Colour Me Obsessed

ColourPop Colour Me Obsessed Crème Gel Liner Roll ($40.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a limited edition set that includes 10 full-sized, twist-up pencil eyeliners in an assortment of shades from white to burgundy. The majority of the shades are available individually, but there were few shades that were new-to-me within the set, I figured I’d review the whole set even though the set itself is currently out of stock.

ColourPop’s eyeliners are decent, but the darker shades tend to have greater coverage, better and more even application, and slightly longer wear than their light and mid-depth shades with the more pastel hues being the chalkier ones.

Exit

Exit is a soft white with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied well to my lower lash line with minimal skipping. The consistency was moderately dense with just enough glide not to tug during application, but it could have been smoother overall. It lasted nicely for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$7.00/0.007 oz. - $1000.00 Per Ounce

The updated formula is supposed to have "18-hour" wear that is waterproof and be "super pigmented" for both the lash line as well as the waterline. The brand stated that the formula will set "after around 10 seconds." Many shades had semi-opaque to opaque, buildable coverage, but some shades had uneven, sheerer coverage that did not layer well, so they were more challenging to apply and to use.

The majority of shades were creamy enough to glide across the lash line without tugging or pulling, though a few shades were stiffer, more prone to breaking or dragging.

The formula seemed water-resistant based on testing with water, but the wear was more like 10 to 13 hours (depending on the shade) rather than 18 hours of solid wear. A lot of the shimmer shades lasted four to six hours on the waterline, while more matte shades tended to last five to seven hours on my waterline. These are long-wearing times for a pencil eyeliner, generally, but they are a fair bit short of the 18-hours claimed so a lot of shades rated lower than they might seem if you aren't a stickler for 18-hour wear!

It had rich color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to my lower lash line without tugging or skipping. The consistency was lightly creamy and smooth, which made it comfortable to work with. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Peach Fuzz

Peach Fuzz is a light, coral-orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that built up to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was lightly creamy and glided on comfortably, though I felt like it thickened unevenly just a tad. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Extra Frosting

Extra Frosting is a pale yellow with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was chalkier and drier, which resulted in less even application of color and a tendency for it to pill on itself rather than build up coverage. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that lasted decently for seven hours before fading noticeably.

Ice Breaker

Ice Breaker is a mint green with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff that was somewhat buildable, but the issue was the texture; it was chalkier and drier, which resulted in the product pushing onto itself rather than building up evenly. It showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours on me.

Prance is a bright, periwinkle blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. Amethyst Hour

Amethyst Hour is a medium-dark pink with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which applied evenly to my skin. It had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was slightly drier than ideal, so I did feel like it had a tendency to bunch up and catch on my lashes when I tried applying it to my lower lash line (in a way that’s abnormal in my experience). It wore well for seven hours before fading visibly.

Joy Ride

Joy Ride is a medium-dark burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque coverage, which built up readily to full coverage with less than a second layer. The texture was slightly denser but still had enough creaminess to glide across my skin without tugging. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Charmer

Charmer is a deep burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied more evenly than I suspected it would as the initial consistency felt a little dense. The product lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Getting a set might be the way to go, as individual shades are often OOS. I stalk for days, then give up. Some CP liners will always evade me, no matter how Pokémon I try. The RBK liners? What am I, three Collections behind? Five? I do love liners to put a bit of color into a basically neutral look. Used the basic green Linda Hallberg one today for a touch of Christmas.

Ohhh I love coloured automatic eyepencils! They were my first makeup product I ever used. I think that are more or less 15years that I’m using them everyday on the outer lower lash line (and sometimes into the inner tearduct too). I want them all… But of course colourpop it is out my reach ehehe
