Natasha Denona Love Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Love
Natasha Denona Love 15-Pan Small Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.67 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette that is in the smaller, more compact 15-pan format, though each shade is still quite large on a per-shade basis (0.044 oz.). I struggled with Dream, which was patchy and harder to blend with visible “dots” of color that seemed to sink into my my skin, and Trust was sheerer, more powdery, and prone to fallout. The remaining shades performed well with semi-opaque to opaque coverage, easy textures to work with, and good longevity.

First
First is a light-medium peach with strong, warm orange undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, velvety, and smooth without being too powdery nor too firmly pressed into the pan. It had opaque pigmentation that stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
-
The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Lifetime
Lifetime is a light-medium orange with strong, warm undertones and flecks of greenish-gold and gold sparkle. The texture felt creamy, but it also was more loosely-pressed, so it applied best with gentle pressing and patting motions or else there was some fallout. It had opaque color payoff that lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

The consistency was soft, blendable, and not too powdery nor too firmly pressed into the pan, so it was easy to work with and wasn’t prone to fallout. It wore well for nine hours before fading visibly on me.

Trust
Trust is a muted, medium-dark plum with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had medium coverage that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage with a second layer, but there was some fallout due to the more powdery, drier texture. While purple-leaning shades are known to be harder to formulate, I was surprised at how powdery it was compared to the other shades in the palette. It blended out without too much effort, though. There was light fading apparent after eight hours of wear.

Heart
Heart is a medium-dark red with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was easily built up to full coverage. The texture was smooth, velvety, and substantial without being too thick or too powdery, so it blended out easily but retained its opacity on my skin. It wore nicely for nine hours before fading a bit, and I didn’t notice much in the way of staining after removal.

Giving
Giving is a brighter, peachy-coral base with flecks of pink-to-violet shifting sparkle that gave it a more sparkling, metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented with a soft, slightly more loosely-pressed texture (so I’d use a lighter hand to avoid excess kicked up in the pan) that yielded a touch of fallout during application. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before I noticed fading.

Commitment
Commitment is a deep burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It was more of a hybrid cream-powder formula, so it was dense and more firmly-pressed into the pan. It worked best with synthetic brushes to achieve good coverage that was buildable to full pigmentation, though I ultimately applied with a goat hair, fluffy crease brush for a more diffused effect without issue. It showed signs of fading after nine hours of wear.

Formula Overview

Soul (297CM)
Soul is a dusty, darker pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer. The texture was slightly drier and thinner compared to the other mattes, though it applied evenly and blended out with little effort. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before I noticed fading.

Passion
Passion is a deeper, reddish-plum with moderate, warm undertones and flecks of plum and gold micro-sparkle over a more pearly sheen. The texture was denser, lightly creamy but more firmly-pressed into the pan. I didn’t have any issues picking up product with my brush, but I’d recommend using a slightly denser, flatter brush to apply and lay down the product evenly. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Dream
Dream is a lighter purple with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. The texture felt lightly creamy to the touch–like a cream-powder hybrid–but it was more like a powder once it came into contact with my skin. I had difficulty really diffusing and spreading this shade out evenly, though. Functionally, it worked better applied to the lid or in a more opaque, less-blended capacity as it looked somewhat patchy and “sank” into my pores (little visible dots of deeper color) that just would not even out. It stayed on well for nine hours before fading noticeably.

This is such a well performing, beautiful palette! But do I need it if I have ABH x Jackie Aina, ND Sunrise and Lila, though? I’m not decided either way yet. Although I have a feeling that I may seek it out *after* my move because I love the color story of purples red, richer pinks.
So this is a perfect example of a “deal breaker” palette, relating to the question earlier today. Just too many red and pink and deep coral shadows to be of any use for me.
Thank you for the fast review! I’m passing on this one as I bought the viseart valentine palette because my skin does better with that formula but I’m awaiting the face palette review. ?
Thank you for your review! I was waiting for it before deciding whether to purchase. I love the color Blind (which you listed with the dupe of my favorite ABH shadow Cyborg from the Sultry palette). I would love to see a palette of this size from Natasha with lots of different metallic pewters, silvers, some golds, greens, etc. I think that would be stunning. I may purchase this palette. Lovely looks Christine.
My favourite shade of the palette would be Dream but not even ND can do a good purple???
The Lila palette has some amazing purples (my favorite color for eyeshadow) so I’m going to stick with that one.
Oh good. I’m still feeling excited about this release. It’s unfortunate Dream and Trust don’t perform as well, but not a dealbreaker for me in this case. I’ll use Colourpop’s SSS in “Daddy” (I hate the name) as my dupe for Dream if I decide it’s too troublesome. I can’t say I own a plummy/eggplant eyeshadow that doesn’t have some kind of patchiness, so that doesn’t bother me much either. Like you said they’re difficult to formulate. I’m sure there are better attempts, but I don’t think I own one. Otherwise I’m excited by all the other shades.
This may have to come home with me! I wonder if the Huda New Nudes has very similar colors? It’s my favorite palette.
According to the dupes listed above, none are from that particular palette.
I got this Friday and am so excited about it! I’ve only played with it once to try out two looks. I am excited to dig into it more this week! Thanks for the review ❤️❤️
Generally this is a very good palette, although it’s a shame that some of the purple shades have performed poorly – Dream and Trust. Far too many pinks/reds for me, but I think it would be a good one for those who love these shades.
Thanks for this review, this palette is on its way to my home and I can’t wait to use it ! I love the look you created, it’s very pretty.
Random observations:
Saw a tutorial with Dream using a really dense natural haired brush and packing motions over an ABH eye primer unset.. Sonia G worker was the brush, I believe. I wore the shade on my lower lash and as always, I used NARS soft matte to prime my lower lash first.. so I think the shadow definitely needs a tacky base for adherence. Once it’s on, it stays… with that caveat. It’s that weird ND cream matte formula which is a love/hate for many.
Blind is an interesting complex shadow, reads with a purple tone swatched on me.
I like this palette a lot, but it’s not a cohesive one; more a dip and and grab for hits of intensIty which I typically pair with others which are more muted.
The reds and pinks put me off this palette but those duo chromes sure are pretty.
Ok, there Is nothing so unique here, in my opinion. Your (beautiful) look can be reproduce with many many of the other palette in the market (even if ND’s It’s supposed to be One of best formula) and I’ve got dupes for almost everything… Except for some shades that are not my Cup of tea at all
I think this is going to be my first Natasha palette!!! The colours are GORGEOUS !! My favourite palettes are purple and pinks!! The Colorpop Lilac You A Lot, It’s My Pleasure and Huda Beauty’s Mercury Retrograde are my absolute FAVES!! So excited to add this to my collection!!! My wallet on the other hand…. Hoping it is worth the investment!!
My heart sinks, I’ve been searching for a purple like dream for ages. Most purples are too pink or mauve to my liking. The rest of the palette is stunning, but I won’t buy it when my favourite color will nor perform.
Is the Sunrise palette the only other ND palette with the same pan size as the Love palette?
Yes.
Just wondering what is the batch code of your palette coz I have the same opinion as yours. Mel Thompson on youtube mentioned hers was perfect and might be some batches have this problem. TIA
All of the photos I have are posted above of the box packaging/palette, so that’s all the info I have. I don’t keep boxes, so if it was printed on the side, then I don’t have access to that any more. Sorry!
