Urban Decay Vice 4 Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Vice 4 Eyeshadow Palette
Urban Decay Vice 4 Eyeshadow Palette ($60.00 for 0.60 oz.) includes twenty, new and limited edition eyeshadows, just in time to kick off a long, holiday season of palettes. If you have a great disdain for Urban Decay’s micro-glitter or sparkle, then I would avoid this palette like the plague; eleven shades have micro-glitter, per the brand, and one more has “tonal sparkle.” Some are noticeable in practice, other shades have less and most sparkles drop during application so there isn’t as much fall out during wear, but I would recommend an adhesive primer for best results and minimal fall out. If you have a lot of Urban Decay palettes, you may find that there is more overlap with past iterations (even though these are technically new!). There are some really great shades in this palette, like Underhand, Discreet, Harlot, and Robbery, but there are some duds, like Grip, Flame, Low, and Crowbar.
Bones is described as an “oyster satin with pearl.” It’s a light beige with cooler undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a fairly soft, blendable consistency that wasn’t too thin or dry. It lasted for eight hours on me. MAC Phresh Out #1 (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Polyester Bride (DC, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Hourglass Graphite #5 (PiP, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Pure Bred #1 (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). theBalm Promiscuous Pearl (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Grip is described as a “taupe matte with iridescent micro-glitter.” It’s a faded, medium taupe with warm, brown tones and light sparkle (more sparkle than glitter to me). It’s the type of sparkle where most of it gets lost and doesn’t adhere to the skin without some sort of adhesive base. It was firmer in texture with sheerer coverage and was one of the less easy-to-use shades in the palette. The color faded afters even and a half hours. LORAC Navy #5 (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NABLA Cosmetics Dreamer (P, $8.00) is lighter (90% similar). KVD Beauty Ashes (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Deadbeat is described as a “black satin with iridescent micro-glitter.” It’s a dark, charcoal gray with cooler undertones and a smattering of iridescent teal shimmer. The texture was on the powdery side, but if you use a light touch, it is blendable on the eye without a lot of effort. It lasted for eight hours on me, and I didn’t notice any fall out. Dior Eternal Gold #5 (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Hourglass Graphite #4 (PiP, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Plumluxe #5 (PiP, ) is lighter (95% similar). Beat Down is described as a “deep metallic violet with blue micro-glitter.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark violet purple with cool, blue undertones and a pearly sheen. I really didn’t notice the micro-glitter at all when I swatched or used it on the eye. The texture was a little on the firmer side, so a flatter brush works better with this one. It wore well for eight hours. Natasha Denona Blue Dahlia (181DC) (LE, $29.00) is warmer (95% similar). Sugarpill Weekender (P, $13.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Pandemonium is described as a “metallic plum with iridescent micro-glitter.” It’s a blackened plum with subtle, warmer undertones and a frosted sheen paired with pink sparkle. It had a drier consistency with noticeable sparkle fall out during application, but most of the sparkle seems to drop during that initial application. It had semi-opaque pigmentation and lasted for seven hours. bareMinerals Romp (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Smolder (PiP, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Fast-Ball is described as a “metallic peachy pink with pink micro-glitter.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with warm, coral-y tones and sheen. The micro-glitter gets quite lost in this shade, and I didn’t notice it during application or later on during wear. The color payoff was so-so with a consistency that would do better over a primer. 1985 is described as a “metallic fuchsia with fuchsia micro-glitter.” It’s a brightened, fuchsia with cool, purple tones and a frosted sheen. It had good pigmentation with a soft, buttery consistency that was really easy to work with. Anastasia Brick (P, $12.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Dali Wood (PiP, $17.00) is cooler (95% similar). Urban Decay Cayenne (PiP, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). Flame is described as a “bright orange with gold micro-glitter.” It’s a medium coral-orange with gold glitter and sparkles. It had semi-opaque pigmentation but had a grittier texture due to the amount of glitter in it, and it tended to fall apart on the skin: prone to sheering out and fading, plus fall out during wear. MAC Pink Pepper (LE, $21.00) is cooler (95% similar). NYX Golden Peach (P, $6.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Miser (LE, $4.50) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever D750 Frosted Peach (DC, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Buxom Glitz Factor (P, $12.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Low is described as a “brown matte with iridescent micro-glitter.” It’s a muted, dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and large chunks of silver glitter. It had semi-sheer color, as the base color was firmer and stiffer, with a lot of glitter that sat loosely on top and got everywhere. MAC Silver Dawn (P, $20.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Sketchbook (LE, $17.00) is warmer (95% similar). ColourPop 90210 (LE, $6.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Starlight #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Stila Smoky Storm (P, $24.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Bao Bao's Jewels #4 (LE, ) is more pigmented (90% similar). bareMinerals Embellish (LE, ) is warmer (90% similar). Crowbar is described as a “black with golden metallic pearl and micro-glitter.” It’s an olive green with warm undertones and large gold glitter over a metallic finish. It had good pigmentation, but the consistency was drier and loose, and the glitter didn’t bind with the color, so there was a lot of fall out during application. The underlying color lasted for seven and a half hours but I had some fall out over time, too. Urban Decay Vortex (DC, $20.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Fiction (DC, $17.00) is less shimmery, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Stash (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Delete is described as a “deep chestnut brown matte-satin.” It’s a dark brown with warm, reddish tones and a mostly matte finish. It had great color payoff with a soft, silky texture that was just a smidgen on the powdery side but blended out well and wore for eight hours. Hourglass Obscura #4 (PiP, ) is warmer (95% similar). Chanel Charming #4 (LE, ) is warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Played Out (LE, $4.50) is lighter (95% similar). LORAC Hickory (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). The shades are pretty but not super unique. I have two other Vice palettes and I hardly ever reach for them so this one will be a skip too!
Sounds like a good call!
I think this is my favorite Vice yet! I’m so happy about the cool toned shades 😀 Those greens and purples are calling my name.
Enjoy, Lorrin!
Those eye looks are to die for! They seal the deal for me, and now I NEED this palette. Is there any way you can post a tutorial for these looks? I mostly wear neutrals (for work), but I’m usually lost when it comes to color.
I tend to apply in the same way – inner, middle, outer third, crease – use a small eyeshadow brush (I used MAC 239s) and tapered crease brush! I don’t have any tutorials for these planned, though 🙁
Seriously, she is the queen of “smash a bunch of colors together and make them look fabulous” lol.
Yes! Even with terrible quality shadows. I don’t know how she does it, but I suspect magic.
Haha Charlotte and Rachel!!! I’ve often thought the same things. I don’t know how she does it, but it truly does seem like magic sometimes!
Woooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats such a detailed review 🙂
hats off to you dear
Thank you, Rashmi!!
Did you find the formula was more on par with the better quality UD shadows, or disappointing like last year’s Vice 3?
(I had the same issues with Vice 3 that you found)
More of a mix; some are nice, some aren’t, but they were less dry/powdery compared to last year’s.
Sold! I was hoping that this would get it a good review and I’ll take a B–especially since I always use primer and that should help with some of the stuff I think. But I love me some glitter/shimmer (Pixie Epoxy is a gift from the gods) and the colors that I was interested in got good ratings.
You should be okay if you use Pixie Epoxy 🙂
Yes! Pixie Epoxy is a staple!
Urban decay palettes are just not my thing. I tend to like a few shadows, but never in large enough number to really make use their whole palettes. I do not like their shimmer shadows on me which tend toward some nasty fallout. My Naked 2 and 3 and Vice 3 sit collecting dust. I make far more use out of a Lorac or Tarte palette..which typically include more matte shades, less intense shimmer shades. These new palettes are an easy pass for me. I love other products by UD, but not their eyeshadows.
If you are not keen on shimmer or fall out, this is definitely an easy pass!!
What exactly is “tonal sparkle”?
Such a shame… I had high hopes for this, but I like the Spectrum a lot more. I hope that gets a better score! The packaging is super pretty though.
I assume it is pretty much in the same color family – e.g. teal sparkle on top of teal eyeshadow.
Overall, this palette doesn’t seem too bad. I’ll keep it on the maybe list. Love the green look that you came up with. Very pretty.
Thank you, Kimmy!
I love the looks you created; but it’s an easy pass for me. I wish there had been more semi-matte/satin and matte shades to make it truly versatile.
I don’t think they needed quite so many “with micro-glitter” shades, lol.
I really think they would be better served to lay out a theme, or maybe a theme per row, instead of just a mismash of colors… even just add a bottom row of matte neutrals…but the hype on these is so high they can just throw whatever in there and still sell thousands of them.
Limit for the season: just one Holiday palette, so there is a big dilemma: to take or not to take? 🙂
Oooh, that will be a tough decision!
Hmmm I bought vice 3 which had the same grade, so I will probably get this. Let’s see what Mr. Budget says
I look forward to seeing if Mr. Budget says yay or nay!
You know why your reviews are the best? Because you always supply enough details so that I know exactly WHY a color is less than stellar. All but maybe one or two of the average/below average shades have issues that don’t particularly bother me. So while they fall short of brand claims or require extra products to work, they still will work for me.
The downside is, there isn’t anything in this review that’s going to save me money. 😉
LOL! Sorry I couldn’t save you any money this time 😉
I’m not a fan of the glittery UD shades. I really like the color of C-Note though, I will have to go through my stash and see how close I can get. Maybe Colourpop Sleigh dabbed on top of some bluish green that I never use. Or Colourpop Krinkle over MAC Silver Sun…
I bet that combo would work! Silver Sun is certainly in the ballpark on its own.
What a wonderfully in-depth and detailed review. Adore your photos and the mention of dupes. I love that Urban Decay always name their eyeshadows even when they are in a palette. I don’t know if I will get this one, some of the colours look lovely, but there are probably a few I would never wear.
Thanks so much, Kiran!
I can see how this would be a nice palette to have for someone else, but the shade selection and sparkle really aren’t me. I can’t believe holiday palette reviews are already coming out!
The holiday season is here, lol!
Ack. It all looks so pretty from afar! But I’m not a fan of glitter. I am okay with shimmer and some microglitter, but… this level of fallout? :/
How do these compare, glitterbomb-wise, to something like Maui Wowie (which is past the point of okay, for me)?
The ones where I say you can’t really tell that it’s glittery… less. The ones like Flame, way worse.
Well, sad as that is, I thank you for the buyer beware! Better to know now than get reeeally excited and then heartbroken.
The swatches confirmed it — this is a definite pass for me. The colours just aren’t interesting enough. Thanks for helping me save some money, Christine! Your efforts are truly appreciated.
Always happy to help, Erin! 🙂
I think I’m in trouble because Vice 4 has some uber lovely shades in it! And the quality seems to have improved overall as well. ? But the question for me is: “where in heck do I put this???” Hahaha! I do still love my last 2 Vice palettes, 3 and LTD (probably because warmer shades draw me in a bit more), so they stay in my wheeled narrow Sterlite, of which a wheel broke off because of the excess weight contained within! ?
Uh oh! It is better than last year’s overall, despite the fall out, the texture in general seemed better and they were easier to use without primer.
I think I’ll probably cave and get this but will swatch in store first (that’s the drawback of the other one that is only available from UD! GRRRR). What a shame about the aptly named “LOW” – it looks SO pretty and do loads of other shades. I’ll just have to do a glitter check on ’em.
I wish brands that did an exclusive in the U.S. would figure out how to make it exclusive internationally, too – like pick a retailer, man!
I’m getting it because I have all of the Vice palettes since they started. So, I’m not impressed with the quality. But, with TF Glitter Glue, hopefully it will be at least a B+. At least it’s not awful. If it was awful , I would have to break my collection possibly. I have a daughter to pass my legacy to, lol!
I love the looks Christine. I think I will have to copy them with a primer. Thanks for the prompt review! 🙂
Thank you, Nicole! Glitter Glue should help a lot, and just make sure to do eyes first, face second 🙂
Got it. Thanks for the forewarning !:)
It’s interesting how some of the neutral, lighter colors didn’t swatch as well, but overall, a good score for this kit. I like Crowbar, but I have 4 of the dupes already ( TF Raw Jade, Milani Bella Khaki, CP Hammered, and UD Vortex). But I like the colors of the Spectrum palette more, will await your review on that one
It’s not bad, it’s not great. If there was less fall out, I think it would have been closer to a B+!
About what I expected from the swatches. I’ll still get it, because the colors I liked best did well, and I wear primer all the time, anyway. I can deal with some fallout and a couple of “just OK” shades. The packaging tips the scales for me.
Enjoy it, Rachel 🙂
Thanks for all that information! It’s a really cool looking palette, but I’d prefer more consistency (and less glitter!).
No problem, Lyn!
I’m so disappointed by fastball and flame. 🙁 I’m really impressed they managed to do two super pale lavender-y colors though. I have about eight lavender shadows and it doesn’t matter if i use them wet over a white base and primer they still fade. I’ll probably be sold once i swatch in store.
Keep us posted if you snag this, Hannah!
Did you mean to leave the individual names off the swatch photo captions? It’s so much easier to match up the “hits and misses” when you put them. But thank you, as always, for such a detailed review you made the ‘yea or nay’ decision a simple and quick one.
I’m so sorry – total idiot over here, it took eight hours to write the review and I took a few breaks – forgot to label the photos. I normally write in one go, but this one took forever to write. I’m so sorry!
Glitter is my middle name. I like Urban Decay’s glitter bom shadows, but I have so many shadows. These colors just don’t appeal to me.
They do start to run together after you’ve accumulated a few palettes from UD!
Christine, will any of these shades be available individually?
Not at this time!
Love that green look on you Christine!
I have Vice 2 & 3 already, but I think I need this one too. I’m such a sucker for these palettes. I wish UD just wouldn’t bother putting glitter in shades when it isn’t going to show up on the eye. I’d rather have a matte, just be matte. They did the same thing in Vice 3.
How does Arctic compare to Freeze in Vice 3?
http://www.temptalia.com/side-by-side?sbs_1_search=Freeze&sbs_1=174746&sbs_2_search=Arctic&sbs_2=206070
Thanks for the review–I’m definitely going to skip Vice and get Spectrum!
No prob, Jammies!
Yeah, this is a pass for me. I’d like a single of Pandemonium, though! Are you listening UD?
Fingers crossed for ya, Erin!
Christine!!! Thank you sooo much for your hard work in swatching, telling us the performance, and then giving us the dupes!!! I thought all the colors in this palette spoke to me, but I thought I should wait on your review to see if I have dupes. Sure enough, I have dupes for nearly every shade I loved, except for Harlot and Flame.
I find it quite amazing that several microglitter shades don’t have fallout. That’s impressive. I think I might consider this palette anyway–bc it keeps everything I love in one place.
My pleasure, Maggie! 🙂
The three green, blue, turquoise shades are so gorgeous.
They are!
Oh man, only a B? That’s really strange about the formula because glamlifeguru on YouTube said that Urban Decay used a different formula for this palette where they were supposed to be long wearing with minimal fallout. Then again she did use a primer with the look she did with it. It is bad I just want the palette for the packaging? ;D
Better than last year… at least, lol!
I can’t decide, so this palette is a maybe for me. I like it, love some of the eyeshadows, but there will be so much fun, well at least one can hope, stuff coming out the next three or so months.
If I get this, I might just have to try to find Pixie Epoxy or whatever it’s called, seemes like a good thing to have anyway.
Love the looks, especially the green one.
Thank you, Helene!
The shades are lovely – but not unique. All the shades I love – the greens, taupes etc are ones I already have and have a better rating/quality. 13 of the colours I really would not use as they don’t suit my colouring so it is ultimately easy for me to leave this palette alone.
I absolutely love the eye looks you have created with this palette Christine – especially the green toned one.
I am a bit disappointed with the overall rating, I was hoping/expecting an A. But there you go….
I also meant to say thank you so much for your detailed review. It must have taken many long hours and lots of effort. It is greatly appreciated.
I’m glad you have similar shades that are better in your stash, Genevieve!
Christine, your reviews are always on point! ☺ I have always found your good reviews end up as favorites and the few things that I have bought despite less than glowing reviews from you I am always disappointed with. I have all 3 vice pallets and I never reach for them. This one will definitely be a pass for me. Keep up the good work, yours is the opinion I flat out trust when trying to decide if a product/ palette is worth the investment . You are my hero!! Laurie
Aww! Thank you so very much, Laurie <3
I’m getting this! I passed on previous Vice palettes (not enough shades I liked in any of them), but this one looks right up my alley!
Woohoo! Enjoy it, Carrie!
Eh, not into this one. I haven’t been excited over a Vice palette since the Vice 2.
On the other hand, Beat Down reminds me of my beloved Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow in Ransom! I wish they had a similar shade in their permanent line… :/
They need to bring back Ransom!
To be honest I’m really unsure about this palette, as a collector and lover of packaging and the words ‘limited edition’ I feel the need to buy it but I also know I hardly ever use my Vice 3 and I’m a much bigger fan of mattes than shimmers so I think I’ll really wait on this product, if I really want it in November I’ll get it at Sephora’s annual sale maybe but for now I think I’ll pass! Thanks for all the work that I know this review took! and those looks are amazing!!
If you don’t use Vice 3 and prefer mattes, skip!
Again, like with the other vice palettes as well, there is just not enough shades I like in this palette to justify buying it. Y_Y
I hear you! 🙁
I swear Beat Down is a Frigid re-promote
http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-deluxe-eyeshadows-ruthless-freakshow-frigid
Thanks for the quality review, as always Christine!
There are similarities for sure!
Hi Christine, I’ve been a huge fan of the blog for years and I love the new design but there’s something about the mobile website… I don’t know, I feel like on every post I had to scroll down FOREVER just to get to the pictures and swatches and even on the main page I have to scroll down quite a bit to see each post. It wasn’t like this before. It’s definitely giving my right thumb a workout as I visit this blog multiple times a day. Just thought I’d share my thoughts. Thank you for all your hard work Christine!
The post length is the same? I’m not sure. If you are on phone, then everything is designed so you can read it without zooming in, so maybe that’s why?
Yeah maybe that’s why the pages seem longer to me on my iphone. Either way love the blog and all the hard work that was put into the new design
I think the same thing, I think what I miss about the old format is that the overall grade and gloss overs used to be at the top, with the detailed reviews being under them and only showing all of it if you clicked on the “see more” option
I am SO relieved that I don’t want this. I have Vice 1,2,and 3 and I think that’s sufficient. Flame is pretty though.
lol, phew!
Yep, no-brainer. I’m getting this. I did alright with Vice 3 since I always wear primer, and I’ve worn some of the stupider fall-out fest shades in the past (Maui Wowie, anyone?), so this’ll be fine.
The packaging is gorgeous. That rarely sways me, but it’s a bonus!
Enjoy it, Quinctia ;D
On the fence… I want it because it’s a Vice palette and I’m a tragic addict, but I hate UD micro glitter most of the time and the colours aren’t as wow as last year’s. I guess I’ll see if I like the grade of the Spectrum palette more.
Awww!
That’s not for me. I have a ton of colorful eyeshadows and I don’t use them very often so I don’t need more. And, with so much makeup, I’ve decided not to buying anything unless it’s top quality and superunique for me.
Oh, the green look it’s stunning.
Definitely sounds like a pass 😉
Ugh. I’m feeling so conflicted about this palette. (<<– Translate as: "I've been trying my best to figure out a way to justify buying it!") I might have to pass on Vice this year. I'm hoping one of the other brands will release a palette I could get more use from. If not, I've been thinking about getting the original Lorac Unzipped. You know… because I really NEED more eyeshadow. *smh*
I’m sure there will be plenty of palettes to come!
Given that this was the first Vice palette to catch my interest since the first one, I’m a little disappointed in the quality of the shades. Considering UD has frequently done A+ palettes in the past, this trend of newer palettes ranging in the B territory is a little glaring. Flare is gorgeous, though, and it’s a shame it and Chaos are not singles.
Oh no! 🙁 It is better than last year, at least.
Will this palette be available at Sephora ?
Yes!
Loving the packaging and don’t own any Vice palettes so I was eagerly awaiting this one! I am trying to avoid buying palettes with shades or dupes of what I already have. The only UD palettes I own are the Ammo and Smoked. Which palette-the Spectrum or Vice 4- would you recommend?
I prefer Spectrum, but keep in mind that I don’t like Vice4 personally.
I don’t know if it’s because the quality is getting worse or I’m getting older, but UD’s beginning to lose me. I have the previous Vice palettes and while I enjoyed them, I only got 3 because of work. 4 and the other LE palette just seem to have either the exact same colors or something very similar. I’ll swatch these at my job when we finally get the tester but it looks like I’ll just look for dupes for the more unique colors that I don’t have like Beatdown.
Also, I see that on the dupes page it still lists UD shadows at $18. Unfortunately, UD’s raised the price of the single eyeshadows to $19.
Thanks – we’ll update the price! It’s not automatic, so everything has to be done manually by me – unfortunately I cannot keep up with every brand’s price changes!
Thank you for being so thorough. I read about all of the shadows. I almost skipped this palette. What really sold me is that you said the micro glitter isn’t too strong in some of these…I’m ok with it but not a fan of micro glitter. If it’s tame in some, I can work with it. Last year’s vice 3 is actually a fave of mine with it’s mix of neutrals and wearable color. I guess I’ll have to actually play with the vice 4 but hoping for a few colors I will love. I wish it contained more mattes. UD makes great mattes but they seem to favor making them. Other than that, nice range of new colors that I’ll be excited to add to my massive UD collection 🙂
My pleasure, Tami! xo
For anyone wondering this is live on sephora.ca
Yay!
Great review and thank you for so many details..I bought it b/c I am a collector but the micro glitter is really turning me away these days. There are about 5 or 6 colors that I will use but forget the mega micro glitter ones…:-( Otherwise it’s a pretty assortment of colors
My pleasure, Tami!!
There is so much micro-glitter in this year’s palette, unfortunately 🙁 Try Too Faced Glitter Glue!
Since I have the Vice 3, plus the 15th Anniversary, this one is a pass for me as I’m all shimmered out! I opted for Kat Von D’s Mi Vida Loca Remix instead. The colours are just so wonderfully vibrant, that it made the Vice 4 look almost muted in comparison!
I like to have both a neutral shadow blend out into some seriously vibrant shades, so the KVD palette is absolutely spot on for me, as there are plenty of mattes to work with while having the odd shimmer just to jazz up the end result should I so desire.
Am desperate to try the Mi Vida, which I bought today along with the Anastasia Artist palette, and a couple of Nars lip pencils. Roll on delivery day!!
Enjoy all your new palette, Jude!
Did you like Vice 4 or Spectrum better? Can’t pick which one to get :/
I prefer Spectrum!
amazing review and photos much appreciate will for sure purchase :0
Thanks, Vendela!
I’m gonna do it! I get one holiday palette so I need to get this one and call it a day! I’ve never tried a UD palette but I am fan of the shimmers..they also have 20% off for this, last day! Thankyou for the review❤
Enjoy, Meka!
I own the vice 2, I think that I will get this one and depot the good shadows. Then I will put that shadows into the places of the bad ones in my vice 2…
Oh, nice!
I’m a cool toned pale skin type and I find it very hard to decide whether I should get Vice 4 or Spectrum (I don’t any of the included shades yet). What would you recommend?
I think either will work, but you may prefer Spectrum!
Thanks Christine 🙂 That’s what I thought but I like the Vice4 palette design more. Decisions, decisions…
I ordered this online and not sure whether to keep it or not. A few too many sparkle shades for me. I really want the shades printed on the box, they are richer and deeper with just a hint of shimmer. Very disappointing as I really wanted to adore this.
Return it if you don’t wear it!
How similar is the shade crowbar to the Laura mercier wet dry baked eye shadow in black karat? I bought it but then returned it after swatching but now I really really really miss it =(
I don’t think I have that 🙁
It is definitely S duos. I ended up buying the palette and returned the LM eye shadow….and now this palette is on sale and I’m ?????? for buying it during the VIB sale (amongst other things that I got and are now on sale too….and with the sale on sale promotion I’m like ?????)
I would never have paid full price for this palette. But suddenly it’s on sale for $39 pretty much everywhere, and I had a 20% off ULTA coupon burning a hole in my pocket. Sold!
Nice!
I just picked this up about a month ago, and I have to say, I’m a little disappointed in the palette. The colours look gorgeous in their pans, but even when I swatched them, I had to take so much to get colour payoff. I think I might give the palette to a friend of mine who has been lusting after it and just pick up a few of the dupes. Flame, Arctic, Underhand, Fast Ball, and Grasshopper are gorgeous colours but I think if I’d have just gotten those individually I’d have been just as happy.
Crowbar is freaking gorgeous, and I was sad I couldn’t get it to be as heavily pigmented as the swatches. It reminds me of a lighter version of Scorpio from their Moondust shadows, and it might even be good to tap over the top to give it a little extra gold sparkle, but overall, this palette just isn’t for me. The packaging was brilliant, the case is sturdy as heck, and I loved the pouch it came in.
Overall I think my friend will be love it and she’ll get a lot out of it, and that’s all that really matters to me. God bless that dupe list.
