Tarte Greatest Glitz Collector’s Set
Tarte Greatest Glitz Collector’s Set ($49.00 for 1.23 oz.) includes 24 eyeshadows, three blushes, travel-sized mascara, and a twist-up jumbo lip crayon. It’s a mixed bag; some are nice, some are duds, and some are somewhere in-between. It’s a lot of product for your money, so if the shades appeal to you, and you generally like Tarte’s formula and typically wear a primer, it might be worth looking at. They are more dupable shades than not, and you’ll find some shades are similar (enough) to past Tarte releases. I liked how the palettes were separate from the packaging, so you can easily ditch the exterior (with the sequins), though that’s obviously a lot of waste. They could have made this a lot slimmer by skipping the lip crayon and mascara, as that is all that is contained in the drawer!

The packaging is tons better than Light of the Party set. I really wish Tarte had chose the metallic chevron design for all the packaging, and left off the sequins. I like sequins, but some of their packaging this year looks pretty gaudy.
I’ll be passing, though. The quality just isn’t consistently good enough.

First off, the eye looks you made with this are AMAZING! I’m always so jealous of your ability to pull together such amazing looks. I need to step up my game and pratice more!
Secondly, I think that the packaging is actually a jewelry box. So you can take out the palettes, lipstick, and mascara and poof, jewelry box. Of course if you don’t like the packaging then you’re stuck with it and it’s huge. But you could always gift it and I don’t know that anyone would guess it previously held cosmetics. I actually don’t understand why it’s not advertised as being a jewelry box. Since that’s clearly what it is.
The drawer is really funky (it doesn’t pull out much), so I don’t know if it would work that well for jewelry, but maybe I wasn’t opening it properly!
I have it as well and it doesn’t open all the way. It is strange that it’s not fully functional and I assume there is a reason (so they didn’t have to include more product?). I just wish that they made it clear it houses the palettes, afterwards it can be used as a jewelry box, and that it functions properly as such. I think it’d have made all the difference.
I also purchased and thought the drawer wasn’t working properly but after removing the plastic case that holds the lipstick and mascara the drawer opens completely.
I think these brands,ie: Tarte, Too Faced would behoove themselves if they would make ONE, and only ONE holiday palette per year and make it stellar quality rather than cranking out a bunch that are so pathetically subpar! I’ll be sticking with MUFE, MAC,, and now, MUG too.
And depending on how UD addresses their latest debacle, perhaps redeeming themselves, then of course them too.
Maybe they should try that strategy next year!

Wow, I like MOST of those colors! Too bad they have carmine. I like the fact that they are shiny and not all mattes and a lot of those colors are really pretty.
I guess the fact that they have carmine helps me save my money. . . .

I’ve always heard people say that if you own several pallets from tatre that almost all the colors are similar. Looking at the dupess for each color I would say it’s true. I didn’t realize how often the colors repeated themselves. Which is sad that they can’t be a little more inventive especially for a holiday set. I did want this because I thought the setup was cute. In a roundabout way I pretty much own all the shades. Thanks for saving me some money!
They’re definitely one of the worst offenders for repetitiveness!
What a lot of work you have done swatching this enormous set of palettes for a poor result! This is like all the other Tarte colours and products lately. I think the Too Faced Holiday set is much better value if you are going down this neutral route. An easy pass I think.
LOL! There is a sense of, “All that for an ehh palette!” but we wouldn’t know if it was just eh without the full regimen!
Oh, how disappointing. Not only has the quality so hit-or-miss in this palette, I feel like Tarte has been recycling the same ol’ shadow colors/blushes for the last few years, just using new names. If you have 1 big Tarte palette, I think you have them all. I suggest spending more time reviewing products from other brands, like Sugarpill, Kiko, MUG, etc. I think Burberry, Tom Ford, and Charlotte Tilbury also have holiday collections out or releasing soon

Pretty, pretty! There’s a lot of hit and miss here though, and that’s a shame. But you can’t deny that the packaging is really beautiful.

I was never considering this, but I had to check out the swatches on these. I’m so disappointed in Tarte and Too Faced holiday releases, they’re just so awful!!! The worst part is, to me, that the most beautiful and more unique shades are the worst performers of the bunch. They’re almost hilariously bad. Another thing that bugs me- in the verbiage where they list what the eyeshadow is formulated without, they list sodium laureth sulfate. That’s ridiculous, since no makeup product on earth contains SLS, or SLEs. They’re lathering agents in shampoos and body washes.
