Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches (Part 5 of 5)
Corrupt
Urban Decay Corrupt 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a deeper, smoky brown with neutral-to-cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had medium to semi-opaque coverage in a single stroke, which built up easily to full coverage with a second layer. When I applied in shorter, overlapping strokes (more comfortable for me than an actual single stroke motion) on my lower lash line, it was opaque from what I could see.
The texture was smooth, velvety, and lightly creamy without being overly wet or emollient, so it was easy to work with, smudged when I wanted it to, but it didn’t migrate into fine lines as it dried down. It wore well for nine and a half hours before thinning/fading.

Formula Overview
$22.00/0.04 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly, stay soft and super-creamy for blending" before it "dries to a long-lasting finish that won't budge" with "intense" coverage. I'm a long-time fan and user of the formula--almost a decade now--and they're still a go-to. I keep a handful of formulas at my fingertips, and I have all of the shades from this range in a cup within reach.
It isn't the longest-wearing formula I've come across, but I find that it balances longevity with creaminess in application and ease of removal at the end. They also wear away "kindly," so while the line might get thinner, it doesn't drag or bleed toward my under eye area. The formula has solid, long-wear at eight to 10 hours before fading, thinning, or having a bit of migration to the outer corner. The less shimmery shades tend to have the most visible movement, whereas the more shimmery shades tend to fade or thin.
The pigmentation varies a lot from shade to shade with more matte shades often having the most coverage in a single layer, followed by more metallic finishes. The more glittery the finish, the weaker the coverage and application were. Many of the shades in the range are buildable and apply with near-to or opaque coverage when applied in short, overlapping strokes. The majority are very comfortable to apply on the lower lash line or waterline.
They have a creamy, glide-on consistency as promised, and they can be smudged or blended out, so they are particularly useful for someone who likes a more diffused look for their eyeliner.
As someone who has had a lot of these eyeliners over time, I can attest to the fact that they do not dry out readily. Some of the shades I have that I don't use (because they're THAT old) are still creamy and glide-on when swatched.

Demolition
Urban Decay Demolition 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a muted, deep brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and more velvety (a touch drier) than most of the shades in the formula, but it didn’t tug or pull on my lash line during application.
It had good pigmentation in one layer, which built up well to full coverage with a second pass. It stayed on nicely for 10 hours before fading visibly.

Oil Slick
Urban Decay Oil Slick 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a soft black base with flecks of silver micro-glitter and pearl throughout. It seemed to flash almost bluish-teal at times to my eye. The texture was more emollient than most shades in the range, so it didn’t have as even of an application without being layered.
It had medium coverage in one pass, which I could build up to full coverage with a full second layer. I didn’t feel much of the glitter/sparkle during application, but it actually contains plastic (PET) glitter in it, so I would be cautious using it near the water line for those more concerned about glitter. It lasted decently for eight and a half hours before migrating slightly to the outer corners of my eyes. Uzi has a similar effect with finer shimmer, has more payoff, and doesn’t contain plastic glitter–a great substitute, IMO.

Smoke
Urban Decay Smoke 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a dark, slightly cool-toned gray with a matte finish. The pigmentation was weaker in a single layer–barely approaching medium coverage–but it was fairly buildable. It could have applied more evenly, and I think the more velvety, perhaps more silicone-heavy, formula made it more likely to push product around when layered than I’ve experienced with other shades.
As a thin line of product on the lash line, the unevenness was harder to see in person, which is the nature of reviewing eyeliners–small deficits in performance are obvious in macro photos but not always in person. It wore well for nine hours before fading/thinning noticeably.

Whiskey
Urban Decay Whiskey 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeliner had excellent pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied evenly to my lower lash line without dragging.
The consistency was smooth, velvety, and just emollient enough to glide easily over my skin but not to the point where it was prone to sinking into fine lines as it dried down. It lasted well for nine and a half hours before fading/thinning a bit.

Urban Decay Zero 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark black with a matte finish. It had good color coverage in a one layer, which was buildable to full coverage with less than a second layer–I normally apply in short, overlapping strokes as that’s most comfortable for me, and I had opaque coverage when I did that.
The texture was smooth, velvety, and not too emollient, so it didn’t feel wet as it went on, but I could soften and smudge out the line if I wanted to for the first 15 to 30 seconds. It stayed on well for nine and a half hours before fading/thinning visibly.

P.S. — These are not new! A couple of years ago, Urban Decay sent out a press mailer of all of their current eyeliner pencils, and I decided to re-photograph and swatch through (the majority I had swatched in 2013!!!)–though after I already used a few!–and I’m only got around to editing those photos recently (with the absence of 4,000 new eyeshadow palettes to review). I’ve been testing and writing down wear times for the last year or so! 😂
Wow, I never knew Oil Slick had glitter in it. I have had it for a long time, I never looked at the ingredients. I bought it before I knew about PET glitter. It has always felt rough to me putting it on my lower lash line. I guess lucky (or unlucky) me, nothing sticks to my waterline because it is too wet. I’d hate for that glitter to wash the wrong way into my eye. Thanks for the warning!
Corrupt is one of my favorite lower lashline liners of all time! It makes my eyes look bright and gives them a twinkle. Love it so much that I have a backup.
And now I also need to get Uzi. That one is just so gorgeous, and looks more like an oil slick than the one named as such, LOL!
I’m such a long-time user of UD eyeliners and have bought so many over the years, but I still love looking at swatches and discovering a new love for shades I thought I wasn’t that interested in. (Like Uzi, Mushroom).
General PSA regarding Perversion, which I know Christine has swatched and reviewed before, so it doesn’t appear in this recent roundup – I and others (I found their posts from googling) have experienced problems with contact lenses while wearing this shade. I only figured this out in the past month or so after a string of on-and-off problems I was previously attributing to allergies. I’m mentioning it here in case others have also had problems but haven’t found the connection yet, or are prospective lens-wearing buyers of Perversion. I don’t think all lens wearers have this problem (that would be a lot of people), but I certainly did.
So the gist of it is I would notice during the day that my lenses would “cloud over.” (Particularly my left one, but I’ve always had more trouble with my left eye.) I have worked for home for years so this was less of an inconvenience than if I was at a worksite. I would take my lens out and clean it, put it back in, and it would cloud up again later in the day. If I held my lens up to light, I could clearly see the cloudy area that looked like a blob of film coating, but it would appear to come off after cleaning. If it was about time to change to new lenses, I would put in brand new ones and still have cloudiness later on. Sometimes I would just give up, leave my contacts out, put my glasses on, and soak my contacts in the 6-hour Clean Care solution.
Because I wear different eye products on different days, I never really traced it back to any product in particular. It seemed to come and go, the way my allergies do. However, I made the connection back in March of this year. I had already done my makeup and taken my lens out multiple times to stubbornly clean it and pop it back in. By the third time, my lower lash eyeliner had mostly come off, but I didn’t fix it right away since I work from home. The third time I cleaned my lens and put it back in, no more problems for hours! Later I stepped out to run some errand (so this must have been pre-social distancing) and reapplied Perversion on my lower lashes. Very quickly after, my lens clouded up again! I thought, hmmmm, is Perversion the culprit?
I stopped wearing Perversion the past couple of months and have had zero problems with my lenses. I haven’t gone the extra step to test my hypothesis by finally wearing Perversion again to see if the problem spontaneously arises again, but based on my own experience, and other people posting on reddit, Sephora boards, etc. about the same thing, I’m positive it’s an ingredient in Perversion. Other than that, I’m using eye makeup the same way I was before with no issues – sheer wash of color over the lids, eyeshadow as heavy eyeliner on upper lids (since I have Asian eyelids) and lower lash liner with UD eyeliners. What’s funny is I had always thought that if my makeup was the problem, it was fallout from a product above my eye. But I only wear Perversion as a lower lash liner, and not on my waterline, so the product was somehow getting pulled/wicked up onto my lens.
I compared the ingredients of UD eyeliners I have no problems with vs. Perversion to find the differences. The only other two shades I’ve seen with the same different ingredients are Sabbath and Psychedelic Sister. I own those shades but haven’t used them yet. I segregated those and the 6 Perversion pencils I have from previous sets to make sure I don’t use them unless I’m wearing glasses all day or want to test them out. Ultimately, I will probably give them to friends.
I’m a little flabbergasted I didn’t figure this out earlier, but hindsight is 20/20. I had been using Zero as my lower lash liner when I wanted black. I only started wearing Perversion a couple of years ago, once I ran out of all of my Zero pencils. I remember a time when Zero was included with so many UD products, but now that I’ve used up my Zero stash and Perversion and I don’t get along, I actually purposely purchased one a Zero by itself. !!!
And that’s my G-rated story about Perversion …
I tend to favour Sephora’s pencil liners (I’ve found the “24/7” claim to be misleading in many of the UD liners I’ve tried) but I bought Corrupt a few months ago and really, really like it a LOT.
Corrupt is gorgeous shade of neutral brown. Beautiful.
Uzi is my absolute hands down favorite liner of all time. I have several back ups. Thanks for the review on the product line. There are several that have never made it home with me, but I need to try them.
Nancy, Uzi really is quite nice. I hope you like it.
Demolition used to be my favorite brown eyeliner, but somewhere along the way (years ago… maybe 8 or so) the formula changed and what the formula was changed to really irritated my contacts when I wore them in my waterline. I love how easily these 24/7 liners apply and there are great colors so I might have to just try them again! Maybe the formula has changed a bit again and they’ll work for me now.
I love you going through OG lines like this and giving a new rating. Formulas change, etc. Nice to have new, consistent ratings and info!
