NYX Snow Rose Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Snow Rose
NYX Snow Rose Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder ($7.99 for 0.21 oz.) is a very light, cool-toned beige with pink-to-lavender pearl that gave it more of a soft, frosted sheen. This was one of the more interesting shades (though the type of duochrome it had is something we have seen before), as it can really alter whatever it is layered over. On its own, the whiteness of the base color is rather apparent, so on my skin tone, it would be best when layered over another blush or highlighter. For someone very fair, it could definitely be worn more on its own without looking like it lightened one’s skin. The consistency was smooth, firm but not stiff or difficult to get pigmentation out of. It applied evenly to the skin, blended out well, and didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. The highlighter wore well for eight hours before fading on me.

Formula Overview
$7.99/0.21 oz. - $38.05 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to "blend like a dream" and have a "luminous finish." The pigmentation varied from semi-sheer to mostly opaque with a denser, lightly creamy texture that felt thicker in the pan but did not look or feel that way on my skin. I would recommend using a denser brush or using a heavier hand to get product onto the brush. I didn’t feel like the powder was stiff, but it wasn’t as loosely pressed as a lot of highlighters on the market, which did make it easier to control and build coverage and sheen up. They lasted around eight hours on me.

This looks like something I need to add to my collection. Plus I’m loving the price.
It is a nice highlighter!
I like this a lot (so of course I have two dupes, lol!).
Aww!
So gorgeous! I love how this shade swatches – honestly NYX is coming out with such great products!
They have some gems in their range!
I’m so glad this got a good mark as well. They Didn’t have this shades in store to play with in the Toronto flagship store.
It’s a nice one 🙂
Pretty color! I do love me some duochromes. That’s too bad about the white base though – it makes them so much harder to wear, I’ll have to pass.
It does take a little extra effort!
Yep, it’s a bit light, but I would still love using it like you mentioned: over something. This does remind me of MAC Vex eyeshadow! I have actually used that eyeshadow as a highlighter on occasion for an ethereal sheen on top of my cheekbones.
Exactly 😀 Perfect over something else!
Hey! I have Vex! Why didn’t I think of that? brb, going to cover myself in shimmer…
Whiteness apparent? Subtle duo chrome shift? Count me in!
Enjoy it, Rae!
This would be too light for me to use alone, (and probably too cool as well), but I love the pink/lavender pearl.
The shift is pretty!
This is on the wishlist. I really like it, and even though everything cost more here, NYX is still very affordable. I think I can buy this without falling off my low buy train.
NYX is at a nice price point!
Very pretty on pale complexions and the price is a winner. But if I had a darker skintone I don’t think it would be worth it.
It would be nice on lighter skin tones!
I just drooled into my keyboard. I need this yesterday. So affordable and different enough from Pearl to justify the purchase.
It will be lovely on you, Erin!
Oh shiz, NYX made a giant version of something that’s like the Alchemist palette! This is cool.
Very similar!
Ice queen! 🙂
It is definitely cool!
I just purchased this (along with Twilight Tint) and it was GORGEOUS. I’m definitely along the paler end of things so I didn’t need to layer it, but it added such a fun pop of color. 😀
This hit me hard out of nowhere! I love and appreciate highlighters but it’s a catagory that I have edited to a handful of favorites. I just don’t get excited about them because I’m so pale and they tend to enhance texture ( what up spider bite scar on MY FACE)! But this one…this one is going to be mine all mine! I need to investigate the fastest way to get this beauty in my hands and all over my face lol
