Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches (Part 3 of 5)
Electric
Urban Decay Electric 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a bright, light-medium blue with moderate, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that looked more opaque when applied as a lower lash line shade, but it was hard to build up to absolutely opaque coverage due to the slip.
The texture was slightly more emollient than other shades in the range, though consistent with the more metallic finish shades (which all run a bit creamier). It wore well for eight hours before fading/thinning visibly on me.

Formula Overview
$22.00/0.04 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly, stay soft and super-creamy for blending" before it "dries to a long-lasting finish that won't budge" with "intense" coverage. I'm a long-time fan and user of the formula--almost a decade now--and they're still a go-to. I keep a handful of formulas at my fingertips, and I have all of the shades from this range in a cup within reach.
It isn't the longest-wearing formula I've come across, but I find that it balances longevity with creaminess in application and ease of removal at the end. They also wear away "kindly," so while the line might get thinner, it doesn't drag or bleed toward my under eye area. The formula has solid, long-wear at eight to 10 hours before fading, thinning, or having a bit of migration to the outer corner. The less shimmery shades tend to have the most visible movement, whereas the more shimmery shades tend to fade or thin.
The pigmentation varies a lot from shade to shade with more matte shades often having the most coverage in a single layer, followed by more metallic finishes. The more glittery the finish, the weaker the coverage and application were. Many of the shades in the range are buildable and apply with near-to or opaque coverage when applied in short, overlapping strokes. The majority are very comfortable to apply on the lower lash line or waterline.
They have a creamy, glide-on consistency as promised, and they can be smudged or blended out, so they are particularly useful for someone who likes a more diffused look for their eyeliner.
As someone who has had a lot of these eyeliners over time, I can attest to the fact that they do not dry out readily. Some of the shades I have that I don't use (because they're THAT old) are still creamy and glide-on when swatched.

Freak
Urban Decay Freak 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a brighter, lime green with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The color coverage was semi-opaque in a single stroke, which built up slightly but could have applied more evenly when layered.
If kept as a thinner line, the unevenness wasn’t as noticeable as it could have been. The consistency was smooth, velvety, and comfortable to apply and work with on my lash line. There was slight thinning/fading present after eight hours of wear.

Invasion
Urban Decay Invasion 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a blackened teal that leaned slightly greener (rather than bluer) with a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that adhered evenly and smoothly to my lash line without tugging or pulling on it.
The consistency was creamy, wetter than some of the other shades in the range, but glided on comfortably. It took longer to set, which made it particularly easy to smudge, and thankfully, it didn’t seem to migrate into fine lines as it was drying down. There was slight migration after nine and a half hours of wear.

Junkie
Urban Decay Junkie 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a bright pop of blue-teal with strong, cool undertones and flecks of green-gold shifting sparkle. I’ve been using (and loving) this shade for years, despite its more lackluster “performance” when it comes to a review.
I find that it is more semi-opaque in a single layer, and while it can be built up, it does take some finessing to even out the shimmer as it doesn’t spread as evenly as it could. The texture was quite creamy, smooth, and comfortable to work with. It stayed on well for nine and a half hours before migrating slightly.

Urban Decay Loaded 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a blackened, forest green with cooler undertones and fine, emerald green pearl throughout. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff that adhered evenly to my lower lash line and glided comfortably across it.
The texture was velvety, smooth, and easy to work with as it was smudgeable but didn’t migrate/move readily as it set. It lasted nicely for 10 hours before fading/thinning visibly.

Stash
PPermanent. $22.00.
P.S. — These are not new! A couple of years ago, Urban Decay sent out a press mailer of all of their current eyeliner pencils, and I decided to re-photograph and swatch through (the majority I had swatched in 2013!!!)–though after I already used a few!–and I’m only got around to editing those photos recently (with the absence of 4,000 new eyeshadow palettes to review). I’ve been testing and writing down wear times for the last year or so! 😂
I really dislike the drug-themed names (Mainline, Loaded, Junkie, Stash). But there are some great shades here. I already have Stash and love it.
Oh, I just learned some new drug slang today! One great trend about Gen Z is that they are reportedly trying dangerous drugs much less than previous generations (except for tobacco). What with the opiod epidemic, you would think now is a good time to change up some of these names — not as edgy or cool as they may have seemed to some in the ’90s.
Glad to hear it, though I wish people would stop smoking and vaping. My favorite era for music, makeup, and clothes was the ’90s, but I never thought heroin was cool, and I really disliked the fact that there was a big ’90s fashion trend called “heroin chic.”
“edgy” names don’t really bother me but Urban Decay’s whole thing feels very dated and now just comes off as middle aged people trying too hard to seem “hip”. At time’s looking at their product names I honestly feel a bit embarrassed for them.
I agree with you 110%, Seraphine. What once seemed edgy and somewhat counterculture, now comes across as tone deaf in a world of severe opioid misuse and addiction, with a high death toll left in its wake.
Last year, a friend of mine was applying to work at an Urban Decay store. I made her a list of UD’s drug-inspired names when she had to get tested as part of the hiring process and I couldn’t stand the hypocrisy ?
So many great colors! I love Freak and Mainline. I wonder if Mainline is named after the Philadelphia Main Line.
Mainline was a word for shooting drugs into one’s vein. Being next to drug words like junkie, loaded, and stash, I’m assuming that’s what UD was thinking.
Wouldn’t it be nice? You can think of it that way, if you like. ‘Back Door’ in my mind is a wooden screen door that slaps shut, like in the 40s or 50s. Not sure I want to associate a l/s with a rectum.
I do the same with Back Door, kjh. Though I am happy to think of “Roach” in drug terms, because I really, really, really hate the insects. Knowing UD, Roach could refer to either.
Oh yeah – what a choice! Maybe they could just rename it something less negative – Fluffy Bunny would work for me (please don’t tell this oldster that “Fluffy Bunny” is the name for a deadly form of some drug or for some degrading sexual act carried out on women).
LOL!
At first I thought it was but after seeing all the other names it’s definitely drug slang. Oh well, I will amuse myself in thinking I have an eyeliner named after where I grew up.
Loaded is my current favorite eyeliner. A great alternative to black.
I have loved UD eyeliners for years. Your review hit many of my favorite colors. I haven’t used the lighter ones but I believe I should try.
These are all lovely and still of excellent quality. I love Stash, Loaded and Mildew the best. As I have a number of these shades as eyeshadows, I wouldn’t really use the pencils. It was of a time when UD generally produced fabulous colours as eyeshadows.
Loaded, Junkie, Invasion, oh my! A teal lovers heaven ?. Which is why I have so many similar teals by Sephora Contour Pencil line. Invasion is certainly unique to my collection. Perhaps Loaded is enough so?
And, I also love Mildew for a greener liner!
Nancy, how do you find the Sephora pencils? I absolutely LOVE them and also find the price very appealing. I just wish they hadn’t discontinued Diving in Malaysia and Snakeskin Dress.
Stash and Rockstar are pretty much necessary for my life, since I have hazel eyes. Junkie and Freak look like a lot of fun.
Junkie is one of my all-time favorite eyeliners. Just superb quality and such a beautiful shade of teal. I really need to get Mildew. I don’t know how I don’t own that yet.
I’ve always been tempted by Junkie, Mildew and Stash. I have dupes for all 3 (theoretically, since Sephora T Rex is a dupe for the latter 2. But looking at Mildew, I’m not sure it will look great on me (I’m finding that some green liners, like grey ones, make me look tired) but I absolutely want to get Stash when the stores re-open.
Invasion seems to have been discontinued. UD is notorious for launching products with a huge shade range and fanfare and quietly discontinuing them.
This is why you’re the best. Comprehensively reviewing a permanent line that you’ve held on to for years. Invasion is right up my alley, putting that on my list. I’ve never bought a UD liner.
I love that you love Junkie even though it’s a B student. I certainly have my own B or even C products that take finesse to apply but the result is worth the effort.
