Semi Precious

ColourPop Semi Precious 8-Pan Shadow Palette ($26.00 for 0.56 oz.) contains eight, metallic eyeshadows housed in a cardboard palette. They’re larger than the typical ColourPop eyeshadow, and they felt slightly creamier and smoother with moderate density but were never heavy or too thick. Only one of the eight shades could have been better, but even that, it was still a good eyeshadow. As long as you’re someone who adores shimmers or doesn’t mind pulling in other finishes to complement this palette, it’s well worth considering.

Celestial

Celestial is a medium, rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color payoff in a single layer with a smooth, creamy-like texture that was easy to apply to bare skin and blended out effortlessly. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours.

FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Easy Go

Easy Go is a medium-dark red with warm undertones a pearly sheen. It had excellent color payoff in a single layer, though it did not appear quite as metallic as other shades unless I used a dampened brush to apply it. The eyeshadow felt smooth in the pan and blended with ease. It lasted for eight hours on me.

Up and Atom is a muted, medium-dark coppery brown with warm, red undertones and a pearly sheen. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable with a slightly denser feel but did not feel thick or was difficult to pickup with a brush. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours on me.

West Star

West Star is a dark, reddened-brown with warmer undertones and a frosted finish. The pigmentation was fantastic and yielded opaque coverage in a single pass. The eyeshadow felt soft, blendable, and smooth without being too dense or too firmly pressed in the pan. I noticed fading on the lid after eight and a half hours of wear.

Bashful

Bashful is a dirty, medium pewter with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was slightly drier and did not apply as evenly to bare skin as I expected. It had good pigmentation that was buildable, but it was best applied with a dampened brush for maximum coverage and intensity. It wore well for eight hours on me.

The Game

The Game is a muted, medium gold with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was a “cooler” gold, though I don’t think I’d go as far as to say it was actually cool-toned. It was richly pigmented and had a smooth, cream–like texture that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly.

I just got this one and a bunch of other palettes in the mail and of course after just placing that order they released the All I See Is Magic palette… And I want that one too, le sigh. As an international buyer I really can’t keep up with their releases (because of shipping and/or customs charges) . But I’m glad this one got an A! I haven’t used it yet but it looks gorgeous!

Lori Avatar

I am a HUGE Colourpop fan in general and this is the only palette I haven’t ordered yet, have been on the fence. This review definitely convinced me to get it!

Helene Avatar

I’m so glad this palette got good grades as I have it waiting for me to pick it up at the post office. I rarely order anything these days without checking here first, but I fell for this little palette and just had to have it.

kjh Avatar

Super palette. Surprised by the dupes in Paris Nudes. You don’t see that coming, when you look at the entire palette. Got it duped, among tPN, UD, and Lorac. I used to write up palettes by dupes I have. That was a goof to quit, bec it led to more UTD looks than I might think of myself. Great look, as usual, though idk how you have time! You are cranking wonderfully in 17.

CeeBee Avatar

I ordered this on a whim when I got GSoM in their 20% sale and I LUUUUURVE it so much more than I thought I would.

It is really, really great. Love the formula of these shades, so much better then the glittery chunky sparkly shadows.

I used the shimmery light blue with a matte violet blended in from the outer corner, popped on some navy eyeliner and kapow! Gorgeous. And I never wear blue eyeshadow.

Christine Avatar

The formula used in it was quite nice — just balanced between dense and creamy and pigmented, IMO. Sometimes brands have been making their shimmer formulas TOO dense to apply well with a brush, and I think it is better to offer versatility in application.

Alecto Avatar

Nice set. I think i have a dupe for everything except Beam Me Up, so not interested.

As an aside, is anyone else getting thoroughly tired of gold? GOLD. Gold, gold, and more gold!!! I’m already ready for the holiday season to be done with so I can hopefully not look at gold again for a very long time.

Wawi Avatar

HI Christine thanks for the beautiful review, I adore the Colourpop palettes, what’s you favorite? And btw how about tarte Cosmetics tartlette palettes?are they worth it? I will read your review soon, heading to an education now!!lol I’m a fan since 2014, didn’t you know you where famous in the Philippines back then?have a good day!!xoxo
