I recently shared updated photographs and swatches of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) range, and I thought it was high time to do a recap, which will also include shades reviewed in the less-distant past that are permanent (hopefully, they’ve made quite a few modifications to the core range in the last two years, apparently!).

I’m a long-time fan of the formula, and I regularly use them in looks still (probably a decade now of use!). They’re not quite the longest-wearing formula for me, but they wear long and well enough while being easy to remove. I can also attest to the fact that they don’t dry out quickly over time, either.

Some of the shimmer shades have to be built up or can be overly emollient so they don’t go on as evenly as they should, while a few of the more matte/cream-based shades migrate slightly to the outer corner after eight to nine hours of wear. For the most part, they last a solid nine to 10 hours on me (the point where there’s visible fading/migration/thinning), have semi-opaque to opaque coverage, and are comfortable to work with.

Below, you’ll find the top 40 shades by rating… But as a PS: we recently updated the look and feel of product pages, and you’ll now find top rated and recommended shades of a formula viewable on a formula’s page! 🙂

Me, too. I think some have even improved from the last go-round. Suspect any i don’t have will be hauled. When SG does liners, I’m in serious, severe trouble. (She says, rubbing highly washed hands together.)

I love UD eyeliners, I have so many of these shades. Rockstar is my most used and the only eyeliner pencil I’ve repurchased. My only complaint, is they will not stay on my lower water unless I place a little shadow on top to set.

Big surprise – those are the same ones that caught my eye too. I don’t have Mushroom (I have the eyeshadow though) because I noticed a while back that grey liners seem to make me look tired but I’m tempted to give it a try nevertheless because it is a beauty. I only wish that UD would make Lannister Gold permanent – “reformulate” it, give it another name that doesn’t involve copyright – just bring back a shade like that in the permanent line. There isn’t another pencil liner available here that even comes close.

urban decay has the greatest selection of colors, which apply easily and last a good long while. unfortunately, i had to give the ones i had away. when i use them on my waterline, they go on well and last, but after several hours, i notice that my eyes start to feel uncomfortable–a bit itchy, a bit like something is in them. if i don’t take it off my eye makeup promptly, i will end up with a filmy, blurry vision and very irritated eyes. it breaks my heart because of all the beautiful colors i lust after, but UD pencil eyeliner is just not for me.

Thanks for doing all these, Christine! It’s my go-to pencil eyeliner formula and I the shades are beautiful (even though now that I see them, they could really do with more cool neutral and gray colors). Mushroom and Cuff are two of my all time fave eyeliners and I’ve added several other pretties to my wishlist. 🙂

I liked them more back in the day. I don’t know what happened, but they are so creamy now they smear like crazy on my eyes. Yes, I use primer. Yes I use UD primer and have since it was in the genie bottle.

It’s also weird I can’t use them on my waterline. As a contact wearer, sometimes certain liners will make my lens film over and stick to my eyeball and it has to be (uncomfortably) removed and cleaned before I can put it back in after removing the liner.

UH, I thought I was the only one! I used them for more than a decade, they were always amazing. Super waterproof, never disappeared, no need for primer as well. Yet, for the last few years formula seemed to get worse and worse. I don’t know, maybe ones sold in US are better, but ones I bought outside of US just get more and more terrible.
Given the fact, that my skin got drier over the years, I don’t think the problem is in the skin of mine.
