BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 2 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Foil Eyes 2
BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 2 Eyeshadow Palette ($12.50 for 1.60 oz.) includes 28 eyeshadows that are supposed to be “ultra-shimmer” in an array of “vivid jewel tones, richer neutrals, and more icy options” [compared to the original Foil Eyes palette]. The formula is described as having “intense pigmentation, buttery feel [with a] molten metal finish.”
Some of shades were incredibly pigmented with a creamier, dense consistency that adhered well to bare skin, blended along the edges easily, and lasted anywhere from seven and a half to nine hours on me (no primer). There were more than a few that were sheerer, less shimmery (not as in line with “Foil” as you’d expect), or felt a bit drier in the pan. For some, the lack of mattes will make this a complementary palette rather than an all-in-one, but I think it is obvious going in that this is all about the shimmer. One thing to note is that due to the high shimmer content in each shade, many look lighter applied compared to how they appear in the pan.
I liked this palette, and at $12.50, I’d purchase it again in a heartbeat, but it was not quite as impressive as the original Foil Eyes. Foil Eyes 2 had too many sheerer shades, and the texture was not consistent throughout. The wear was still good, and the majority of the eyeshadows were blendable and easy to use, so some of the deficiencies weren’t as noticeable in practice. I also felt like there were a surprising number of shades that were more satin-to-pearl than genuinely metallic or foil-like in finish.

Foil Eyes 2 #3
Foil Eyes 2 #3 is a medium-dark, coppery brown with warm undertones and a metallic finish. This shade had less shimmer/less reflectiveness compared to other shades in the palette. The texture was slightly firmer in the pan but was not difficult to pickup or to use. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and stayed on well for eight hours.

Foil Eyes 2 #4
Foil Eyes 2 #4 is a medium, coral-orange with warm, reddish undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was dense to the point where I felt like I had to jab a bit at the surface to get product to come off of it, so it wasn’t quite as effortless to use as other shades. As a result, it took a bit more effort to smooth and apply the color evenly, though I would not say it was greatly challenging on the whole–just more so than others in the palette. It had good pigmentation and wore well for eight hours.

Foil Eyes 2 #5
Foil Eyes 2 #5 is a rich, medium-dark bronze with warm, reddish undertones and an intense, metallic finish. The pigmentation was completely opaque and little product was needed. The texture was smooth, creamy, and dense but still soft enough that it was easy to over-apply this product to the lid on the first go-round! This shade started to crease a bit after nine hours of wear.

Foil Eyes 2 #6
Foil Eyes 2 #6 is a dark, bronzy brown with warm, copper undertones and a sparkling sheen. The texture was drier, thinner, and it did not have the same creaminess that many of the shades in the palette had. It had good pigmentation, but it had a tendency to look slightly uneven when initially applied. I was able to blend and diffuse it so it was even, but it seemed off compared to the formula in general. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Foil Eyes 2 #8 is a soft, very light pink with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation and felt a little firmer in the pan with a drier consistency overall. Foil Eyes 2 #18
Foil Eyes 2 #18 is a dark gray with cool, bluish undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied decently to bare skin, but it took more work to build it up and blend it out as the texture was drier and did not seem to bind together as well–it was a lot less creamy in comparison to the better performing shades in the palette. Foil Eyes 2 #27
Foil Eyes 2 #27 is a bright, light-medium green with warmer, golden undertones and a cooler, lime green sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation. The eyeshadow felt softer in the pan–a little looser–but still on the creamier side, and it still seemed to work well on bare skin. I would even go as far as saying it applied better on the lid than it swatched. It started to crease on me after eight and a half hours of wear.

Foil Eyes 2 #28
Foil Eyes 2 #28 is a muted, medium-dark emerald green with cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich, opaque color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin. The consistency was a smidgen drier and firmer in the pan, and I felt like it took more pressure to get product to translate onto my brush. I felt like a flat, synthetic brush was necessary with shade. The eyeshadow was easy to blend out, though, and it stayed in place for a full nine hours.

I have the original and their version of foiling is definitely not for me.. something about how all the colours have a silvery top finish does not work with my hooded mature eyes. I don’t care for them as inside corner highlight either. A pass, but pretty to look at!
Darn! At least it didn’t break the bank, I guess!
I normally don’t like palettes this big, but I’m liking the purple/mauve shades here, might consider getting this
I was surprised that the purples did better overall!
I’m disappointed in a few of the shades, but this will be staying on my wish list.
Yeah, there are some duds in the palette but still plenty of hits.
Crazy as this is going to sound, I’m going to get this. And de-pot just the shades I love and absolutely need, put them in a magnetized palette, and either toss the other half or donate them contained in a separate magnetized palette. The purples, greens and several of the bronzey or berry shades will be mine, though! I mean; a dupe for UD Tornado? Oh yeah!
That’s a good idea, Nancy! Depotting makes a lot of sense with this type of palette.
Good thinking, Nancy!
This is not for me, as I almost never do frost/metallic/foiled eyeshadows (I can’t make it look right on me), but I just have to say — it’s so impressive that such an affordable palette scored so well. At this price, if I change my mind later for even just one shade, it’s less expensive than many brands’ singles.
It’s nice to have something that won’t break the bank but still has some great quality to it. There aren’t that many 20+ shade palettes that are all hits!
I just started to play with this palette myself and has a lot of gap filler shades to the first palette. 😉
Be even looking at the two together this is more os pearl/frost finish palette than High shine shimmer I was expecting.
Oh, yes, it’s a nice companion to the original. I feel like at least BH listened a bit – more muted, smokier colors – definitely different from the original.
So good for the price! Too bad for the few grey/silvers didn’t work out.
Silver is usually so easy to get right!
This palette will be mine.
It cost less than a single eyeshadow.
I have dupes for some, others are dupes for singles I have on my wishlist.
Besides I had decided to get this when I saw the looks you had done, using this.
I could buy this just for #14 and 26.
I can’t believe how cheap it is!
How long did it take for you to receive an order from BH cosmetics? From my experience so far its very slow, I ordered on the 31st May the new club tropicana palette but its now the 8th and it still hasn’t been shipped.
My order for that palette just shipped. In the past, I’ve ordered randomly, so my orders processed and shipped fairly quickly. Sometimes if you’re ordering during a larger launch, it can take longer.
The A’s for the purples made this jump into my cart!
I hope you enjoy it!
Hi Christine! Would love to know your opinion- I will probably never use the green or blue shades (at least the brighter ones). Would you say this is a good buy if I was looking into a lot of Anastasia shades (mostly the neutrals & pinks), or should I just buy Anastasia?
On here, an A is an A is an A assuming the formulas have similar claims (which they do). I’d really think about how you like to use/reach for products – would everything in one palette be too bulky? Would you prefer having a palette with more of a mix of matte/shimmers?
I mean, you’ll get 28 shades for the price of a single Anastasia eyeshadow, so it’s hard to say it isn’t a good buy if the shades you’d use most often did well!
I have the Foil #1 palette and really like it. This palette looks great overall. I like the color selection and the stinker colors aren’t something I really need. Would be great to have a couple of matte shades but since your can’t pick just a couple of mattes that are going to cover all skin tones it is probably better to just utilize it as a companion palette. Really for the price you can’t beat it.
I’m a big fan of the original Foil Eyes palette, too, Deborah!
I love this palette! I have both of the Foil Eyes palettes and am planning on picking up the summery new one as well. Makes it so easy to add a pop of color.
Glad you like it, Kalyn!
Wait. $12.50????! How were these palettes not on my radar before now?!
Love the review! Is a glitter primer necessary for these shadows, given that they are so foiled?
No, glitter primer isn’t necessary!
This is a stupendous palette for the price, with most of the shades getting an excellent rating. The two that don’t – Nos 17 & 18 grey shades would be the ones I would use. If you got this palette, you really wouldn’t need any other foil one at all.
What a mammoth job it was for you to test all of these shades. Thank you so much.
I was depotting mine last night and swatched #25. It was so creamy and velvety, I had to come read your review for this shade. It is so lush!
