before creasing.

Club Tropicana #2 is a bright, light-medium mint green with cooler undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied unevenly to the skin. With this type of silicone-heavy formula, I do not personally find primer to help much, but using a slightly dampened brush or spritzing MAC Fix+ (which has glycerin in it) goes a long way to improving spreadability and evenness of coverage. The consistency was dense but dry, which resulted in looser, more uneven coverage. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Club Tropicana #3 is a medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, pearly sheen. It had slightly larger flecks of sparkle but the finish wasn’t as metallic as other shades in the palette. It had medium, buildable pigmentation that applied decently to bare skin. The texture was soft, a little loose, but not too dense in the pan, so it was easy to pickup with a brush. It wore well for seven and a half hours before creasing.

Club Tropicana #4 is a bright, medium blue with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied well to bare skin, and it actually spread and blended out nicely but the thicker consistency of the actual eyeshadow made it more prone to emphasizing my lid’s texture. If I used a dampened brush, that emphasis was minimized. This shade started to crease on me after eight hours of wear.

There were larger sparkle particles in it, which seemed to contribute to it applying unevenly to the lid as the larger sparkles pulled the finer powder away from places as I blended it out. It had medium pigmentation, which was somewhat buildable, but it was easiest to use with a dampened brush. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Club Tropicana #10 is a vibrant, medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was intense–totally opaque and barely any product was needed to achieve that! The texture was smooth, blendable, and almost cream-like as it was slightly dense and thick compared to the standard powder eyeshadow but still was easy to work with. It wore well for nine hours on me before creasing slightly.

The texture was drier and looser, where a lot of the sparkle seemed to come away from the base product, which made it incredibly messy to work with. It looked uneven on the lid, and it was best applied with a fingertip, with a dampened brush, or over a glitter adhesive. This shade had significant fallout within four hours of wear.

BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition Palette ($22.50 for 1.06 oz.) includes 15 eyeshadows and six highlighters. It’s a new, limited life palette that is also available at Ulta. It will be available for a year, and then it will be removed from the line-up after that. I don’t expect to review this immediately, since it is not as urgent as several other palettes I have on my to-review list at the moment but hope to review it in the near future.

BH Cosmetics Club Tropicana Foil Eyes Palette ($12.50 for 1.16 oz.) contains 28 eyeshadows in vibrant pops of color; the brand describes them as “intense jewel tones, saturated pastels and glimmering neutrals.” It’s new and limited edition, and as always, I’ll try to review as soon as I can, but it is a larger palette, which can take longer (both in terms of actual testing as well as writing out the review/adding dupes) and I’m in palette overload! I did want to point out that the weight (quantity) is quite different–1.16 oz. compared to 1.60 oz. in Foil Eyes 2–and the formula felt looser/drier with more sparkle content in Club Tropicana so that they did not have the same creamy consistency as a lot of shades in the original Foil Eyes and Foil Eyes 2 palettes.

BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 2 Eyeshadow Palette ($12.50 for 1.60 oz.) includes 28 eyeshadows that are supposed to be “ultra-shimmer” in an array of “vivid jewel tones, richer neutrals, and more icy options” [compared to the original Foil Eyes palette]. The formula is described as having “intense pigmentation, buttery feel [with a] molten metal finish.”

Some of shades were incredibly pigmented with a creamier, dense consistency that adhered well to bare skin, blended along the edges easily, and lasted anywhere from seven and a half to nine hours on me (no primer). There were more than a few that were sheerer, less shimmery (not as in line with “Foil” as you’d expect), or felt a bit drier in the pan. For some, the lack of mattes will make this a complementary palette rather than an all-in-one, but I think it is obvious going in that this is all about the shimmer. One thing to note is that due to the high shimmer content in each shade, many look lighter applied compared to how they appear in the pan.

I liked this palette, and at $12.50, I’d purchase it again in a heartbeat, but it was not quite as impressive as the original Foil Eyes. Foil Eyes 2 had too many sheerer shades, and the texture was not consistent throughout. The wear was still good, and the majority of the eyeshadows were blendable and easy to use, so some of the deficiencies weren’t as noticeable in practice. I also felt like there were a surprising number of shades that were more satin-to-pearl than genuinely metallic or foil-like in finish.

Foil Eyes 2 #4 is a medium, coral-orange with warm, reddish undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was dense to the point where I felt like I had to jab a bit at the surface to get product to come off of it, so it wasn’t quite as effortless to use as other shades. As a result, it took a bit more effort to smooth and apply the color evenly, though I would not say it was greatly challenging on the whole–just more so than others in the palette. It had good pigmentation and wore well for eight hours.

The texture was smooth, creamy, and dense but still soft enough that it was easy to over-apply this product to the lid on the first go-round! This shade started to crease a bit after nine hours of wear.

The texture was drier, thinner, and it did not have the same creaminess that many of the shades in the palette had. It had good pigmentation, but it had a tendency to look slightly uneven when initially applied. I was able to blend and diffuse it so it was even, but it seemed off compared to the formula in general. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

It had good pigmentation, though the texture was so dense and creamy that it seemed a little thicker and took more pressure to apply and spread across the lid. I had the best luck using a flat, synthetic brush for applying this shade. On me, the color started to crease on me after eight hours of wear.

The consistency was soft, lightly loose in the pan, but it didn’t kick up excess or become difficult to work with. THe pigmentation was very, very rich!
