One of a Kind

ColourPop One of a Kind Pressed Powder Eye Duo ($10.00 for 0.10 oz.) contains a rich berry and a shimmering, cranberry red. They worked well together, but the look was very dark and red-toned, which won’t work for everyone. Of all of the new duos, this one seemed like the one would be most versatile paired with other shades rather than used as a standalone duo. This duo is limited edition and part of the brand’s Valentine’s Day collection, but ColourPop is releasing them as singles today.

Going Steady

Going Steady is a bold, dark berry with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had good color coverage, which was buildable to opaque coverage with two layers. The consistency was drier, a little stiffer in the pan, and I found it harder to diffuse the edges. With enough maneuvering and layering, I was able to successfully blend it out in the crease, but it took quite a bit of work. It wore well for eight hours before fading on me.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Pinky Promise

Pinky Promise is a rich, cranberry red with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. The pigmentation was fantastic; opaque and true-to-pan in color. It had a smooth, denser texture that felt like a cream, even though it blended and applied like a powder eyesahdow. The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight hours on me.

I was running on too little sleep and accidentally ordered these shadows twice, once as duo and again as singles about a week later! At least Pinky Promise scored well, hoping Going Steady won’t be as difficult to blend for me, but we’ll see. I love bold reds/berry shades on my lids (they make my brown eyes and dark hair pop), but might have to add in a light pink too, so I don’t like I’m starring in some gothic horror movie.

We try to approve comments within 24 hours (and reply to them within 72 hours) but can sometimes get behind and appreciate your patience! 🙂 If you have general feedback, product review requests, off-topic questions, or need technical support, please contact us directly. Thank you for your patience!
