Liaison

Viseart Liaison 9-Pan Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.49 oz.) is a new, permanent palette that launches exclusively at Beautylish in February. The metallics in the palette are much more of a bright, shiny finish with slightly larger particles of shimmer but don’t seem quite as large as typical sparkle (and thankfully, fallout isn’t an issue), and they felt a bit different compared to past Viseart shimmers (a little “richer” — denser, more intense, slightly thicker). The majority of the eyeshadows had semi-opaque to opaque color payoff, were blendable and easy enough to use, and lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

Ingredients

Mica, Talc, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Zinc Stearate, Sodium Benzoate, potassium Sorbate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Palmitic Acid, Aluminia, Water. (+/- May contain: Tin Oxide CI 77861,Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77491/77492/77499, Red 40 CI 16035, Carmin CI 75470, Black 2 CI 77266).

Embrace

Embrace is a soft mauve with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, velvety consistency that was on the more powdery side in the pan. The eyeshadow blended out well on my skin but had a tendency to diffuse a little too readily so I had to work with very small brushes to get precision placement. It wore well for eight hours on me before it started to fade.

Formula Overview

-

The eyeshadow formula is supposed to be "pigment[ed]" with "smooth and even application" that is "long-lasting." The matte shades are typically semi-opaque to opaque but buildable with soft, velvety textures that can sometimes be a little powdery or slightly firm, depending on the shade. I find that the mattes are often best suited to someone who likes control over pigmentation and may prefer to build up color; they regularly perform better in practice than just swatched on the arm as well.

The shimmer shades range from satin to metallic, and the more metallic shades tend to feel creamier to the touch, while the satin ones have a fine pearl to them that looks almost melted on the lid once blended out. Both the mattes and shimmers are blendable and easy to work with. Most of Viseart's eyeshadows wear between seven and nine hours on me.

Blushing

Blushing is a soft, light-medium taupe with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a soft, silky consistency that had a touch of powderiness in the pan but applied well to bare skin. The color payoff was opaque in a single layer and was easy to diffuse along the edges. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Fusion

Fusion is a muted, medium plum with warmer undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had medium, buildable color payoff that applied evenly and blended out easily on my skin. The texture was soft with some dustiness in the pan, and I did have slight fallout when I worked with it (likely due to trying to build it up). It lasted for just over eight hours on me before it started to fade noticeably.

Bisous

Bisous is a bright, light-medium mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer with a slightly denser consistency that wasn’t too powdery and had good adherence to my skin. It applied evenly to bare skin, though I found it was easiest to work with by pressing onto an area first, and blended out nicely along the edges. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Tingle

Tingle is a bright silver with subtle, cool, bluish undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It seemed to look almost like a silvery-aqua hue at times, though it primarily read “silver” to my eye when worn on my eye. The texture was denser, lightly creamy, and smooth to the touch, despite having a high-shine, lightly sparky finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which seemed to become opaque as I blended the product onto my skin. This shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours before I noticed any fading.

Shiver

Shiver is a medium mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It had good color payoff, though it needed about half of a layer more to get full coverage out of it. If used with a dampened brush, it was opaque in one layer. The consistency was soft, slightly more loosely-pressed with a little bit of excess product kicked up in the pan. It applied best with a patting and pressing motion onto my lid or else I had slight fallout if I used more feathery/sweeping motions. This shade lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before fading a touch.

Haze

Haze is a bright, medium lavender with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one layer, which I didn’t find to be as buildable as other Viseart mattes (which I tend to find are very buildable) on bare skin, though it applied and built up well over primer. The consistency was soft, slightly powdery in the pan, but very finely-milled and blendable. It wore nicely for eight hours on me before it started to fade.

Ecstacy

Ecstacy is a bright, medium purple with subtle, cool undertones and flecks of multi-colored very fine sparkle and shimmer that gave it a shiny, metallic finish. It had richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy consitsency that was dense without being thick or too stiff to work with in the pan. The color applied well to my lid and blended out easily along the edges without losing its intensity. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me with just a smidgen of fallout over time.

Falling

Falling is a blackened, bluish-purple with strong, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. In reality, it looked like a matte finish when applied to my lid, but it had very faint shimmer strewn throughout, which seems to help the powder blend out better. The pigmentation was fantastic, while the eyeshadow felt soft and smooth to the touch, and it blended out beautifully (impressive given this type of hue). It also retained its purplish-hue rather than appearing black as some of these inky shades can. This shade stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a touch.

How does it compare in your mind to the other palettes like this one (e.g., Tryst, Libertine, etc.)? (You may not remember…cause I know you review a lot.)

Deborah S. Avatar

This is such a lovely purple palette. When I first saw swatches I was unhappy about the inclusion of what I thought would be another deep black/purple that would read black on the lid and which I would never use. Also, there was already a deep purple. I would have preferred another transition shade or a brow bone shade. After reading your review I am surprised about the shade actually reading purple. It makes the palette more attractive to me although I would still need to pull in another palette. I think this is a lovely palette and for someone who doesn’t already have a million purples, (most of which are not good), this is a good option.

Genevieve Avatar

Wow – this turned out much better than I thought it would. It’s a beautifully toned pinkish/purple palette. The shades can either be bright or subtle. And I think you could use some of these shades with other palettes too. Shiver and Bisous are really gorgeous colours.
Beautiful eye look Christine.

Jessica Avatar

This is the first thing that has caught my interest in a good while. I really like this a lot, I also only have 1 or 2 dupes, so this will go on my wish list. Since it’s permanent and I am on a low-buy I won’t rush to get it, but it will definitely be in the back of my mind of things to get sometime this year.

Alison Avatar

Stunning eye look. I love the silvery halo inner eye with the darkened outer crease. Falling is a stunning shade. Its dupe is one of my fave colors from Pro 2. If the 9 pans were interchangeable I could see removing the top row of Pro 2 and replacing it with these pans. I was ready to pass, but at this point, I may wait for a sale or something.

kjh Avatar

Definite maybe. Certainly in my current slice of the color wheel pie. Not overduped, but lots of coordinating and allied shades live here already. Hope Beautylish gets Coy at some later date, too. Great look, as always. This is going to be mega popular. Let’s hope for a green niner, too. Monochrome has officially hit. Like.

Cara Avatar

I’m a Viseart junkie and this will be mine! I told the owner, Anastasia, on IG that I swear she made this palette just for me because I love cool tones and purples specifically. This is beautiful and will be a great palette to pair with my most used, the Cool Mattes 2!

Helene Avatar

I didn’t think I’d like this one, but I was wrong! I mean, I love purples, but I wasn’t sure about the top row, thinking it wouldn’t look good with the other shades, I don’t know why I imagined that, to be honest, a trick of the mind, perhaps to keep me at a very low low-buy. 🙂
I can dupe most of the colours, but I’d have to use 2 or 3 palettes and some singles. I might buy this later this year. It’s on the wishlist so I’ll not forget.

Marieke Avatar

Ok, I’m going to get this one! I promised myself that I wasn’t going to get it if you’d give it lower than B+, so with the rating you gave it, I’m allowing myself another purple palette. I love it.

Kimberly Avatar

I’m with Genevieve. This turned out much better than I expected. When I received a message about getting it during pre-sale I thought from looking at it that it was an easy pass. Now that I’ve read these reviews and have seen these amazing eye looks done with it, I’m going to get it. True, I can dupe every one of them but it’s much easier when they’re all together and not spread across 5-6 palettes. Thanks Christine!
