Sephora Warm PRO Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Warm
Sephora Warm PRO Eyeshadow Palette ($68.00 for 1.12 oz.) contains 28 eyeshadows in a “warm” color story. I would agree with that description–it is definitely a warm-toned palette–with a lot of mid-tone and medium-dark neutrals in shades of brown and more brown. There were two major misses in the palette (one of which was bizarre that it was a miss) with some that were easy to work with and others that were somewhere in the middle.
The formula is supposed to feature “high pigment, high performance” with long wear and better adhesion. The matte shades were often powdery with some seeming chalky–I had a lot of looks turn a bit gray or muddy along the edges after using a shade above the crease or on the brow bone. The shimmers varied from smooth, creamy, and dense (with noticeable silicone) or drier, looser, and there were some glitter shades that felt more like loose sand than usable product. The latter was barely salvage with a glitter adhesive, but they could not be solved with fingertips or a damp brush.
I know there has been a lot of buzz about the new Sephora PRO palettes, but I did not find the eyeshadow formula to be that easy to work with as quality varied too much between shades, they applied lighter/darker than they appeared in the pan, and there was considerable fallout (and yes, I did tap off excess product prior to applying!). Even when I tried the formula over a primer, I was less impressed; sometimes, I felt like the eyeshadows were easier to control over bare skin! I’ve actually been a fan of Sephora’s Colorful Eyeshadows since they released them several years ago, including the reformulation, but these are substantially different (which some may prefer).
$68 is a higher price point for palettes, but for most mid-end brands, it seems in line with the size of the palette–each shade is almost as much the average single, full-size eyeshadow. Sephora’s house brand isn’t high-end, and it sometimes comes in lower than mid-end with respect to product pricing, but it seems to float around there. Using Sephora’s Colorful Eyeshadow (different formula) as a point of comparison, each shade retails for $10.00 and contains 0.07 oz. or $142.86/oz. The palette retails for $68.00 and contains 1.12 oz. or $60.71/oz. Here are some other pricing comparisons of a few mid-end/high-end palettes:
- Sephora PRO Eyeshadow Palette: $68.00 for 1.12 oz. or $60.71/oz.
- Too Faced Natural Love: $59.00 for 0.90 oz. or $65.56/oz.
- Tarte Tarteist Palette: $53.00 for 0.70 oz. or $75.71/oz.
- Ciate Pretty, Fun, & Fearless: $42.00 for 0.52 oz. or $80.77/oz.
- Too Faced Sweet Peach: $49.00 for 0.54 oz. or $90.74/oz.

Canvas
Canvas is a pale beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a drier, chalkier feel in the pan, which translated to a more powdery application. There was a strong white base to the color, which resulted in turning some colors grayish when blended with this one. The color wore well for seven hours.

Oat
Oat is a soft beige with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation and more substance to its texture compared to Canvas, so it did not feel as powdery nor did it cause as much fallout during application. I noticed fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Biscotti
Biscotti is a soft, light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. It had a rather powdery consistency, which made it prone to sheering out and only yield semi-sheer coverage. It was not buildable, and over a primer, it had more medium coverage but was never opaque. This shade lasted for six and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Camel
Camel is a soft, medium beige with warm, yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had medium coverage with a moderately powdery texture that kicked up a lot of excess product and had a tendency to drop powder below wherever it was applied (often muddying my crease as I applied it above the crease or on the brow bone). This shade started to fade on me after seven hours of wear.

Peach
Peach is a medium, orange-leaning coral with golden sparkle. It had semi-sheer color coverage, which improved to medium coverage with a dampened brush or over an adhesive base, but the texture was very dense but dry, so the sparkles came loose easily and tended to fallout throughout wear (without an adhesive base/primer). I found it very hard to blend out and felt it always looked patchy, even over an adhesive base. On its own, it lasted for six hours but caused irritation throughout the day due to constant fallout.

Brown Sugar
Brown Sugar is a soft, medium brown with warm, yellow undertones and a smattering of sparkle. The way it translated, however, was as a sad, pitiful brown that should have never made it out of production to begin with. It was dry, chalky, and difficult to use–with or without primer–as it was sheer and grainy. Patted over a tacky base, it had more payoff but was uneven and did not blend out well. What small amount applied to the lid seemed to last for five hours or so (but it was hard to discern).

This is so disappointing! I don’t mind having to use primer with the more finicky shadows if I like the colors enough, but with a palette of this price, I was expecting more even performance across shades.
I wish it was better!
Definitely seems way better in quality than the Cool palette! Although, IDK what’s up with that peachy glitter shade and Brown Sugar, though? I’ve watched xSparkage’s review of this, and her explanation for these glittery non-existent shades just isn’t enough for me to get a grip on. Nope, I’m not buying it! Besides, tomorrow my CP Yes, Please arrives with a pot of Snakebite added to my already crazy amount of warm neutals.
I wish I knew why Brown Sugar was such a miss…
As I was watching xSparkage’s explanation of those glitter shades I was trying to figure out how that was different than every glitter bomb people complain about in every palette they show up in. It sounds like they aren’t different at all.
from what I’ve heard, the peach is supposed to be a glitter topper? it’s not meant to be a stand-alone shadow or glitter. it’s more like a topper. not sure how correct that is
Wow!! I was expecting the Warm palette to score the best, but I think those 4 D/F’s really tanked their score, and those are easy shades to get right -all browns/shimmery peach. So strange! And so sad too, because there are some really beautiful, nice quality shades in here. If they had got those 4 right, this palette would’ve been a serious contender in a market flooded with warm shadows
The shimmery peach did not even really feel like a “top coat” kind of product… just too dense overall.
It looks like the shade “Chestnut” had its header/pictures duplicated from “Brown Sugar” — just a heads up! :^)
Fixed, so sorry Betsy!
i absolutely love your reviews. that is all.
Thank you, TV!
Dreadful. This should have been a contender. Apologies, Elia and Marlon. Yet another reason to get the Zoeva smaller matte palette. Seems as if Viseart warm mattes covers a lot of this. Did pick out a couple of decent dupes, though. It actually does not seem that much better than the cool palette to me. There are so many choices for warm palettes with orange and red tones these days. Holy not it! Too bad S will edit out the bad consumer reviews. Many folks will spring and regret it.
I was curious to see what you thought on these. I am in love with this palette, and rank it up there with Holy Grail ones. They do have a lot of dust-up and they actually remind me of Kat Von D shadows because that’s how her mattes are- kinda chalky and dusty, but pigmented. But I don’t mind the dust because the pigment here is amazing and the large, wonderful range of my favorite colors, including black. Very pigmented and nice except those 2 metallics, which are noted. They’re not bad with Fix Plus, but they are not good. I definitely think it’s an amazing palette and easy to work with as well. I’d say folks need to try it for themselves. The Urban D Heat was harshly criticized at first, but I love it. That’s what makes the world go round! 🙂
The idea that $68 isn’t too bad for 28 different shades falls flat when you get so many dupes within the same palette… I mean, how many ever so slightly different shades of medium brown do you need? They’re all going to look similar on the eye. Definitely a pass for me, if I have 70 bucks to spend that is not something I’ll buy!
Difficult to work with eye shadows + lots of redundant shades + high price = disappointment.
