Tarte Tarteist PRO Remix PRO Palette Review & Swatches
Tarteist PRO Remix
Tarte Tarteist PRO Remix PRO Palette ($53.00 for 0.70 oz.) is for those who love metallics–it’s full of shimmer and color with three matte shades and the rest pretty much chocked full of shimmer. I’d consider it more of a complementary palette than a typical standalone palette (but that really depends on your need for mattes in a look). I loved all three looks that I created using just this palette alone, but they are shimmer-heavy, which I know is not everyone’s cup of tea. There are two matte shades–Wall Art and Mixed Media–that I don’t feel are necessary in such a shimmer/color heavy palette; the inclusion of a matte black worked particularly well to deepen other shades and really enhanced the color scheme. The inclusion of the other two mattes, though, seemed to take up space that could have gone to other pops of color, like a coral, mid-tone purple, or mid-tone, warmer green. The formula used in the shimmers reminded me a lot of the Tarteist Metallic line (but the shimmers in this palette are softer). Also, the palette smelled like vanilla for those who are more sensitive to scents.

Spin
Spin is a medium-dark, rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented with a creamy, smooth consistency that was blendable and easy to work with. The eyeshadow wore nicely for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

Inspiration
Inspiration is a soft peach with warm, orange undertones and a bright, metallic shine. It had rich color coverage with an almost blinding shine, and I felt like a little went a long way. If the shine ends up being a bit too much, try taking the matte beige in the palette and sweeping it over. The eyeshadow had a smooth, creamy consistency that went on beautifully and blended out easily. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

Art Deco
Art Deco is a soft, light-medium blue with cooler undertones but warmer, greenish-gold shimmer that gave it a frosted finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, more loosely-pressed consistency that was blendable and easy to work with but had a smidgen of fallout. This shade stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Artist
Artist is a dark, navy blue with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic finish. The color payoff was fantastic with rich, smooth application that adhered well to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges but never lost its intensity. The consistency was soft, lightly creamy, and sat well on my lid without emphasizing my lid texture or lines. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing very faintly on me.

Color Explosion
Color Explosion is a medium-dark emerald green with very subtle, warm undertones and cooler green shimmer. It appeared to almost straddle cool/warm to my eye–it went warmer/cooler depending on what I paired it with. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer. The texture was smooth, creamy, and a bit denser compared to most shades in the palette, but it didn’t cross into the territory where it was too thick or stiff to work with using brushes. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before creasing a touch.

DIY
DIY is a medium, olive green with warm undertones and a sparkling, frosted finish. The consistency was soft, slightly dusty in the pan, so there was a bit of fallout if I wasn’t careful to pat it onto my lid, but it was extremely blendable and sat particularly well on my lid as it seemed to “melt” slightly and give that shiny, metallic finish that doesn’t emphasize lid texture. It had opaque color coverage that lasted well for eight hours on me.

Ink
Ink is a medium-dark black with neutral-to-cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. There was a smidgen of micro-shimmer strewn throughout, but it did not appear visible to my eye in person. The eyeshadow had a soft, slightly dusty consistency that needed to be applied with a lighter hand to avoid some fallout. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Beat Drop
Beat Drop is a soft black with lots of larger, chunkier sparkle and micro-glitter. The consistency was soft, almost powdery, which made it more prone to fallout. I thought it was harder to work with as a result as a lot of the sparkle/shimmer didn’t pop as much on my lid unless I used it with a dampened brush or a tacky base. The underlying color lasted for seven and a half hours before fading more noticeably but had moderate fallout over time.

Graphic
Graphic is a blackened purple with a blacker, deeper base and lighter violet, bluish-violet, and red sparkle. The pigmentation was fantastic with rich payoff achieved in a single layer–a little went a long way–and what I appreciated was that the shimmer/sparkle seemed to bind and mesh with the underlying base so that they actually translated on my lid/skin when applied. The consistency was soft, a smidgen dusty in the pan but blendable and didn’t yield fallout when I worked with it. This shade stayed on well for eight hours on me.

Graffiti
Graffiti is a medium-dark red with warmer undertones and a frosted sheen. The color payoff was opaque in a single layer, while the eyeshadow had a soft, smooth consistency that was lightly creamy and a bit dense but not thick or stiff to work with. It wore well for eight hours on bare lids before fading a touch.

Moonlit
Moonlit is a light gold with strong, warm yellow undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was soft, blendable, and easy to work with on the lid, but it was more softly pressed in the pan and had a touch of fallout if I didn’t press/pat it on initially. It had excellent pigmentation that lasted well for eight hours on me.

Mashup
Mashup is a light-medium purple with warmer, pink undertones and cooler, bluish-violet pearl. It had more of a satin-to-pearl finish, which made it one of the least shimmery shades in the palette. The texture was soft, thinner, and had more slip, which made it feel creamier to the touch but I did not find it applied as well to my lid as it did not build up much. This shade stayed on for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Sway
Sway is a medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely along the edges. The consistency felt smooth to the touch with a bit of creaminess and good denseness but never felt thick or heavy on my lid. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a touch.

Create
Create is a soft, light-medium plummy base with warmer, rosy undertones and cooler, blue-to-green shifting sparkle. It applied significantly lighter than it appeared in the pan as the base seemed to be rather strong and the shimmer more subdued, so the duochrome shift was less noticeable. The texture was soft, blendable, and easy to work with, though it was a touch soft in the pan. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me.

I didn’t really want this palette at all until – UNTIL – I saw the eye look you did with it, Christine. Now I’ve done a 180 degree flip! I’m not mad about Mashup but almost all the other shades are so compelling. The only chance I have of curbing my makeup purchasing is to stop coming here, but that’s not going to happen.
Christine, will this palette be available at Sephora? I checked your “where to buy” link and it says “Sephora” but I’m not sure if that’s just a general list of retailers and e-tailers. I checked Sephora’s site and didn’t see it listed there. Is it for spring or do you know when and where it will launch?
Tarte said “stay tuned” or something like that on Instagram when people asked but haven’t provided any detail to me re: outside of their site.
Okay, so there’s hope that it will be available here. Thanks, Christine – I wasn’t sure if I’d missed the information or misunderstood it somehow.
It’s at Sephora today. 12/10/18
I was at Sephora today (to spend that $25 coupon) and they didn’t have it in-store and I just looked and it isn’t online either but then I’m in Canada so it might be slower to arrive.
….and, of course, now that I’ve BEEN to Sephora and spent my coupon (on some great stuff I have been wanting – skincare stuff not available elsewhere), NOW it is showing on their site and showing as “available” at my local Sephora. Off I’ll go again today to get it….
GOT IT!!!! No wonder I didn’t see it in-store yesterday. It’s not in the Tarte display but rather in this free-standing small but tall set of shelving that looks like a cheap (and wobbly) curio self – and it was at the very bottom (floor level). On Sephora’s site, it’s not shown with the “new” products, nor is it show at the beginning of the “eye shadow palettes” page….it’s the very LAST thing listed there and I didn’t even scroll down that far, since they usually put the new stuff at the top. It’s almost like they actually DON’T WANT people to purchase this by putting it so out of the way both in store and online!
Aw, thanks, Mariella! I wouldn’t be surprised if you had some dupes, though!
Hahaha – I checked and I do have dupes for quite a few of the shades but there are also a few I really like and for which I’ve got nothing in the dupe department!
Ditto, saw it on their site and thought it was unique for them (at least to me, as I see Tarte and mattes and drab). And then this!
Jane, I have a few of their metallic singles and they are FABULOUS!
Really lovely palette from Tarte and the formula is nice. I love each of the looks you created with the palette. I am still boycotting Tarte so won’t be picking this up but happy it is nice for those who have been waiting for it.
Thank you, Deborah!
They have some unique duochromes in their past palettes. Unfortunately they haven’t realized adding more duochromes could set them apart from a typical neutral leaning brand. Hopefully this palette will steer the brand in the more promising direction. My petty reason to tmo of this one: I don’t like the packaging.
Here’s hoping!
I feel like the only person that loves the packaging, it’s so 80s. I love it for that reason the most!
Wow – this is a stunning effort from Tarte – one of their first bigger forays into colourful eyeshadows and it is a hit with me. Love most of the shades (two blacks?) – anyway, I think the colour scheme is fabulous and the ratings equally as good – beautiful eye looks Christine.
I’m happy to see them doing some color!
This is a really easy pass for me. I only really like graphic, mashup and sway and I’ve got dupes for all of those. But the thing that really turns me off about this are all the different color splashes decorating the actual palette itself. My ADD doesn’t allow me to even look at the shadow colors themselves and think about how I might put a look together. All I see is pandemonium.
Same, same, and same, sister!
Wow! I wasn’t expecting that rating at all! Love the looks you create, the purple lipstick with it is perfect!
NIIIICE! Tarte finally went and did did a super high quality palette that also happens to be colorful, for a huge change. If I had room around here, I would be all over this! ?
The eye looks you did with this have me swooning. Especially the purple and green one! It’s so beautiful.
I’m very happy to see Tarte doing color again, and so pleased they did it well. I hope that becomes a trend. Maybe they are starting to listen to their customers.
I like this palette quite a lot, especially considering it’s from Tarte. I like the packaging, the shades, that it works well with some of their other, more basic palettes (like the all matte one – which I love and is a travel staple), and, yes, even the smell. I love the smell of Tarte palettes.
This is a really strong grade for a Tarte palette! I’ll have to swatch it in person.
Ooooh, this is gorgeous! I’m a big fan of Tarte’s formula but haven’t been super interested in their releases for a while. The jewel toned color scheme reminds me of Urban Decay’s Vice palettes, but these look much nicer in quality. I do wish they’d ditch the fakey vanilla scent though, yuck! Really didn’t like that in the Make Believe In Yourself palette. What’s the point?
Surprised by the quality — nice job Tarte!
