ColourPop Fade Into Hue Palette Review & Swatches
Fade Into Hue
ColourPop Fade Into Hue 30-Pan Shadow Palette ($34.00 for 0.92 oz.) is a new, rainbow-inspired color story with an assortment of matte, sparkle matte, shimmer, and glitter textures. The palette is arranged by color in columns and then in rainbow-order going from left to right. There were some shades that were pigmented, blendable, and easy to work with, but there were a fair amount of sparkling matte shades that had a lot of fallout (both from the sparkles as well as some powderiness), so some of the enjoyment will depend on one’s threshold for fallout. I’d definitely apply this prior to base products, and I would use it with an eyeshadow primer, too.
For those concerned, there are four shades with plastic (PET) glitter in them, and then there are nine Pressed Pigments–all of these shades are marked with an asterisk and are “not intended for use in the immediate eye area.”

Fantasyland
Fantasyland is a very light, paler pink with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, more contrasting gold shimmer that gave it a frosted finish. The texture was more loosely-pressed, which resulted in light to moderate fallout during application and a less-than-even application of product. I’d recommend using with a dampened brush or a fingertip, which helped to smooth the product into place. It had opaque color coverage that lasted for eight hours before fading visibly on me.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.
The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

Prismatic
Prismatic has a transparent base and is filled with pink and red smaller-particle glitter with slightly larger, more iridescent glitter throughout. It contains plastic (PET) glitter and is not approved for usage around the eye area. It had semi-sheer to medium coverage (from the glitter particles) that had good dispersion. The texture was more emollient and could move around in the pan when pushed at (whether with a brush or a fingertip). I didn’t test it on the eye area, but on cheeks, it had some migration after seven hours of wear.

Atelier
Atelier is a bright, darker pink with subtle, cool undertones and faint sparkle over a matte finish. The texture was soft enough but moderately powdery with a tendency for both powder and flecks of sparkle to fly away (visibly!) when applied and diffused. I’d recommend patting this into place with a denser brush and only gingerly blending it out to avoid tons of fallout. It had opaque color coverage that wore well for eight and a half hours and left a stain behind.

It contains plastic (PET) glitter and is not approved for usage around the eye area. Art Deco
Art Deco is a brighter, medium orange with strong, warm undertones and lighter, orange-gold sparkle over a matte finish. There was a fair amount of sparkle, though I could see it billow away as I applied the product. The consistency was very powdery and thinner, so the product sheered out a bit from its initial full coverage, but the fallout was a greater concern. It wore well for eight hours but had light fallout over time.

Love and Warhol is a vivid, medium-dark coral with moderate, warm undertones that leaned slightly orange paired with a sparkling matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well, but all of the sparkles were difficult to keep in place. There was a lot of fallout from the sparkles, and they also had a tendency to blend/spread well-beyond where the color was initially placed. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery and a touch thin. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably and left a faint stain behind.

The texture was moderately powdery with some fallout; it was the kind of shade that was best applied prior to base application. Abstract is a deep, more marigold-leaning yellow with strong, warm orange undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, moderately powdery, and sheered out lightly when applied to bare skin. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted for eight and a half hours on me.

Designer
Designer is a bright, chartreuse green with flecks of sparkle over a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that could be built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery, and had light fallout during application. The sparkles were a larger issue, though, as they contributed heavily to fallout during application and a bit more while worn. It stayed on decently for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

Pose
Pose is a light green with moderate, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. The texture was lightly creamy, smooth, and dense without being overly stiff to work with. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Dyed Up
Dyed Up is a bright, light-medium green with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that adhered fairly evenly to bare skin but darkened a bit along the edges, which sometimes made it appear warmer. I’d recommend using this shade over a primer to ensure more even coverage and truer color. The consistency was blendable but moderately powdery, so there was some fallout during application. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

Haute (Fade Into Hue)
Haute (Fade Into Hue) is a light-medium green with moderate, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, which applied evenly and blended out out easily on bare skin. The texture was soft, lightly creamy, and dense but not overly stiff so it picked up well with a dry brush. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Haute (Fade Into Hue)
LELimited Edition. $4.50.
Bold Type
Bold Type is a medium-dark teal with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was quite powdery and thin, which resulted in a lot of fallout and the tendency for the powder to sheer out when applied. Even when I just patted and pressed it into place–no blending!–it seemed to just… fall off within a few minutes. It had mostly opaque pigmentation initially, but it really couldn’t seem to keep in place–even over primer (Smashbox 24HR). The little that seemed to hang on was noticeably faded after six hours.

Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope has a transparent base chocked full of lighter blue and more cyan blue, smaller-particle glitter along with some more iridescent flecks of glitter. It contains plastic (PET) glitter and is not approved for usage around the eye area. The texture was more emollient and malleable, which enabled better dispersion on the skin, but it wasn’t the most even application of glitter compared to other shades in the range. There was some migration apparent after eight hours of wear (on cheeks).

The color showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Hot Copic

Watermark
Watermark is a brighter, medium blue with moderate, cooler undertones and flecks of sparkle over a matte finish. The sparkles resulted in a fair amount of fallout and unexpected dispersion of sparkles (far beyond where I initially placed the color). The consistency was moderately powdery, too, which made the fallout issue greater. It had opaque pigmentation but had to be built back up as it did sheer out noticeably after applying and blending it out (but everywhere, not just the edge!). This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Express
Express is a light lavender with subtle, cool undertones and warmer, golden shimmer. It had more of a frosted finish as it was a chunkier texture that was very loosely-pressed into the pan. It had more semi-sheer, somewhat buildable pigmentation due to the texture–it just was hard to bind together as a cohesive product. There was a lot of fallout during application. It lasted decently for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Without those plastic glitter shades It would had been a pretty palette. Why don’t replace these chunkier piece of plastic with a standard shimmers? Or maybe duochrome top coats??
These matte with sparkle shades drive me crazy. What is the point?? I was excited by this palette but combined with the pressed glitters I think it’ll be a pass for me.
I half love it, half abhor it. This one gets a major “hell no!” from me. I already have far better dupes anyways.
What a mammoth palette to review Christine! Thank you for getting this one done and dusted so quickly.
I can safely say that I am not tempted by this colourful offering – the shades are just not for me.
However, givent the size of the palette and sheer number of pastel shaded mattes, the brand has done a relatively good job of this. It’s the shimmers that have let them down, plus the addition of the much disliked glitter numbers.
The palette as a whole doesn’t excite me, but there are some pretty shades here.
Also Hot Copic is one of my favourite shade names all year. Probably would have picked almost any other colour for it over the one it’s used on, but the name is great.
The last time I bought a rainbow palette was UD full spectrum. Two of my three favorite shades from that one turned out to be blacks (the charcoal shimmery gray-black from the white row and the black packed with gold glitter from the yellow row). This should be a big skip for me just based on that and the fact that it stays on the light side.
Well I couldn’t resist this one – I bought it! Really appreciate this review since I would have had no idea that some of the colors are not for eyes. Baffles me why anyone would put shades in an eye palette that are not for eyes, but there you go, life is strange. I don’t have most of these colors in my stash yet so this was a no-brainer for me. Love the eye looks you did, inspirational. Can’t wait to play around with it.
Some of these are lovely, but when half the palette is unsafe for eye use and two of the colors I want to like are badly rated, I’m going to pass.
I love the concept and color scheme but I hate fallout. Mattes with sparkle are a huge pet peeve and nobody does them well.
