Round-up: Urban Decay Metallized Vice Lipsticks Overview

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

Urban Decay Metallized Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is supposed to be like the Cream finish, just with added pearl. They’re more like a hybrid between Cream and Sheer Shimmer, as they had more slip and were thinner compared to the Creams, overall. Some shades were very opaque, while others were more semi-sheer to semi-opaque. Only one shade (Big Bang) had more noticeable shimmer, and the rest had finer pearl/shimmer that was often subtler than obvious. The wear ranged from three to six hours with deeper, richer shades (like reds) wearing the longest. The formula was typically lightly hydrating. For more on how the finish compares to other shades, please see this post.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I was eagerly waiting for these so when they dropped I went and swatched all the new ones. My honest opinion is that there are lacking in so many areas.
The Sheer – I just don’t get sheer lipstick especially for some of dark women, it just doesn’t show. I picked up Studded, Trick, and a cream in Bang ( I wanted Wild Fire but it wasn’t in stock and I didn’t want to order online). Trick were gritty, very gritty. It was also drying, I had to reapply Trick so many times at work that I just dug into my work stash of makeup for my Maybelline rescue lipstick! Due to the grittiness of Trick , I didn’t try on Studded (other than the store swatching) or even take it out of the package. Instead I took the two metallized back and ended up with Manic from the line which is a matte (i think) and gorgeous color. I kept Bang and instead of another Vice I got my fav lip gloss ever, Anastasia in the color Tara. This was a disappointing line to me. Lots of colors that will work on various skin tones so that’s good. In all I own about 6 UD lipsticks and love them all.

I haven’t been able to find Sancho at any Sephora and it isn’t listed on their website. Is it exclusive to another store?

Hi Christine – Just want to take a moment to say thank you for everything that you do. I’m currently looking for a Vice lipstick but too lazy to drag my butt in store, and I don’t know what I would do without your round up posts (and of course, the hours that went in to every swatch, overview and comparison). Seriously thank you – your blog is a resource I know I could never do without!!
