ColourPop Back to Cool Lippie Stix Set

ColourPop Back to Cool Lippie Stix Set ($30.00 for 0.21 oz.) includes six full-sized Lippie Stix for fall. All six are exclusive to the set, and the set is limited edition. It’s another set full of mostly matte/satin type shades with good color payoff and long-wear. A few shades were a bit drying towards the end of wear, which was the only “big” issue I had.

Baewatch is described as a “dusty rose in a matte finish.” It’s a slightly muted, medium-dark pinky plum with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque coverage with a lightly creamy, glide-on consistency that didn’t tug but doesn’t slide around either. It wore well for five hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. Huda Beauty Trophy Wife (P, $20.00) is lighter, warmer (95% similar). MAC Craving (P, $19.00) is more muted (95% similar). Bite Beauty Pluot (P, $28.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Pat McGrath Wild Orchid (P, $30.00) is less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Lolly (DC, $5.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Private Party (LE, $19.00) is lighter, more muted, cooler (90% similar). NARS Vivien (P, $34.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Barberry (LE, $24.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Urban Decay WSM (P, $18.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). ColourPop Tiger (LE, $7.00) is darker, less pigmented, cooler (85% similar). Make Up For Ever M102 (DC, $22.00) is darker (85% similar). ColourPop Gifted (P, $7.00) is darker, brighter (85% similar). L'Oreal Le Rosewood Ambition (P, $13.99) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Urban Decay Seismic (DC, $18.00) is more shimmery, less pigmented, glossier (90% similar). Givenchy Violine Precieux (312) (LE, $36.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). NARS Wasted (LE, $27.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Casablanca (P, $57.00) is darker, warmer, glossier (95% similar). ColourPop Bad Habit (DC, $6.50) is darker, cooler (85% similar). ColourPop Thirsty (LE, $7.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). Estee Lauder Unattainable (P, $32.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Choker is described as a “light cool-toned beige in a creme finish.” It’s a light, rosy beige with neutral-to-cool undertones and a satin finish. It had good color coverage with just a little of the natural lip coming through. The color was creamy with a light tackiness that lasted for four hours on me. It was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Clouds in My Coffee (DC, $21.00) is lighter (95% similar). bareMinerals Nudist (PiP, $20.00) is warmer (95% similar). bareMinerals Sexpot (PiP, $20.00) is cooler (95% similar). Too Faced Topless (DC, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter, glossier (85% similar). Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Structure (DC, $17.00) is lighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Alexander (2016) (P, $36.00) is lighter (90% similar). Natasha Denona Beatrice (31NP) (P, $25.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Cle de Peau Silk Scroll (P, $65.00) is lighter (90% similar). Maybelline Daringly Nude (P, $7.99) is less glossy (90% similar). Hourglass Believer (P, $32.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC Close Contact (LE, $19.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Naked Ambition (P, $57.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Safe Word (DC, $18.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). MAC French Twist (LE, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Tarte Rum Punch (P, $21.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Peachstock (P, $19.00) is darker, more muted (90% similar). ColourPop Aquarius (P, $7.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Anastasia Pure Hollywood (P, $20.00) is darker, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Katherine (LE, $36.00) is darker (85% similar). bareMinerals Dream Big (LE, $20.00) is lighter, warmer, less glossy (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Mosh Pit is described as a “mid-tone warm brown in a matte finish.” It’s a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nice color coverage that applied beautifully–smooth, even color–without tugging on the lips. The consistency had just enough slip not to tug, but it adheres well to the lip so wear time is longer at six hours. It was a smidgen drying after four hours of wear. Bite Beauty Chai (DC, $26.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Beach Bum (P, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bite Beauty Verbena (DC, $26.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Out of Sync is described as a “bright blue fuchsia in a matte finish.” It’s a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had rich pigmentation that covered the lips with smooth, even coverage. The texture was a little drier than the other shades but not too stiff–it doesn’t glide across perfectly, though. On me, it was still going strong after six hours of wear but was somewhat drying after four hours. Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) (P, $36.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Just My Type (P, $20.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC No Faux Pas (LE, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Bite Beauty Framboise (DC, $24.00) is lighter (95% similar). TGIF is described as a “true brick red in a matte finish.” It’s a medium-dark red with subtle, warmer undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good color coverage with a lightly creamy consistency that applied without dragging on the lip. The color lasted for six hours and was a little drying at the end. Bite Beauty Red Velvet (DC, $24.00) is cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M402 (DC, $22.00) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop Lost (P, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). Too Sexy is described as a “deep red violet with a subtle blue flash in a matte finish.” It’s a medium-dark, fuchsia-shimmered raspberry pink with cool undertones and a frosted, matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a firmer, stiffer texture. It still managed to apply evenly, but it does drag and skip across the lips at times. The color lasted for six hours strong but was drying. Urban Decay After Dark (DC, $22.00) is more shimmery, glossier (95% similar). Urban Decay Afterdark (DC, $18.00) is lighter (95% similar). These are really pretty shades, but I am really hesitant to get any Colour Pop lippie stix anymore. I made a big order of blush, eye shadows, and lippie stix a couple of weeks ago. The blush and shadows were all great, but all of the lippie stix were absolutely horrid, even ones that have gotten really good reviews here and on other sites. They were all either dry and cakey or smeary and created huge, obvious lines when I pressed my lips together. I got a variety of finishes, too (satin, glossy, hyper-glossy, and sheer). I was so disappointed that I’d wasted the money on them instead of getting one or two nice higher-end lipsticks or glosses, where I could easily return them if they didn’t work.

Super fun and I love Baewatch and Mosh Pit. Christine how does the formula of a top-performing Matte ColourPop lippie compare to the newer formula MAC mattes? I own one ColourPop matte but it is more like a retro matte and I don’t think it’s a good representation of the formula (Toucan, B- per your rating).

Nicole Avatar

Wow, you look great in every single shade. I have been back and forth in my mind with this set. your amazing grade is not helping now! The dryness, I don’t care for much and I’m well stocked on lippies. But, I can say I don’t have many of the dupes you listed. I’m really surprised this set is still around! Hmm…dilemmas! 🙂

Nancy T Avatar

While I really love Baewatch and Mosh Pit, with the others, I either already have a much nicer dupe ( After Dark and VG I ) or it’s not a shade I’m into for winter, as in Out Of Sync, or with Choker, just too, too light for my complexion. So this one is an “Idk”.

Katherine T. Avatar

Oh gee, I like 4 out of 6 (Baewatch, Moshpit, TGIF, and Too Sexy), but I probably have dupes in my stash for some of them, and I’m up to my eyeballs in lippies already. This might be a tough call… decisions, decisions.

Sarah Avatar

Great Review Christine! Thanks to you, now I’m a colourpop addict. It’s cheap and performs well. I am very pleased with your reviews, since I always trust them.

Mercedes Avatar

I just bought my first ColourPop products back in August and already I’m a huge fan – these look like they’re going to convince me to become an even bigger one! Those are great colors, thanks for the swatches. I wasn’t sure if all of them would be workable on me, but after seeing the swatches I think they can be. 🙂

By the way, where do you get your earrings? They’re fantastic!

Claire L Avatar

I like Baewatch best, and for nostalgia reasons, TGIF and Mosh Pit, wore similar shades first time round at uni in the 90’s! The only colour I wouldn’t wear is Choker, as Rachel R says, it’d look too concealer-like on me and make me look like death warmed up!

Kayle Avatar

This set is super pretty! Such a shame the only color I’d want to wear is Mosh Pit though, if only they sold it individually. I think TGIF would flatter me also but seeing as I already own one of its dupes (Poison) along with a million other reds I think it’s safe to say I’m covered in the red department.

Steffa Avatar

I’m really loving all of these colours, I’ve been wanting to try these for some time and now might be a great time to do it. One thing that’s bothering me though, I’m a bit of a germaphobe so the shot of Mosh Pit (the bullet) is bothering me cause it looks like it’s sprouting hairs, please tell me it’s just the lighting 🙁

Rebecca Avatar

Your eye look is beautiful, Christine! I’m so tempted to place a large order from ColourPop, but I’m pretty sure my husband would scream if I did that, since my vanity isn’t even set up 100% so I haven’t been using most of my stash! lol

KJH Avatar

Love the hit of Melrose in your eye look! I put on 90210 this AM, then decided to tone down the glitter (a little OTT for a day hab) with Sephora 0vercast. Now, maybe I’ll redo some of the Forever Freshman for night job. Think Overcast has a good future as a tone-me down. I, too like some, but not all of the l/s, but you’ve got me covered for dupes. I got 3 sets from my first CP order. Thank god for Paula’s Choice. Every cream product, esp. cheeks, just disappeared. Too bad she can’t normalize my waterline! Now I can wear ColourPop. YAY!

Naty Avatar

Craving Colourpop! Too bad I’m from Brazil….

Love how happy you look in all of them, it seems most of the shades worked really well for you!

Rachel G Avatar

I really like the pigmentation of these! I love “Out of sync” and “TGIF”, on you! I think the beighter lip hues look great on you. “Choker” seemed like it would be eeh, but it also looks great on. I really want to try “TGIF” for myself. Im not huge on the bright, bold colors, but these, I just might have to try!

Sarah S. Avatar

I have been wanting some ColourPop lippies for some time and I feel like this is a great starter set. I would look awful in Choker, but like, the other four are really nice.
