Sometimes, it’s 2 or 3 gold shades, even in the smaller palettes! I only have one PMG palette (a 6 pan) and I’ve always been turned off by the inclusion of those sequins (I’ve mentioned this several times before) and now, all this urgency and angst that people seem to be having trying to purchase her most recent releases – I have to say, it has really turned me off the brand.

Tracey E Avatar

Mariella, I, too, have been turned off this brand by the limited quantities, order cancellations, and competition to get her releases. I have not seen any material statement or change that would address the significant issues customers have had with recent launches. It has left me wondering if she purposely wants to create this chaos. It’s a turnoff.

Mariella Avatar

I guess “chaos” is a type of publicity and you know that old saying about how the only bad publicity is no publicity…. Well, it’s a major turn off to me. I hate being “played” by a company – any company – and to think of all the time people waste sitting around on their computers or phones in the wee small hours, hoping they can pounce on something that has totally manufactured “scarcity” – all that time that could be put to use volunteering with the elderly or helping young students improve their reading or volunteering in a food bank… When all is said and done, it is “only” makeup.

AK Avatar

Came here to say this exact damn thing. I suppose she sees gold as her signature, but how many shades of gold do we need, and at that price point?

At least put some Silver in instead, maybe. Just once. Without adding it to the gold.

Kira Avatar

I love Lunar New Year products, and my immediate reaction is BUY THIS!!! But thankfully you have accurate swatches and I gladly have a couple of days to take a breather and think about this.

This won’t have the same demand as the Star Wars palette, but now all these hyped up launches are starting to make me feel like a sheep. I completely forgot about the Decadence launch until 12/27 and read all the comments and… wowsers! What an ordeal for so many people over the last two months. I always used to marvel at the Black Friday stampede videos, now am I becoming one of the people snatching a Tickle-Me-Elmo from another shopper in a melee? Eep!

I feel like I may already have a lot of these represented in my stash. I also just bought so much PMG recently that I haven’t fully appreciated each color I’ve already gotten.

P Jill Avatar

Is anyone else getting burned out on PMG ever frequent launches? I believe that I have had enough—- after I receive my LE Star Wars duo order. I have so many of her palettes now. But the Motherships rule the mini palettes IMO.

Tigerlaf Avatar

This one looks like one of the least impressive PMG releases as of late. The colors, even though aren’t technically exact copies, look like repeats from many of Pat’s previous palettes. The packaging also is nothing special, just plain red glitter with blown up PMG insignia, The only other palette that equals in mediocrity to this one is the re-released Mothership 4 in Star Wars packaging, a shameless money grab, which didn’t require any creativity from Pat and her team. This palette is an easy pass for me

SSDD/SSDW. EOTS. Most of those acronym letters are bad words. PML has manipulated her following in every way possible. IDK if this Byzantine BS is totally deliberate, as it does not follow a pattern…it seems designed just to obfuscate and confuse. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A CRITICISM OF YOU, CHRISTINE. But, i could not help but notice that PML was willing to replace your broken pan/palette, as PML should. That is only appropriate for the preeminent m/u blogger in the world. Note that there are none available in this or any other galaxy. The Elite are important. We peons who admire her work can GFO. (More bad words.). Frankly, she should remember the Icarus myth and that m/u world’s attention span is about 10 minutes. I admire Christine’s work ethic enormously. Pat’s, not so much. I do not ask that she tone done the FOMO frenzy. I just ask that she make the rules clear and stand behind what her team states. I don’t even ask her to level the playing field. I know better than to ask for environmental responsibility. This is no longer the thrill of the hunt; it’s demeaning.

Kae Avatar

To be fair…a friend that is not in any way “elite” (not a blogger or influencer or known in any realm outside of the real world to her friends and family) received the same palette with a damaged shadow. She reached out to PMG and is receiving a replacement. I think a lot of people are in their feelings (rightfully so) and are automatically on a negative rant about replacements for damaged products assuming that only the special get help. Almost every company has a stock of product that is not part of the retail sale group and are intended for replacement of damaged or lost product. Usually a small percentage but it’s where they pull from to fulfill that segment. It’s not where they turn to when their product sells out normally though so when people get bothered or upset to see that some with damaged product are getting replacements when some that wanted it was unable to get it because it sold out…it’s not a fair argument. I get the frustration 1000% but let’s put that frustration in the right place. I have seen plenty of people during the fiasco get assistance. Maybe not as quickly as desired (consider how many people had problems and be realistic in how quickly you can expect to get a response to a DM you were asked to send in when a lot of others were told to do the same thing. And those that weren’t told to but did it anyway did it too in order to express their frustrations. I’m referring to the most recent Decadence situation though on this part…a little off the main topic but kind of not since it was still ultimately a part of the Star Wars collection). But I noticed a lot of people that were livid that there didn’t get a response within an hour or so and convinced that they were being ignored only to get a response asking for their info later that night or the next day or so. Not a lot has been mentioned about that part but they are being assisted. Everyone may not be able to although I hope that they are.

Trust me….I don’t love the fast and furious releases that brands release and are gone super fast (it’s why I stopped dealing with MAC launches for the most part and finally stopped renewing my pro card. The LE launches used to be insane). And things could have definitely been handled better on the last few product launches…but I also expect craziness during big sales and LE’s (Divine Rose for example but I order through Selfridges to avoid the maybe and didn’t mind the fee for US shipping and of course the huge 75% off on all of the LuxeTrance lipsticks was definitely going to be madness…and Star Wars even if it was going to be the same palette repackaged that was already on wishlists but wanted more just because of the Star Wars connection). Yeah it took 3 weeks to get my lipsticks and there is still one that hasn’t shipped or canceled so no clue. I wasn’t upset but would have appreciated better communication. My red SW palette arrived perfect so no complaints although I honestly didn’t realize people were buying in bulk to resell or I would have ordered at least one more just in case a friend missed out and sell to them at cost because those reseller fees are high and although I don’t blame them for making the money that some are so willing to pay I would gladly save a friend from doing so or be a better friend and remind them something you’re going to want more will be on the horizon and if in the future this rereleases you can get it then…so don’t go spending 4/5/6 times the retail.

Saying ALL OF THAT…I’m definitely burned out on all of the launches period. Not just PMG. So as pretty as this one is I’m not considering it. I going to step back and actually use the product I’ve accumulated over the last 2 months from her and others that I still haven’t had a chance to use. And keep that same energy all the way through Lent at least.

Swoozy Avatar

This is an easy pass. I did get Divine Rose and this has a similar vibe in short form. I also have zero need for any more golds ever in my life. It’s wearable in the office, which is a big plus for me, but after the fiasco of the Star Wars launch and the frantic feel of Divine Rose, I’m sitting this out.

Latika Avatar

I want to love this.. but I bought the 4 pan Rose quad.. I love it so much. I love all of my PMG palettes but I don’t wear Blue eye shadows and stay away from really dark color stories. I missed the Divine Rose Mothership palette… but what I really wish she would produce is ( I know boring to some) a completely neutral palette with creams, champagne, gold/silver shimmer, beige, tans, browns, gold, bronze – something like the old Bobbie Brown sun/surf palette.. I hit pan on every color in that palette…

Swoozy Avatar

I would likely brave the fray for that kind of palette, especially if it were a true neutral or slightly cool. My main make-up need is for the office and it’s fairly conservative for makeup. Her stuff is amazingly long-lasting, so I could justify a big spend on a palette I can wear everyday. As much as I love the mini-Subversive colors, I can only get away with Blue Blood and Synthetica (lightly washed on my lid) at the office.

Lesley Avatar

As someone of Chinese descent, I’m absolutely elated that my favorite makeup brand is coming out with a Lunar/Chinese New Year palette. The colour story just SCREAMS ‘Asian’ in terms of popular makeup tastes in that specific region of the world. These are also all colours that I would absolutely wear daily, so with all my grievances with the brand aside, this is one that I will happily pick up.

Valerie Avatar

I happily picked this up at Selfridges when it became available this week. I love the color story, and agree that it does have that Asian aesthetic vibe which I love so much. The Suqqu kit A+B 2019 holiday release is very similar looking and I was lucky to get it on the second run. I just can’t get enough of these colors, they are so flattering on my skin tone.

“It’s supposed to be an app exclusive, so to purchase it via desktop, add it to your wish list, then go to the wish list, and then move it to your bag.” I’m sorry but I can’t hold back the amusement. Who wrote their code??? How can any personal website has better code than Selfridges ??

Stacy Avatar

Thanks for the tip Christine ❤
I really never bought on sephora’s website because its app functions ok, but selfridges… after divine rose I really don’t want anything to do with them, even pml site is way better at handling things.

Hope B Avatar

Selfridge’s site states that it is sold out, even using the add to wish list, etc. No sign of the mini lip gloss trios anywhere. Do you have a link to the glosses on PMGL’s site, by chance? I love the look of Flesh 6.

Donna Avatar

I counted 7 of this palettes for sale on eBay UK this morning!

BIN over £100++
Bidding £65 at present.

After seeing the swatches it is not for me, too much gold and the reddish shades. I do wish Pat would do a proper matt red shade.

turna Avatar

i checked the availability of the palette, meaning just google search ‘selfridges golden opulence’ and then it will show it on the Selfridges website. If you go to the PML product catalogue on the Selfridges website, it won’t show the palette at all.
Also quantity of products reduced from December 26 from 51 to 46 products in the PML product catalogue.

BTW: Golden opulence is sold out on Selfridges now.

krb Avatar

Phew, I’m glad this doesn’t interest me. Quite frankly I went nuts for the red Star Wars palette (can’t think of name) packaging but realized the colors really don’t excite me at all. I’m going to try very hard to fall down into any more Pat rabbit holes in 2020.

Hope B Avatar

This launch went perfectly. Received the code, maybe even a minute early, depending upon my clock, but the links to “add to cart” were not active until exactly 9 AM ET, as promised. Picked up the cute minis yesterday from Sephora, in bright lipstick tube colors, but a nude-pink and red trio–picked up both.

Today, picked up the Golden Opulence (am I getting the phrasing correctly?) eyeshadow palette (6-pan) and the Red Opulence lip gloss trio. After looking at the Bronze Opulence, decided, wth, why not go ahead and make another purchase of just those. Didn’t buy anything for my female family members this time around. If they want it badly enough, they need to wake up, haha.

Hopefully, everyone will get a chance to have exactly what they desire from the beautiful creations of PMGL. The Divine Rose is probably one of my favorite in the most recent launches. Missed being in NY by a few days, unfortunately.

Last I checked, everything is in stock. Good luck and best wishes to everyone.

Thank you, as always, Christine, for a lovely community site that is filled with people as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Hope your New Year is a great one!
