BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Eyeshadow Palette
BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Eyeshadow Palette ($19.00 for 1.58 oz.) contains 28, metallic eyeshadows. I picked this up a couple of months ago, because it was getting a lot of buzz, and I’ve been really impressed by the quality overall. Only a few shades had issues, and they were fairly minor (slightly less pigmented, could apply better with primer or with a dampened brush). The majority of the eyeshadows were very pigmented, applied beautifully on bare skin, blended out easily, and lasted for seven to nine hours on me (without primer). As they are all shimmery, it may not work as well as an all-in-one-look palette, though. If you like your high-shimmer, metallic eyeshadows, it’s well worth checking out!

It had nice color coverage, while the texture was blendable, it was a little firm int he pan, so a denser or flatter brush worked best with it. I’ve looked at these BH Cosmetics palettes so many times, and could never bring myself to get one because I figured the hype had to be more about the price, than the payoff. To be fair, I don’t watch youtubers, and I think they’re all over these things with swatches and reviews, so my own fault for not doing the research. Not much use for the super shimmery foiled shadows (though I was, at one point, considering the Viseart Boheme palette, which has a similar feel with far fewer colors). [sigh] Okay, maybe I’ll start doing some research on BH.
A lot of the really, really hyped up, lower cost products I kind of wait on before trying sometimes. I recognize my time is limited, and this palette is so large that it takes a lot of time to test, find dupes for, and write a review on, but it was definitely worth trying! I don’t know when was the last time I tried BH Cosmetics, prior to this!

Oh YAASSS!!! After all the rave review, I’ve been eyeing this palette for the longest time, but awaiting your thoughts. So glad it scored well, so many unique colors, the $19 price is already ridiculously cheap, and BH Cosmetics is currently 25% of sitewide! The palette is missing mattes, but I followed Nancy T.’s idea and got the NYX Ultimate Brights palette to pair with it, since it has 16 mattes in brights and pastels. This Foil kit will definitely be in my next BH order. Ulta is now starting to carry BH. I’m also a huge fan of their Party Girl Waterproof Gel Eyeliners – have 5 of the 6 colors, they are pigmented, creamy, and last +12 to 15 hrs on my super oily lids. Oh, also forgot to mention…have also heard many people raving about the BH Carli Bybel shadow and highlighter palette, used to be sold out all the time, looks perfect for summer.
Seeing the swatches when you first put them up a while back, I knew this would be a hit!! My gut told me it would be recommended and IT IS and I’m soooo excited!!
I was worried it would crease easily, but they held up quite well, actually!

Their Waterproof Lipliners are my favorite. As good as my Urban Decay. I like the Party Girl eyeliners a lot. Also, the Color Lock Matte Lipsticks, the Pop Art Lipsticks, the Enhancing Eyes Palettes, the Blushed Nudes Palette, Pride + Prejudice + Zombies face palette, take me to Brazil Palette, 10-pan Blush Palette, Eye & Lip Makeup Remover, and Studio Pro Brush Cleaner.
I like the Carli Bybel palette, I use the highlighters for eyeshadows too!

Wow! I was so not expecting to see a good review on this! I’ve always written off BH Cosmetics as an overhyped sponsored type brand you see on YouTube and Instagram a lot. I wonder if the other palettes are as nice…
I had to see a great number of swatches before thinking, “It might be as good as they say,” but there are some readers here who have it and vouched for it as well!
Another marathon finished. Excellent, comprehensive review and super looks. I’m just trying to USE, not buy eyeshadow, especially. But this is a bloody steal. Think it should go to the two people I bought Gwen for, and adjust the gifting list. My shoulder devil is telling me I could do this in small doses, bec I wear glasses. Just use some of your infinite stash, already! But this seriously would make the most marvelous gift. And at less than a buck a pop, they could prob even replace it. It is perm, right? Isn’t the Karli palette on Ulta BH? If so, would be nice if they expanded BH. A lot.
I think BH did recently get picked up by Ulta – not sure how much of their line they’ll carry, but here’s hoping it’s more and even in-store!
I’ve been curious about this palette since your sneak peek. I love seeing affordable products score well. How do the texture of these feel compared to City Color shimmer shadows or MUG Foiled shadows? Most of your shade analyses make me think they’re less dense and creamy than those and closer to a “regular” metallic formula. Thanks for testing this!
They are not as dense as the City Color, which I find denser than both MUG and BH. MUG is looser in the pan for me but thicker on the lid. MUG actually wears the shortest on me, and some of the MUG shades require a lot of primer prep (like two primers) to not crease on me (or at least, last a day), but some of the newer MUG Foiled lasted just fine on me (no primer), so they might have tweaked the formula a bit there.
YEYASSS!!! I love this palette SO much! Got mine as a gift, and having never used BH before, I used it with no preconceived notions. And had my socks knocked off, it is THAT good! I knew it would take time for you to be able to use all the shades (28!!!) and locate dupes in order to get a review of this GEM up. This palette is huge! But so very worth the wait, although I knew it would get a good grade, though. ?
(And the looks you did using it prove how wonderful this palette performs; total opacity and blended beautifully!)
They’re really pigmented while still adhering really well to the skin – I honestly expected creasing and was surprised that they wore well overall.

I grabbed this one because I couldn’t bring myself to check out with only one item (Carli Bybel, my other choice). On my aging lids..I definitely need a sticky base for these shadows, but have the same issue with the much much more expensive ABH shimmers and titaniums. I do think these have more of that ‘whitish’ sheen sitting on top of the shimmer which takes away from the intensity of the colour on me, but the ‘diamond’ like flecks do make for a pretty inner corner.

I had to laugh when I read that you also purchased the Carli Bybel palette along with this one. I did, too! I saw swatches of the Carli Bybel palette compared to some of the shadows in the Lorac Unzipped palette and my interest was piqued!
I also picked up another palette (just for the blushes). I figured if I was going to try BH for the first time, I’d see if performance varied by palette. I was also curious about their other products… and was determined to get free shipping! LOL
LOL no free shipping here …but it pains me too much to place an order where the shipping costs are higher than the actual product costs.. so I had to add to my cart too. 😀 Win for me though.. love the Carli Bybel palette (not as much as the Anastasia, but they work well in tandem) and I use the highlighters as shadows too.

It helps to see if the eye look is wearable or not in normal days. Lot of eye look I see are sooo pretty and I want to try them, but they may not be appropriate for every day, or may not be flattering seen from far, or combined with the face shapes, etc. An all face picture definitely helps to see the entire look.
The colorful eye look you did is so gorgeous ! I want to wear colorful eye look every day ! But I can’t.
I just saw a video today made some years ago with a BH eyeshadow palette with planet names in it. It’s sooo gorgeous ! I regret to not have heard about this brand at the right moment. When they make good stuff, why don’t they keep them in the permanent line ?! It’s so frustrating that it’s LE !

I was so happy to see you gave this a good review. I have just about every palette known to man. High end, low end, you name it. I know I have a problem. But this is one of my favorite palettes by far. It’s not a palette for a complete look, but if you like a foiled eyeshadow on your lid like I do, you will love this. I would love it even if it were an expensive palette, but I think I got it on sale on BH’s website for about $12!
I agree – it’s great if you love your shimmers, but it isn’t ideal as a go-to, all-in-one kind of palette!

What a mammoth amount of work Christine, testing these shadows! For those who love foiled eye looks, this would be the palette for you. Fantastic quality (equal or better to many HE products) at such a reasonable price. Whilst I don’t wear foiled, I do appreciate the look on others. Your eye looks are beautiful and these colours are so varied that would suit lots of syles.

These are really pretty and the price is right! I might pair these with my Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements(naked basics 1&2 dupe) and their Essential Mattes but I don’t mind having to work with it a bit and using mattes from other palettes. I’ve tried a few MUG foil eyeshadows and they’re way too greasy for my eyelids so I’m glad there’s an affordable alternative. This seems like a good palette for a freelance MUA kit also.
It would be great paired with a good matte palette, Ginny! These might work better – even some of the MUG Foiled shadows creased on me and were difficult even over some primers.
I saw your review today, and I bought the palette! he he I always trust your reviews! I liked their Galaxy palette, but the colors just didn’t have great lasting power even with different eyeshadow primers. I don’t trust You tubers when they promote their own palette.

I’m not completely surprised that this scored pretty well because of the finish. Shimmers are easier to do well. It reminds me a bit of my first foray into colored powdered eyeshadow with a shimmer Coastal Scents palette. Most of the shades in that performed adequately. But, at the price point and amount of product here, it is impressive that not a single shade was out of the B range.
And that blue highlight in the second look is to die for. I was already tempted by that Anastasia kit…

I’ve heard bloggers consistently raving about BH Cosmetics, but I don’t trust a lot of bloggers so, though I would go and look at their various products, I never purchased anything. That is… until about an hour ago! I saw your swatches, read your reviews, and decided to go for it! I also picked up the Carli Bybel palette (have no idea who that is), another palette with shadows and blushes (because I didn’t like any of the blush only palettes), and a few other items. The big question is, where the heck am I going to store even more makeup!?!
BTW, how big are the size of the pans compared to ABH or MAC? If the shadows are 0.05oz each, then I’m assuming they’re the size of a MAC single, yes? I hope so, and I hope I can depot them easily!

It’s okay! I had already ordered the palette so I was going to find out soon enough anyway. I’m just always getting ahead of myself, planning my next move. 😉 I’ve depotted a few and added them to my self-made palettes. The shadows are glued onto a thin, plastic base, so you only need to get under the shadow you want to depot, push it up, then pull it out.

I love the lipliners! I went ahead and bought the full range last year and I reach for them more than my Mac liners.
I also have their glamorous blush pallette (the name is something like that) and I have found the colour payoff to be on par with department store brands.

I adore this palette, too! I can’t use the Makeup Geek foiled shadows because my lids are so oily that they just crease on me and disappear within no time. These have a slightly drier formula so it works out much better, plus the entire palette is the cost of two MUG foiled shadows! Can’t beat that! I only wish the packaging was better – I ended up depotting mine and putting them in a z-palette because they kept falling out. I’ve tried the other BH palettes, including the beauty vlogger ones, and this is by far the best and deserves more attention! Thanks for always putting out honest, great reviews!
I have this and love it, but be gentle with it. Every single pan has fallen out of their homes and I have glued them in with Duo glue. Because really what other type of glue do you keep in your bathroom. Sadly it is not a palette that I can travel with.
Holy Moly! I’m so impressed with the time and know-how you put into doing a review this size. It makes me tired just thinking about the effort you put into wearing, assessing, reviewing swatching, photographing, cataloging and comparing dupes for even a SINGLE shade, let alone a whole palette. I can imagine it would be disappointing to spend that much time on something mediocre or bad, so I can see why you might not jump into a review of a large-ish lower priced palette.

Haha! Well, I did turn in my reviewer tags for all those 50+ piece palettes and the like (that includes stuff like Sephora Blockbuster palettes but also the 88-color palettes) as a result – I just know it’s too daunting, lol. It’s also the equivalent of about 10 posts’ worth of effort for one, so it usually puts me behind.
I’m very disappointed. I just got this in the mail and every shadow pan was about to fall out of the palette. They used a little bit of glue to stick them to the palette. Very disappointed in the packaging! The quality of the eyeshadows weren’t too good, either. They felt very sticky and like a bad version of the MUG eyeshadows. This, if you ask me, doesn’t deserve an A. It deserves a B-! 🙁
I’m sorry to hear that, Serwin! I didn’t have any issues with packaging, though I personally had a better experience with respect to wear with these Makeup Geek’s Foiled and find the two formulas very similar myself.
