Eyeshadows to Celebrate the Holiday Season

I love a good theme as I find them most inspiring to highlight some lovely products that I’ve reviewed, both past and present, that are still readily available–which might also remind you of some old favorites in your stash! For the holidays, I always think about silver and blue, silver and gold, and red and green, so I’ve shared some of my favorite eyeshadows across these colors: emerald, gold, red, silver/gray, and blue!

I’d love to hear about your favorite(s):

  • Favorite emerald eyeshadow?
  • Favorite gold eyeshadow?
  • Favorite red eyeshadow?
  • Favorite silver/gray eyeshadow?
  • Favorite blue eyeshadow?

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Seeing all those luscious shades from Colour Pop, Coloured Raine and Sydney Grace makes me wish so much that I could get my hands on them in person!

I’m going to give answering these questions a try but oh, it’s so difficult.

Favourite emerald shadow: MAC Humid, Urban Decay Damaged and Urban Decay Dragon
Favourite gold shadow: I’m with you, Christine, about Tarte Martini and ABH Metal and I’ll add Marc Jacobs Brav-O, UD Strike, Pat McGrath Gilt Trip and MAC Goldbit
Favourite red – alas, I don’t have one. So many of those you’ve shown are really gorgeous but I find red shadows, even really beautiful ones, simply don’t look good on me. The closest I have to red is a shade from Smashbox’s Smoky 8-pan and a burgundy tinged brown from Dior’s Feel 5-pan.
Favourite silver/grey: MAC Typographic, Urban Decay Drift (what a bliss-inducing shade), MAC Smoke & Diamonds (mine is still going strong) and Tarina Tarantino Silver Shoes
Favourite blue: MAC Birds & Berries, UD Plunge, Evidence and Deep End, Nars Giove

Hey, friend – around here, there’s no such thing as self-incriminating; rather, there’s the comforting feeling of knowing we’re in good company (or enabling, perhaps). In any case, no self-incrimination involved at all!

Favorite emerald eyeshadow?
UD Damaged CT’s The Rebel and L’Oreal’s Golden Emerald are three in my stash that I regularly use. I love the Sydney Grace shades too.

Favorite gold eyeshadow?
I love the combination of green and gold. I lean more towards Antique Golds rather than bright golds.
My favourites are:
City Color Cleo
UD Half Baked
A beautiful white gold in Lancome’s Jade Fever palette
Gilded and Amber in Lorac’s Pro Metal palette
Strike in UD’s Vice 2
Chestnut Glimmer in Pixi Beauty Reflex Light
Steampunk in ABH Sultry

Favorite red eyeshadow?
No red eyeshadows for me, apart from a rhasberry shade in Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar palette.

Favorite silver/gray eyeshadow?
I used to be a mad fan of silvery grey eyeshadows, but not so much now that I have other colours that I prefer more.
Silver: A soft silvery blue from Guerlain’s Les Gris palette is a definite favourite for when I am wearing blues and the silver shade in Guerlain’s Les Aquas as well.
Grey shades: I do love a good grey/taupe and for that I love Ambush and Derailed from UD’s Vice 2,
And they multitude of grey shades in Sephora’s It Palette of cool toned neutrals.
Les Gris from Guerlain has a lovely grey shade as well.

Favorite blue eyeshadow?
I love a darker, deeper blue eyeshadow when I wear it.
My favourites are:
Lorac Cobalt from Lorac Pro Metals
Blue/Teal shades from Les Gris and Les Aquas
Mysterious Sky from bareMinerals Soft and Smokey
A slightly lighter blue favourite is Madness from UD’s Vice 2
