Smokey Jewels
Sephora Smokey Jewels PRO Eyeshadow Palette ($68.00 for 1.12 oz.) is another extension of the PRO Palette range, but unfortunately, it fell quite short. I wish it had done better because the color scheme made it stand out in a sea of warmer, more neutral palettes, and this had a cooler, earthy vibe with pops of color from green, teal, and purple. Every time I used this palette, it was frustrating to work with; every look took two to three times longer, I had a ridiculous amount of product below my lid (from fallout), and many shades lasted six to seven hours. While I experienced some powderiness and shorter-than-average longevity with the formula when it first debuted, this was a departure from that level of quality.

It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, slightly dusty texture, but it adhered well with minimal fallout and blended out nicely without sheering out too readily. Citrine
Citrine is a light green with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was very powdery, which resulted in excess product kicked up in the pan and a tendency for fallout during application, even over primer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation but sheered out to more semi-sheer coverage on my lid, so I would recommend using this with a dampened brush to help it adhere to the lid. It stayed on well for seven hours on me before I noticed fading.

Crystal is a light-medium plum with warm undertones and flecks of pink and copper micro-sparkle. It had sheer coverage that wasn’t buildable, and it still performed terribly in coverage and application using a dampened brush and/or primer. The texture was dry, gritty, and difficult to work with as there was a ton of fallout and very little transferred onto my lid. There seemed to be little longevity, though there was hardly any I could see on my lid. I could only see this being used to layer over another shade for added sparkle.

Amethyst
Amethyst is a medium purple with warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that did not build up well without using it with a dampened brush. The eyeshadow felt smooth to the touch but had more slip to the point where the shimmer did not seem to bind as well with the base. There was quite a bit of fallout during application as I tried to build up and blend out this shade. It wore well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Druzy is a medium, olive gold with warm undertones and flecks of darker gold sparkle. It had such a dry, stiff texture that made it difficult to get much pigmentation out of it, and then very little translated onto my lid. Sometimes I encounter textures like this one and can’t fathom how on earth it made it into production–I don’t know who is using this happily. There was little wear to determine as there was little that actually adhered in any usable fashion.

Capri is a muted, medium-dark teal with cool, blue undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had opaque color coverage that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out fairly easily. The texture felt drier to the touch, but this did not seem to impact the way it worked and applied in practice. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me before it started to show signs of wear.

Hematite is a deep gray with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff that adhered fairly evenly to bare skin. The texture was soft, smooth, and not too dusty, which helped it to adhere to my lid and blend out nicely. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before it started to fade visibly.

The texture felt dusty and almost grainy to me, which made it harder to get the color to go on evenly. It lasted well for seven hours before it started to wear noticeably.

Indigo
Indigo is a rich, deep violet with cool undertones and a frosted finish. The consistency was very loose and felt grainy, despite not seeming to be dry or dusty. It had good color payoff but had to really be pressed and pushed onto my lid to avoid it looking patchy, and there was a moderate amount of fallout that occurred as I tried to apply and blend out the eyeshadow. It stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours before it started to fade on my lid.

The color selection is really nice. Too bad the formula is such an epic fail.
What an absolute shame that this didn’t perform better. Some of the worst performers were the colours that really caught my eye (Druzy, Fern, Smoky Quartz!). If the quality had been there consistently throughout, this would have been a fantastic palette to own.
OMG – this really does contain the good (Sodalite), the bad and the ugly! How can Sephora get some basic shades so wrong? I completely admire your dedication in trying to use this palette, as some of the shades were so poor that it was hard to tell the colour.

This would have been a true contender for me, as muted colors are my apex current preference. Fabulous color story. Execrable execution. And I realize it’s peevish and pedantic of me, but if you’re using stone names (good idea, non-controversial) use them correctly. Sodalite is dark blue. It shows a lack of homework/research, and that S really does not GAS. Which such a poor performance does as well. Boo, fie, and harsher bad words!

I don’t understand how Sephora is such hit and miss. I really liked twon of their holiday palettes this year.
Where does Sephora have their palettes made? I wonder if it’s from the same factory in China where Morphe has theirs manufactured. Morphe,in my opinion, has horrible shadows. They are a perfect example of you get what you pay for. I have swatched them in Ulta. They are either really patchy with no color payoff, and/or have disappeared from my hand within 5 min.
The Morphe eyeshadows I’ve tried (two palettes, I think) aren’t like that for me!
