Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Blackheart + Darkside 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil
Urban Decay Blackheart + Darkside 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil ($16.00 for 0.02 oz.) is described as a “smoky black matte with rosy red micro-glitter + purple-taupe satin.”
- Blackheart is a deep, dark purpled black with burgundy sparkle. It had so-so color payoff in a single stroke, but it is buildable to more opaque color in two to three layers. It wore well for eight hours on me with slight thinning apparent after nine hours. MAC Strong Willed (P, $20.00) is lighter. MAC Dark Diversion (LE, $16.00) has no sparkle.Bobbi Brown Black Plum (P, $24.00) is lighter, less sparkle.See comparison swatches.
- Darkside medium-dark plum with warm, brown tones and a satin shimmer. It was semi-sheer when applied in a single stroke, and it was buildable to mostly opaque color coverage with two to three layers. It wore well for eight hours and was slightly faded after that. MAC Strong Willed (P, $20.00) is purpler. MAC Raven (LE, $16.00) is similar. bareMinerals 6AM (LE, $15.00) is slightly more plum. See comparison swatches.
Crave + Venus 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil ($16.00 for 0.02 oz.) is described as a “deepest, darkest brown-black matte + soft, off-white shimmer.”
- Crave is a blackened brown with a cool undertone. It had decent color payoff in one go, and it was buildable to semi-opaque color in two to three layers. This shade was originally released in Ocho Loco 2, which I reviewed this past September. Urban Decay Demolition is similar. Estee Lauder Blackened Cocoa is more matte, darker. Make Up For Ever Gypsy is lighter, redder. Bobbi Brown Mahogany is similar. See comparison swatches.
- Venus is a pale, champagne beige with a metallic sheen. It had so-so pigmentation in one stroke, and it didn’t build up to opaque color even when I tried to layer it. It wore well for seven and a half hours but was noticeably thinner after eight hours of wear. Sephora Collection Blonde Ambition (P, $9.00) is similar. MAC Gilded White (LE, $16.00) is warmer, yellower. See comparison swatches.
Perversion + Pistol 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil ($16.00 for 0.02 oz.) is described as a “blackest-black matte + light gray-brown shimmer.”
- Perversion is a deep, dark black with a matte finish. It’s incredibly pigmented, very creamy, and wears eight to nine hours on me. This is part of the permanent range and has been reviewed previously. See comparison swatches.
- Pistol is a golden taupe with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had fairly good color payoff in a single stroke, and it was buildable in two layers to fully opaque color. It lasted eight hours on me before starting to show signs of fading. MAC Deliciously Rich (LE, $16.00) is warmer, more golden/brown. Urban Decay Mushroom (P, $19.00) is grayer. See comparison swatches.
Zero + Whiskey 24/7 Glide-On Double-Ended Eye Pencil ($16.00 for 0.02 oz.) is described as a “Zealous black cream + rich brown matte.”
- Zero is a medium-dark black with a matte finish. This is part of the permanent range. It has so-so color payoff in a single pass, but it is buildable to mostly opaque color. It wears eight hours on me without signs of fading. See comparison swatches.
- Whiskey is a medium-dark, reddish-brown with a mostly matte finish and warm, orange-red undertones. It’s part of the permanent range as well. It has decent color payoff and builds to opaque color in two layers. It wears just over eight hours on me. Laura Mercier Espresso (P, $24.00) is darker. NARS Via de Martelli (P, $24.00) is similar. Urban Decay Roach (P, $19.00) is shimmery. MAC Duck (P, $16.00) is darker. MAC Rich Ground (P, $16.00) is metallic. See comparison swatches.
Now, the one bummer is that currently, the Zero + Whiskey pencil on Urban Decay’s website (that’s been there for awhile) is $12, and these are listed as $16 in the press release–same amount of product.

I just want Venus and Blackheart.
I like the concept, but I’m really not a fan of UD’s 24/7 Glide-On eye pencils. I find them too greasy, with a staying power of zero (even with a primer). We’re talking full dissipation 1-2 hours in — not to mention that I somehow have been utterly unable to keep it from rubbing off on my eyelash curler. I’ve been using mine in “Corrupt” for the past two weeks simply because I haven’t had time to pick up my usual Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof.
I’m kind of surprised at how much I love Pistol as a liner, but considering I’m wearing the shadow as a line right now I shouldn’t be haha. I have to resist, I just bought ocho loco 2!
Do you know when these will be released on Sephora.com?
December
I am in love with Venus and Pistol! Too bad they didn’t come in a duo.
Just about to run out of Perversion, so I’ll be getting the Perversion-Pistol duo!
Tengo un lápiz doble de Kiko, el número 09 que es prácticamente igual que el primero de UD.
How does the Pistol pencil compare to the late, great Stray Dog liner?
Pistol is golden, less taupe!
I noticed a ‘P’ next to everyone of the these. Are they keeping these as permanent Naked products?
This is what Urban Decay said (posted in the information post about this launch), so I’m just copying and pasting: “It’s been so popular that we’re launching that original duo (Zero/Whiskey) as a regular part of our line AND adding three new color combos—one for each of our other Naked palettes.”
Despite my less than perfect experiences with these pencils, I really do want Perversion/Pistol – those look like my kind of colours!
Zero always looks so sad next to Perversion, lol.
I like the two shade convenience but these go so FAST,
they sharpen down to nothing quickly. Maybe good for
a travel weekend or something.
They’re only 0.01 oz. each, whereas a full-sized eyeliner is 0.04 oz.! 🙂
Put them in the freezer for a few minutes before you sharpen and it helps them last a lot longer.
Well since Sephora Collection Blonde Ambition has been on my list to get I think I will pick it up over venus.
Pretty certain I have close dupes, but still wanting both blackheart/darkside and crave/venus!!
I wish Venus was a wee bit more pigmented or at least more buildable, though. It’s nice for brightening color-wise!
I wish crave was available individually–I feel like it might be a perfect natural waterline color for my nearly-black hair and lashes. I might go for the Perversion/Pistol duo. Is it a December release date for urbandecay.com as well?
Late November for UD’s website – probably the same time as N3 but they haven’t given a specific date yet!
In spite of my horrible track record with these (I still have my original Whiskey/Zero from Naked 1!), I am very tempted to try Venus… It seems like it’d be a nice inner corner/tear duct pencil.
OMG, these pencils look absolutely awesome! I just bought the Zero/Whiskey duo two days ago, and I’m in love with this formula! I would definitely like to get my hands on Crave/Venus & Perversion/Pistol, but it sucks that these are now being sold for $16 versus $12. The original duo was such a good deal! I’ve been spoiled by the original price, and now I’m torn about purchasing these because I don’t want to pay more. =/
Yeah, it is a significant increase unfortunately! 🙁
I am really waiting for blackheart! Love the sparkles in it 🙂
I really like Perversion / Pistol, but it’s definitely not worth $16 to me since I already own Perversion. Too bad!
I want Blackheart as an individual pencil, beccause I don’t do glittery ones anymore (grr ether). And I might grab the pistol and perversion one, pistol looks nice and who doesn’t need more perversion.
I really love this concept, because I don’t have to commit to having one eye pencil for that long. I love change!
Blackheart sooo took my heart 🙂
Crave + Venus is definitely my favorite.
I could see myself getting the one that coordinates with Naked 3, because I could also see myself getting Naked 3, but the other ones (like their corresponding palettes) are kinda meh to me. It would be adorable if there were a tinier, matte duo for the tinier, matte Naked Basics though, wouldn’t it?!
It looks like the Double-ended Eye Pencils will have a different link than the current link for the Whiskey-Zero Double-ended Eye Pencils. The new link is up but the page is currently not available just as the link to NAKED3 and the Black Friday deal are up but also not available.
Really loving Venus!
