Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches (Part 4 of 5)
Bourbon
Urban Decay Bourbon 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with moderate,w arm undertones and flecks of gold shimmer throughout. It had good pigmentation in a single layer, and when applied in shorter, more overlapping motions (rather than a literal, fluid stroke), it seemed to be opaque. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, and comfortable to use along the lower lash line as it didn’t tug or pull. It wore well for 10 hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
$22.00/0.04 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly, stay soft and super-creamy for blending" before it "dries to a long-lasting finish that won't budge" with "intense" coverage. I'm a long-time fan and user of the formula--almost a decade now--and they're still a go-to. I keep a handful of formulas at my fingertips, and I have all of the shades from this range in a cup within reach.
It isn't the longest-wearing formula I've come across, but I find that it balances longevity with creaminess in application and ease of removal at the end. They also wear away "kindly," so while the line might get thinner, it doesn't drag or bleed toward my under eye area. The formula has solid, long-wear at eight to 10 hours before fading, thinning, or having a bit of migration to the outer corner. The less shimmery shades tend to have the most visible movement, whereas the more shimmery shades tend to fade or thin.
The pigmentation varies a lot from shade to shade with more matte shades often having the most coverage in a single layer, followed by more metallic finishes. The more glittery the finish, the weaker the coverage and application were. Many of the shades in the range are buildable and apply with near-to or opaque coverage when applied in short, overlapping strokes. The majority are very comfortable to apply on the lower lash line or waterline.
They have a creamy, glide-on consistency as promised, and they can be smudged or blended out, so they are particularly useful for someone who likes a more diffused look for their eyeliner.
As someone who has had a lot of these eyeliners over time, I can attest to the fact that they do not dry out readily. Some of the shades I have that I don't use (because they're THAT old) are still creamy and glide-on when swatched.

Goldmine
Urban Decay Goldmine 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a light-medium gold with moderate, warm undertones and a soft, metallic finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to mostly opaque coverage–if one wore a thin line, it was hard to tell it wasn’t fully pigmented.
The texture seemed slightly drier and more silicone-heavy, so while it glided readily across my lash line, it didn’t deposit color as intensely nor as evenly as other shades in the range have. It lasted well for nine hours before thinning noticeably on me.

Hustle
Urban Decay Hustle 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a muted, dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had very subtle, finer shimmer running through it, so it wasn’t matte but wasn’t as metallic as other shades typically are in the range. It had good pigmentation in a single pass, which built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer more.
The texture was smooth, velvety, and comfortable to work with on my lower lash line as it didn’t tug or pull. It didn’t feel overly slippery, so it didn’t settle into fine lines as it set. It stayed on nicely for nine and a half hours before fading visibly.

Mushroom
Urban Decay Mushroom 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, taupe-brown base with cooler, silvery-taupe shimmer over top. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which adhered evenly and smoothly across my lash line without dragging or pulling on it during application. The texture was smooth, velvety, and creamy enough to be easy to use but still deposit even coverage. It wore well for nine and a half hours before thinning slightly.

Roach
Urban Decay Roach 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with moderate, warm undertones and flecks of copper micro-shimmer and shimmer thorughout. It had medium to semi-opaque coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. I found shorter, overlapping strokes worked just fine for getting full coverage with minimal effort, though.
The pencil had a smooth, velvety texture that glided easily across my lower lash line without tugging or dragging on it. There were signs of fading present after nine hours of wear.

Urban Decay Scorch 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Eyeliner) ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a deep, bronzy gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It was richly pigmented in a single pass with color that adhered evenly to my lash line and just skated across it. The consistency was creamy and smooth with more slip than other shades, but it didn’t seem wet and wasn’t prone to getting into fine lines as it set.

Underground
DCDiscontinued. $22.00.
P.S. — These are not new! A couple of years ago, Urban Decay sent out a press mailer of all of their current eyeliner pencils, and I decided to re-photograph and swatch through (the majority I had swatched in 2013!!!)–though after I already used a few!–and I’m only got around to editing those photos recently (with the absence of 4,000 new eyeshadow palettes to review). I’ve been testing and writing down wear times for the last year or so! 😂
Wait—did Underground get re-released?!! I was so sad when they discontinued it. Nothing seems like an exact dupe…mushroom is nice but different…too dark and silver-y leaning. I’ll have to try the zoeva one!
I can’t believe they discontinued it! I didn’t know that. So sorry!
Oh no! That was a shade I had my eye on! Ok, then…money saved.
Agreed! It’s my favorite eyeliner of all time. I’ve been using it regularly, but dreading the day it’s done.
It’s a terrific color! I got Underground and Hustle around the same time a few years ago (when Ulta still carried those shades) and love both!
Mushroom is my all-time favorite eyeliner! If this ever gets discontinued, I’ll cry. I’m halfway done with the one I currently have. Maybe I should consider getting a backup next time there’s a sale going on.
I really doubt it’d be discontinued, but there’s always ‘cloudy, with a chance of reformulation.’ With a few of the dupes, one of my ATFs is Zoeva Nude Reflection. And verdammt Zoeva discontinued all colored liners. If you’re below 1/2, wait for a sale and use Ultabucks, if possible. I could never be without the mushroom family.
You’re absolutely right, kjh. I’ll probably have a $10 Macy’s reward pretty soon, so I’ll use that to get another Mushroom. The other similar shade I’m considering trying is Fenty Moon Dunez.
I almost bought Mushroom during the recent BOGO sale, but I couldn’t make up my mind for the 2nd choice and before I knew it, the sale was over. I won’t let that happen again 😉 Glad to know it’s your all time favorite, I find we often have similar tastes!
How is it that Bourbon escaped my notice all these years? It is simply beautiful!
I’m also loving Scorch and Smog for golden hued liners to pair with Naked Honey!
I nearly bought Bourbon a few months ago (in those days when we could shop “in store”) as I knew it was very popular and a favourite of a youtuber whose looks I liked. But then I looked at it in-store next to Corrupt and ended up getting Corrupt instead as I like it a lot more. It’s also described as “warm” but on me, it’s cool and suits me better.
Oh my these are beautiful sheades
Gorgeous shades from their Naked palette lines from long ago. I am loving Scorch, Smog, Underground and my all time favourite taupe Mushroom.
I love UD eyeliners and MJ Hiliners. Some time ago I bought the UD Vault but dont remember the year. Most, if not all of these colors were in it. Prior to that, I hadn’t used eyeliners often. Your review explains my frustration with Goldmine. I thought it was me. I agree with your evaluation of the other colors. Just loved them. Never really learned to use the lighter colors.
Whenever I see Goldmine, I wish it were Honey instead lol
Roach is my all-time favorite brown eyeliner. Mushroom is one of those classics that I have no idea why I don’t own it yet.
