Eyeshadows Over $10 | 2019 Editor's Favorites
Eyeshadow palettes continued to be released in full force throughout 2019, but there were some higher-end single eyeshadows that caught my eye over the year. It was nice to see Pat McGrath singles launch earlier this year with some standout shades like Lapis Luxury and Divine Mink become available.
I’ve long been a fan of the more loose/pressed hybrid powder eyeshadow, so I enjoyed Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pots, Ciate Marbled Metals, and Touch in Sol Metallist Eyeshadows. MAC Vio-lit might be one of the most gorgeous purple eyeshadows ever released.
If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2019, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). Were there any standout, higher-end eyeshadow singles from the year? So many! Specifically, the Ciate Marbled Metals and Touch N Sol Metalists.
What three shades from a palette would you love to see sold as singles in 2020? PMG Velouria, VR Rose Venus and Sinful.
How often did you wear eyeshadow during the year? Not as often as I ought to have, I’m afraid. 3-4 days per week on average.
Were there any standout, higher-end eyeshadow singles from the year? MAC Vio-Lit Extra Dimension Foil Eye Shadow.
What three shades from a palette would you love to see sold as singles in 2020? Urban Decay Plunge and Double Dip from the Beached Palette, and Anastasia Cyborg from the Sultry Palette.
How often did you wear eyeshadow during the year? Almost every day until the last couple months, as I was ill. During that time, I wore it about once a week or so.
Were there any standout, higher-end eyeshadow singles from the year? I really enjoy Marc Jacobs Brav-O and finally this year, I purchased MAC Plumage, which looks sort of ugly in the pan but on my eyes, it gives a really lovely effect
What three shades from a palette would you love to see sold as singles in 2020? UD Casterly Rock and Winter Is Here, Anastasia Beverly Hills Marina (from the Mario palette)
How often did you wear eyeshadow during the year? pretty much every day…on average, I’d say 6 days a week. I love eyeshadow.
Were there any standout, higher-end eyeshadow singles from the year? I really enjoyed MUFE I-544 Pink Granite, and Hourglass Scattered Light Shadow in Ray. There were quite a few singles from Sydney Grace and Fyrinnae that I enjoyed over the last year too.
What three shades from a palette would you love to see sold as singles in 2020? I would love to see any of the PMGL VR or Astro shades as a single.
How often did you wear eyeshadow during the year? All the time. Pretty much every day.
Were there any standout, higher-end eyeshadow singles from the year?
Yes, Lapis Luxury by PMG and Martini by Tarte were the standout shades for me.
What three shades from a palette would you love to see sold as singles in 2020?
Amber and Rose Gold from Lorac (ProMetals palette) and Double Life from UD’s Born to Run.
