YSL Corail Dolman, Nude Avant-Garde, Rouge Caftan Rouge Voluptes Reviews & Swatches
Corail Dolman (12)
YSL Corail Dolman (12) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had medium coverage, which was as described, that built up slightly to more semi-opaque coverage.
The texture was creamy, smooth, and balm-like, so it was a more slippery formula to wear but very comfortable and easy to re-apply without a mirror. This particular shade wasn’t as smoothing or as forgiving of lip texture compared to others in the formula, though. It stayed on well for four hours and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.11 oz. - $345.45 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "deeply hydrating" and "melt" onto the lips with a "pop of color" and give long-term hydration. It is described as having "medium coverage" and "irreverent shine." The color coverage was typically medium, as described, though some of the deeper shades were more buildable to semi-opaque coverage.
They're a very, very creamy, emollient formula; they slip-slide as they melt against the lips during application, and it feels luxurious to apply but can be easily over-applied. It's just the type of texture that lends itself to over-application without adding more coverage, so I recommend being mindful in order to ensure you'll get plenty of usage out of each tube. Fortunately, once on, they don't feel thick or overly slippery, so it doesn't feel like the lipstick is constantly moving while worn.
They have a high-shine, almost glossy, finish that often smoothed out my lip lines without settling into them, and the latter made it more impressive due to the amount of color and slip. The wear time varied from shade to shade but typically landed between three and five hours. Some shades leave a faint stain behind--usually the mid-tone and darker hues. The formula has a sweet, mango scent but no discernible taste.

LELimited Edition. $38.00.
Nude Avant-Garde (91)
YSL Nude Avant-Garde (91) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a soft, muted coral with moderate, warm undertones and a lightly glossy sheen. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy, and more of a balm-lipstick hybrid as it felt quite slippery as it went on but was lighter-weight and didn’t slide around as much as a true balm might.
It had slightly higher than true medium coverage that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips. There wasn’t any noticeable color settled into my lip lines in person, though there seemed to be the smallest amount visible in the close-up photos. It wore nicely for three and a half hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

Nude Avant-Garde (91)
LELimited Edition. $38.00.
Rouge Caftan (92)
YSL Rouge Caftan (92) Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick ($38.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, deeper red with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had semi-sheer to medium coverage that wasn’t too buildable beyond medium, but medium coverage was how the formula was marketed.
The texture was lightweight, thin without being clingy, and emollient with moderate slip–a true lipstick/lip balm hybrid–that was comfortable to apply in a single, fluid stroke. For as emollient as it was, I was surprised it didn’t emphasize my lip lines, but it could have applied more evenly along the outer edges of my lips. It lasted well for four hours and was hydrating over time.

Thankfully, for once my wallet is safe! it’s not that I don’t like these, it’s just that none of them move me to want to buy them. The only one I put a heart next to was Nude Avant-garde. And even that one just isn’t enough *something* for me.
They’re all really beautiful, but there’s nothing I need, thank goodness!
I like Rouge Caftan a lot. I have two of the dupes but something about that shade is really calling to me. I love YSL lippies in general and a nice hybrid is so easy to wear. I am adding it to my list for my next purchase. Love it!!
Rouge Caftan is lovely but I’ve got me my Mia and Hourglass Visionary. But I have to say that I regret missing out on MAC Fire Roasted. I don’t think I ever even saw it or was aware of it when it was available. And A+ rating, roughly half the price of this YSL lipstick and just gorgeous to boot!
I bought #12 at the airport in March! Sales person told me it is one of the best sellers form this range
Gorgeous colours and popular shades too. But YSL lipsticks are so expensive.
