36 Luminous Highlighters for Glowing Skin

There are so many highlighters available these days! They come in assortment of undertones, depths, finishes, and formulas. This post features top-rated shades, across formula types, that deliver a more moderate glow, often more luminous than overtly shimmery or metallic (but definitely not subtle!).

I’ve organized the shades by depth–lighter, more mid-tone, and darker–to make it easy to find the kind of highlighter depth you prefer. Each section includes a mix of formulas (powder, cream, liquid, etc.) and tones (not just gold!).

We should always play and experiment to see what kind of colors and products we like on ourselves, but sometimes a guideline or two is useful for those who are still learning their way. Typically, highlighters are lighter than one’s skin tone and are designed to reflect light where it is applied, which is why they’re often applied on the high points of the face (cheek bones, below the arch of the brow, cupid’s bow, etc.).

I’ve also written some how-tos that you may find useful on applying highlighters:

Luminous Highlighters – Lighter

Luminous Highlighters – Mid-tone

Luminous Highlighters – Darker

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!
