Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches (Part 1 of 5)
Asphyxia
Urban Decay Asphyxia 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a brighter, medium purple base with strong, warm pink undertones and cooler, blue and violet iridescent shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with two to three layers.
The texture was smooth, comfortable to apply to the lower lash line as it did not tug, and had enough creaminess to be smudgeable but didn’t settle into fine lines as it dried down. It wore well for nine hours before fading noticeably on my lower lash line.

Formula Overview
$22.00/0.04 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly, stay soft and super-creamy for blending" before it "dries to a long-lasting finish that won't budge" with "intense" coverage. I'm a long-time fan and user of the formula--almost a decade now--and they're still a go-to. I keep a handful of formulas at my fingertips, and I have all of the shades from this range in a cup within reach.
It isn't the longest-wearing formula I've come across, but I find that it balances longevity with creaminess in application and ease of removal at the end. They also wear away "kindly," so while the line might get thinner, it doesn't drag or bleed toward my under eye area. The formula has solid, long-wear at eight to 10 hours before fading, thinning, or having a bit of migration to the outer corner. The less shimmery shades tend to have the most visible movement, whereas the more shimmery shades tend to fade or thin.
The pigmentation varies a lot from shade to shade with more matte shades often having the most coverage in a single layer, followed by more metallic finishes. The more glittery the finish, the weaker the coverage and application were. Many of the shades in the range are buildable and apply with near-to or opaque coverage when applied in short, overlapping strokes. The majority are very comfortable to apply on the lower lash line or waterline.
They have a creamy, glide-on consistency as promised, and they can be smudged or blended out, so they are particularly useful for someone who likes a more diffused look for their eyeliner.
As someone who has had a lot of these eyeliners over time, I can attest to the fact that they do not dry out readily. Some of the shades I have that I don't use (because they're THAT old) are still creamy and glide-on when swatched.

Cuff
Urban Decay Cuff 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a bright, lighter silver with a metallic finish and ultra-fine sparkle throughout. The base seemed almost translucent base packed full of shimmer and shine, so it was more semi-sheer to medium in a single stroke, though it built up to nearly opaque coverage with a second layer.
It had a very creamy, smooth, and velvety feel as it glided across my lash line. This shade stayed on nicely for nine hours before fading visibly on my lower lash line.

Delinquent
Urban Decay Delinquent 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a blackened plum base with flecks of lighter purple sparkle throughout. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy without being too wet (more velvety than wet), so it applied easily across my lower lash line and deposited nearly opaque coverage a single, fluid pass. It lasted well for 10 hours before having a bit of product built up in my outer corner.

Heartless
Urban Decay Heartless 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a pale pink with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff in one layer, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with two to three layers (or shorter, more overlapping strokes).
The consistency seemed slightly thinner and drier compared to other shades in the range, and it was harder to get the product to adhere to my waterline as a result, but it adhered decently to my lower lash line. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly along my lower lash line.

Urban Decay Vice 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium purple with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of violet and copper micro-sparkle throughout. It had a smooth consistency that glided easily across my lash line with a velvety quality to it, so it did not feel too wet as it went on.
I could smudge it out if I wanted to after the initial application, but it didn’t get into fine lines as it set. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer (or applied in shorter, overlapping strokes). This shade lasted well for nine hours before fading noticeably.

Urban Decay Yeyo 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a soft white with neutral-to-warm undertones and a metallic sheen.

P.S. — These are not new! A couple of years ago, Urban Decay sent out a press mailer of all of their current eyeliner pencils, and I decided to re-photograph and swatch through (the majority I had swatched in 2013!!!)–though after I already used a few!–and I’m only got around to editing those photos recently (with the absence of 4,000 new eyeshadow palettes to review). I’ve been testing and writing down wear times for the last year or so! 😂
I swatched a lot of these in store and wasn’t too impressed. Pretty, but not as glidey as their other liners if that makes sense. I do love Woodstock. I have a hot pink liner, but I love the purple sheen this one has so I’ll probably pick it up eventually!
I love Cuff! I bought it last year, I think. It works really nicely with ColourPop’s Smoke Show eye palette. I’ve noticed that it hasn’t been in stores for awhile. Is this a re-release with a new formula?
There’s a note at the end of the post that mentions specifically this is not a re-release – I’ve only just managed to get some time to edit photos I shot awhile ago when UD sent product samples of the liners!
Oops, so you did! Lol!! My bad. I didn’t see it at the end because I didn’t read about all of the shades.
Delinquent, Vice, Asphyxia…how do I NOT have these yet? What with me being such a huge purple freak? Those 3 just hit my WL with a big bang! ???
I could just see you rocking these purple shades. They are so ‘you’.
This is one of my absolute favorite eyeliner formulas! I am slowly accumulating a ton of them and have had my eye on woodstock for years now. That might just be the next one to join the family.
Woodstock is fun if you like your colorful liner!
The older I get, the more I am embracing vibrant colors. I just completely stopped caring that I was “supposed” to look “professional” and now just go with what I love. So the brighter, the better for me these days!
These are all lovely.
Most of them are on my wish list. Those purples! If I had to chose one, it’d be Vice. Cuff is really lovely as well.
I must go through my WL and update it, I have a feeling at least half of it is filled with LE’s and DC’s by now. Nice with permanent products.
Wow, Asphyxia is SO pretty!
I love UD eyeliners, they are one of the top eyeliners that I use. I have to see them in person though.
The only one of these that I’d actually have any use for is Delinquent and I have Sephora’s Tango Nights so don’t need it til I run out of that beauty, at which point I’d consider getting it (I don’t use it all that often).
My favorite is Uzi which is a deep gray with a dark pearl to it. I also love an old one…Stag. It’s deep brown, but I believe it’s been discontinued.
I have to say that UD has done a pretty good job on these – especially the purple shades. When I looked at the dupe list for some of these, the results from other brands was pretty poor.
Thank you Christine for reviewing so many of them at one time.
Thank you for all your work in reviewing these! I need a new brightening eyeliner for my waterline and ‘Heartless’ & ‘Yeyo’ look perfect for what I want; one for a more natural brightening effect and one for a more dramatic effect.
I would add ‘Cuff’ to that list but it’s packed full of Aluminum Powder, and even though it’s generally safe around the eyes you absolutely DO NOT want it on the waterline where it’s directly exposed to the mucous membrane of the eye. It’s a trip to the ophthalmologist waiting to happen (for me, anyway), but especially if you have a sensitivity to certain metals; plus it’s possible for aluminum powder to react with the water in the mucous membrane to produce hydrogen gas, which isn’t toxic but can cause further irritation. I say this from both research and first-hand experience. Stila had a silver liner I adored but it always made my eyes burn if it smudged into the corners and got onto my eye, but there was never a problem as long as I kept it on a lash line or the eyelid.
Don’t let my sensitivities keep anyone from trying ‘Cuff’, by the way! Everyone is different and not all people will have that kind of reaction with aluminum powder. If you’re worried about a reaction, I would recommend putting a very small swipe of product (like 2-3 mm long, a very small dash) on the outer corner of the waterline and wearing it for about an hour to see if you notice any irritation. That’s my method anyway and it’s been a pretty reliable way to gauge possible adverse reactions!
How do I not own Delinquent or Vice yet? I love UD’s eye pencils. I find that they last on my oily lids better than anything else. They are the only pencils that last on my upper waterline. UD Perversion is HG for me.
Perversion is what I use on the upper waterline, too. It’s the least irritating and the pencil itself is really soft so I can “blink” onto it as I cannot tolerate running a pencil across it, lol!
Asphyxia is my all time favorite pencil for my waterline. It never lets me down!
What color eyeshadows do you pair with it, Mags?
Mostly I pair it with neutral to cool browns & taupes (it’s my pop of color), but I’ve also enjoyed it with blues, pinks, golds & purples of course. I haven’t yet tried it with my matte lime green shadow from Sugarpill, but I’m rethinking that since it could be a fun spring/summer combo!
I long tossed my UD pencils, but Asphyxia was always one I thought was quite unique. I may have to grab it.
Asphyxia is great alone and layered over more opaque pencils.
These are my faves, esp as MJB is the Emperor’s New Eyeliner on me, bummer! The UD 24/7 bummer is that I think Mainline has been d/c’d! Really? Fabulous, classic color. Mine’s still good, do believe.
UD’s liners are not my favorite anymore, and haven’t been for a while. But somehow I continue picking up the holiday boxed sets to sit around and dry out. I always appreciate looking at swatches to try and talk myself out of getting more!
I love Delinquent, but can’t find it on any website to buy it. Do you know where I can buy it? Thanks!
It looks like they might have discontinued it! 🙁
Asphyxia is gorgeous, but I can’t find it anywhere. Did they discontinue it?
Did they? Oh no!!
Does anyone use these in their waterline? Does it hold up pretty well? I have pretty watery eyes lol
Some shades last In my waterline better than others. Usually there’s enough left closest to the lashes to appear as though my waterline is still lined. Despite the need to reapply if I want a more freshly applied look, I much prefer the UD liners to some of the others out there. Stila makes my eyes sting, as does MJ, which also flaked off during wear rather than dissolving away.
