Editor's Review

MAC Trace Gold Blush ($21.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a "gold with shimmer [with a Sheertone Shimmer finish]." It's a warm-toned, gold and copper-shimmered, medium orange-brown. It has a rather frosted finish. Wet 'n' Wild Bikini Contest is darker, browner, less shimmery. Physicians Formula Light Bronzer is more orange, lighter. Urban Decay Baked is slightly darker. NARS Luster is more orange, warmer. MAC Center of the Universe is darker. See comparison swatches.

My complexion is light-medium with yellow undertones (NC20, maybe NC25 in the summer), and finding good a good shimmery bronze can be tricky for me. Most hyped shimmery bronzer are definitely too dark for me. The powder blush Trace Gold works on me more like a shimmery bronzer applied to my cheeks. It's coppery tone add a nice warmth to my skin, very natural if lightly applied. It's not very shimmery, but the frost adds just a little glow. Since I am already warm toned, this does not look warm on me. The texture is almost smooth, almost no powdery fall-out. The shimmer will emphasize pores, but that's what always expected. My natural go-to look definitely includes just a swipe of this on the cheeks. This doubles as an eye shadow too. I use it as an all over the lid muted shimmer.

On my NW35 skin this is not a blusher at all, but does work to help get that Jo Lo glow, the Miami bronzed glowing skin look on tan skin that is so pretty. It is a fairly sheer golden frosty powder and blends out easily, leaving a glowing gold look to the skin. I am not sure how it would look on a lighter skin tone, I think on medium to darker tones this would give a beautiful glow to the skin without a ton of actual color, just a light gold that will blend in well with the skin giving is radiance. It did emphasize pores a bit, it is shimmery and that is expected, but it worked well across my forehead, bridge of nose and cheekbones in place of bronzer. I will probably never use this enough to purchase again, but I am not sorry it is in my collection. I recommend for medium to dark skin tones, and will revise this if I ever get to use it on someone fair skinned and like it!
