Bite Beauty Kohlrabi & Lotus Root Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Kohlrabi
Bite Beauty Kohlrabi Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a deep purple with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. It had good pigmentation, but it wasn’t opaque in a single layer, and I had a difficult time trying to build it up with it starting to feel heavy. The consistency was smooth but a bit thinner with more slip compared to other shades in the line-up. The color could have applied more evenly, though it did not sit in my lip l ines. It lasted for five and a half hours and was moisturizing while worn.
P.S. — My tube was labeled “Kholrabi,” but Bite confirmed it is supposed to say “Kohlrabi” and have taken my batch number to look into it.

The Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick is supposed to be "moisture-rich, high-pigment" in a "liquified" consistency that has a "creamy, comfortable application." It's a lightweight, fluid consistency that was neither runny nor thick on the lips. It does not dry down and feels mostly like a liquid-form of a lipstick (and not so much like a gloss). The majority of the range was incredibly pigmented and spread evenly across the lips. Some shades had a bit of color that sat in my lip lines, which was noticeable from a normal viewing distance with a few but not all. It had a lightly tacky feel on the lips, which helped to adhere as none of the shades I have tested have feathered on me. The formula was lightly hydrating, wore for four to seven hours, and had a light, herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste.
If you've been following Bite for awhile, you might remember the Cashmere Lip Creams from a few years ago, which were also a liquid formula. Unfortunately, I had a couple leak on me and ended up tossing all of them out of fear, so I couldn't do a true comparison, but from my memory, it was slightly thicker and less tacky while both had a more natural shine after initial application.

Lotus Root
Bite Beauty Lotus Root Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a bright, bubblegum pink with cool, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. The color payoff was fantastic, and the texture was smooth, creamy without being heavy, and easy to spread across my lips with even coverage. It applied well and there was just a slight amount of product in my deeper lip lines, but it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The color wore well for five hours and was hydrating over time.

Oh, I love Kholrabi!
Read your piece about Igneous on Dear Darkling, having first sussed your last name in a comment on Phyrra. Nice prose, young lady. I might have to get the Divine socks, as the palette disappointed me so.
Kholrabi looks like concord grape jam! It’s absolutely yummy and rich looking as a color! However, the consistency of the actual product has me feeling very nervous, though.
Lovely contrasting shades and a beautiful finish.
Hi Christine! I appreciate your work so much, yet this is what I post a comment about: I think it is Kohlrabi, not Kholrabi! Kohlrabi is a vegetable, a kind of cabbage that grows in the earth (not quite a root vegetable, but still fitting the theme of the unearthed collection). I haven’t been that excited about a lipstick collection in ages by the way, these seem to be so unique, wearable and amazingly formulated at the same time!
Hey! So that’s what it is listed on Sephora, but on the actual tube of the product, the label says “Kholrabi,” which is what I went with! I definitely understood that it was named after a vegetable based on what the brand wrote about the collection, but I typed it exactly as they had it on the box/tube (I just checked and asked my husband to read the label, too, in case I’m just a complete moron and can’t even read right, lol).
Haha, I already suspected that it might be spelled that way on the tube, but I couldn’t find a picture of it. But why is it spelled that way? It could be a a reference to eye khols, because it is a blackened purple, but none of the other shade names are wordplays. And it’s also spelled Kohlrabi in the offcial info video on the Sephora website… hmm, I guess it remains a mystery!
Bite confirmed this morning to me that it is supposed to be kohlrabi, so they’re looking into my batch and relaying the info to QC.
Kohlrabi is gorgeous.
