Date Night

Coloured Raine Date Night Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a dark plum with warm, brown undertones and a pearly sheen. It had rich, opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edges. The texture was smooth, not too firm or too soft in the pan, but didn’t feel as dense or as cream-like as some of the brand’s other eyeshadows (not a bad thing, just something I noticed). This shade started to fade on me after eight and a half hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$6.99/0.064 oz. - $109.22 Per Ounce

2022 Formula: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" and "blendable" with a "butterly smooth" feel. The majority of the matte eyeshadows were quite pigmented, while some of the shimmers were overly emollient, which resulted in sheerer and/or uneven coverage.

The matte eyeshadows have a bit of dryness to them, though they were pigmented and fairly blendable, but they tended to apply best over an eyeshadow primer, which ensured a better base for them to adhere to. The shimmer eyeshadows were best applied with fingertips or a flat, firm (and sometimes dampened) brush and pressed/patted into place, then lightly blended.

I did not love the two finishes paired together as the matte finish was thinner and more powdery compared to the thicker, denser shimmers, so the shimmers often "erased" the matte eyeshadows when blended out.

The formula was different than the brand's original single pan formula that they originally debuted with, and I preferred their original formula overall, though the new one is decent, just not as foolproof to work with.

Original formula review: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented, long-lasting, and blendable" and come in a variety of finishes. Most their eyeshadows are semi-opaque to opaque with a smooth, blendable textures that are easy to use and apply well to bare skin. The shimmers are slightly dense and creamier to the touch compared to the mattes, which aren't thin but don't have the same amount of slip. They tend to wear between eight and nine hours on me.

Passion

Coloured Raine Passion Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark red with warm, copper undertones and a metallic sheen. It was incredibly pigmented–the kind of pigmentation where the barest touch of the brush yields fully opaque coverage in a single stroke. The texture was smooth, creamy, and blendable, and the eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin and adhered for nine hours before starting to crease faintly.

I really like both, but I’ll probably end up choosing Date Night because I’m pretty sure I have a dupe for Passion. Or at least something similar enough that I can pick up Passion later on.

These two are beautiful! They went directly to the wishlist. I think I must edit that poor list some day soon. I am sort of waiting for that hyped palette that’s coming back in the fall. It’s late here and I have forgotten what it was called, but you all know.
So, maybe I should wait with Passion as Noblewoman is a dupe and get Date Night. so hard to decide. I think I’ll just sleep on it and come morning I’ll probably have forgotten all about these as something else grabs my attention.
Anyway, the eyeshadows are gorgeous. It seems like CR are really good at making interesting colours and with good quality.
