  2. What didn’t impress you?
  3. Did you return anything you purchase?

March favorites: Chanel Rouge Allure Incantevole is at the very top of my list, followed by Natasha Denona Aeris. I finally started making some purchases this month after a period of reflecting on what I most wanted. I initially had many items on my list, but I had to narrow it down due to only having one face and a limited amount of money to spend. What I chose: Pat McGrath Decadence, Huda Desert Rose, Natasha Denona Aeris, Viseart Tryst, Chanel Incantevole, and Clinique’s Lash Power.

I am working with Decadence, Desert Rose and Tryst. So far none of them are a “love” for me. Pat McGrath’s formula is outstanding but this particular palette did not contain colors I gravitate towards and it needs other matte eye shadows to compliment it. (Also, despite the intense color payoff, the Pat McGrath formula is sheer, does not last for more than five hours on my lids even with primer, and has a tendency to travel a bit, almost like the feathering of lipstick where the edges become blurred.) The quality of Tryst is certainly very good, I’m just not sure yet about the colors with my skin tone (medium warm). I got stopped three times the first day I wore a purple look with the Huda palette, which is a good sign, but will have to play with it some more before I know how I really feel about it.

What didn’t impress me and will be going back is Bobbi Brown’s Skin Longwear Weightless Foundation. I knew it likely wouldn’t measure up to my GA Luminous Silk or LANCOME Teint Idole Ultra (those are tough acts to follow), but I am wanting to try something new just for the fun of it and thought I would give this one a go. It isn’t a bad foundation but Luminous Silk and Teint Idole Ultra are outstanding and this by comparison is just okay.

What I have resisted: The Too Faced Festival Palette, the three Pat McGrath little palettes, Natasha Denona’s big cheek palettes and Tropic eyeshadow palette, Chanel spring eyeshadow quad in Premiere Inclosion, Chanel Balm and Powder lip duo in Rosso Pompeiano, Fenty foundation, Anastasia’s Amrezy highlighter, the new NARS blush palettes, Too Faced Just Peachy Palette, Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette, and the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty items.

What were your favorites from the last month? Missha BB Cream (mixed with Urban Decay One and Done), Maybelline Better Skin Concealer, Viseart Theory Palette in Amethyst, Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer, Becca Blush in Flowerchild, Pixi Gossimer Glow Duo in Delicate Dew, L’Oreal Lash Paradise Masara

What didn’t impress you? I caved (against my better judgement) and bough the Viseart Tryst Palette… It’s pretty, but I wasn’t really impressed with the shimmers especially. They were oddly powdery and not as shimmery as I had hoped they would be.

Did you return anything you purchase? No, but I am debating on returning the Tryst.

Or successfully resist temptation? I’ve been resisting temptation on the ABH Soft Glam palette… It’s so pretty!

I have heard the complaint about Tryst not being shimmery enough from some YT reviewers so it is not your imagination. The colors seem closer to satin in my view. Given my wrinkly eyelids, the finish actually works well for me, but I sure didn’t buy the palette with that in mind.

Katie Avatar

I am definitely finding Tryst to be less shimmery than Golden Hour. Still really like the color scheme, but it’s not my favorite Viseart palette.

What were your favorites from the last month?

Sonia G Crease One eyeshadow brush
All my eyeshadows, especially my Viseart palettes
Marc Jacobs Tan-tastic bronzer
My simplehuman mirror

What didn’t impress you?

Some of the shades in Natasha Denona Tropic. Just not the easiest palette to work with in general.

Did you return anything you purchase?

No. I’m not a big returner.

Or successfully resist temptation?

No to that, too. Lol. I just placed a Beautylish order for more eyeshadow (Jouer Skinny Dip).

What were your favorites from the last month? Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Mademoiselle. An expensive lipstick purchase, but I absolutely adore it, so it was worth it. This is a lipstick I keep in my purse at all times. Also Marc Jacobs Highliner. It actually stays put on my waterline…shocking!

What didn’t impress you? MAC Vegas Volt and Kinda Sexy lipsticks. 🙁 They’re very patchy on my lips and I can’t figure out why. I don’t have this problem with any other lipstick by MAC (and I have 30+ of them) or other brands. I exfoliate, moisturize, etc. I’ve tried different primers. Nothing helps. If anyone has advice, please help!

Did you return anything you purchased? No

Or successfully resisted temptation? My temptations have not been of the makeup variety this past month, so I haven’t needed much resistance there. However, I’m currently on a perfume binge and bought two today, (but at least it was with a gift card and not out of my bank account…lol).

What were your favorites from the last month? Lise Watier Multi-Fini powder foundation, MAC Into the Pink blush (forcing myself to leave Dior aside for some of the time), MAC Capricious lipstick (I’m currently looking for a longer-wearing dupe and think Shiseido has one)
What didn’t impress you? can’t think of anything
Did you return anything you purchase? nope
Or successfully resist temptation? well, part of me wanted to buy up the few remaining Sephora shadows that were still left behind in-store but I realized that was just silly (but I feel so sad about them being phased out and left behind….kinda reminds of that Ikea “you feel sad for the lamp” commercial from some years ago)

March favorites: My Dior LE Eye Quint in 337 Rise, my Dior Snow blushes in 02 and 03, Chanel Harmony of Powders, Fenty Beauty Stunna Lipstick and the Drunk Elephant TLC Sakura Baby Facial.

What didn’t impress: MAC Padma Lakshmi eye shadow quads and lipsticks. The eye shadow quads did not translate to my eyes as they appeared in the pan. The green shade was barely green enough to tell it was green. It read much more like a grey and the blue shade was straight up lavender on me. I don’t mind how either shade looked but I was really looking for the green and blue. Both of the lipsticks I purchased were both much more brown based than they appeared in the tube and on other people when I saw them used on YT. I will use them but not my favorites.

No returns.

Resisted: So far I am still resisting buying the Two Faced Festival palette. I did cave and buy two of the lipsticks, though. I looked at the palette when I was in Spokane and came so close to picking it up but wasn’t sure how much I would actually use the bright shades so decided to wait. They swatched lovely and maybe if there is anything left when Sephora VIB sale starts I will consider picking it up. I am not sure what day the sale starts but should be anytime now.

What were your favorites from the last month? Trieste Hair Oil beats Verb Ghost Oil IMHO.
What didn’t impress you? Tsurugi Clay Pore Peeling Mask: supposed to exfoliate but no “scrubbies” in it. Product was watery and left a weird dry feeling.
Did you return anything you purchase? Yes, returned a MAC shadow palette that was “off”. It looked opened and used, I swore it was a fake as the shades weren’t consistent to other palettes they had on hand.
Or successfully resist temptation? I resisted the YSL full face compact I’m dreaming off….it’s SO pretty.

What were your favorites from the last month? Viseart Tryst and ND 5 palette in 02.

What didn’t impress you? Viseart Paris Nudes. They’re lovely but everything I do just ends up looking the same. I need to experiment pairing it with other palettes.

Did you return anything you purchase? No, can’t return makeup or beauty products in New Zealand.

Or successfully resist temptation? Resist? What does that word even mean?! 😉

What were your favorites from the last month? Carmax lip balm, MAC Huggable lipstick in Rich Marron, NYX Butter lipstick in Root Beer Float, Fashion Fair pressed powder in Pecan, MAC Fix +, and Supergoop sunscreen.

What didn’t impress you? Didn’t really try anything new this past month

Did you return anything you purchase? Yes, Iman pressed powder in Clay Medium Dark which was visibility too light without even needing to open the package; very difficult since I’m ordering online and can’t test out in person.

Or successfully resist temptation? I’ve put myself on a very strict budget so I’ve had the force with me and resisted temptation

1. What were your favorites from the last month?
Happy to say I have several. For the face: Tarte ROTS foundation, Burberry Velvet Foundation, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish micro powder, KVD lock it foundation & concelear brushes & ABH Amrezy highlighter ( I swoon over it). Eyes KVD Metal Crush shadow in Thunderstruck is perfect inner corner highlight and Danzing is a gorgeous purple and the Tarte mermaid palette is so fun and pretty. My daughter and I are both using it constantly.

2. What didn’t impress you?
Cover FX setting powder, IT Cosmetics foundation brush (glad I only paid half price when I saw the size), KVD lock it powder brush (not the precision brush) – can’t quite get it to work for me

3. Did you return anything you purchase?
Cover FX setting powder

4. Or successfully resist temptation?
Natasha Denona Lila palette

Nope I don’t do this..

Or successfully resist temptation?
I resisted the nars highlight palette

What were your favorites from the last month?
bareMinerals The Wild Thing – haven’t really used it for awhile, but I just love Elitist – the browny shade and I find that the other colours in this little quad – mint, blue and chartreuse work well with a lot of my summer outfits.
I still love Naked 1 and have used the Clarins 5 pan neutrals as well
Lorac Pro Metals
Guerlain’s Les Gris
UD’s Vice 2
Lipsticks – all of my ginger peach shades as well as copper bronze, reds and berries.

What didn’t impress you?
Still not impressed with the plethora of very warm toned eyeshadows around, but really I don’t need any more.

Did you return anything you purchase?
No

Or successfully resist temptation?
Yes, the Smashbox Smokey Cover eye palette and the Chanel Neapolis New City palette. Le Sigh!

What didn’t impress you? Natasha Denona Tropic palette

Did you return anything you purchase? Natasha Denona Tropic palette. I don’t really like this formula compared to her older ones

Or successfully resist temptation? Most of the Ulta 21 days of beauty sales. I only picked up the Brow wiz and the Mario Badesccu spray

I’m way late filling this out, but what the heck:

What were your favorites from the last month? MeeshaLou Witch Craft Palette; NARS Wanted Vol I Wanted Cheek Palette; Apocalyptic Beauty Blush in Till the End; Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Divine; Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronze and Butter Blush in Plum Rose.

What didn’t impress you? That I bought: The packaging on the UD Balktalk Palette. The mirror set-up is extremely stupid and annoying. I like the makeup itself, though.

That I didn’t buy: Tom Ford Extreme Shadows; CP Vacation Mode Palette; UD Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Glosses (They got rid of Revolution glosses for those sheer things?! Why?!).

Did you return anything you purchased? No

Or successfully resist temptation? Tarte Be a Mermaid & Make Waves Palette; Too Faced Natural Face Palette
