MAC Nutcracker Sweet Lipsticks
MAC Flamboyish Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium magenta pink with cool, blue undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage with a fairly smooth, thinner texture that tended to emphasize the texture of my lips just slightly. It was applied evenly and lasted for hours–it was still going strong after six hours and left a stain behind when I removed it. The formula was slightly drying. KVD Beauty Crush (LE, $21.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Smoked Rose (LE, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). NYX Shocking Pink (P, $6.00) is lighter (95% similar). Dior Ultra Loud (679) (P, $37.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). KVD Beauty Backstage Bambi (P, $20.00) is darker, less glossy (95% similar). MAC Kingdom of Sweets Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a pale, milky pink with a strong, white base and subtle, cool undertones paired with a natural finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff, which applied more evenly than I anticipated, as these milkier shades tend to look very streaky. I had just a touch of color pull into lip lines, but it was barely noticeable and didn’t worsen much more over time. The consistency was lightly creamy with moderate slip and was comfortable to wear. It wore for three and a half hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. Smashbox Obvi (P, $21.00) is darker (95% similar). L'Oreal Dewey Petal (P, $9.99) is darker (90% similar). MAC Tease Me (P, $20.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Rose Lily (LE, $19.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). MAC Be Fabulous (P, $25.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Leap of Delight Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with warmer, pink udnertones and a satin finish. The consistency was lightly creamy and glided on without tugging on the lips, but it wasn’t slippery, so it didn’t slide around on the lips easily. It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on evenly and left behind a stain after I wore it for six hours. Make Up For Ever M502 (DC, $22.00) is glossier (95% similar). MAC Potent Fig (LE, $19.00) is glossier (90% similar). NARS Kirat (P, $34.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Punk Couture (P, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Saucy Little Darling Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium pink with warm undertones and a natural finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied with smooth, even color. The consistency had light slip so that it glided on without tugging on the lips but didn’t slide or feather on me. I found the light sheen and emollient consistency to be more flattering on lips, as it didn’t emphasize my lip lines or settle into them. This shade stayed on nicely for five and a half hours and was a touch hydrating. Tom Ford Beauty Flamingo (P, $57.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Love at First Bite (LE, $19.00)(95% similar). Laura Mercier Rose Ultimate (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). Urban Decay Checkmate (DC, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC So Good For You Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark red with strong, cool, pink undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff, though it wasn’t fully opaque; it had an even translucency to it so that it looked rich and bold, but a hint of the natural lip color still came through. The texture was firmer, a little velvety in the tube, but it took more pressure to apply and tugged on the lips as I worked it across my lips. It felt thinner, somewhat clingy, and overall, moderately drying over time, but it lasted for over six hours and left a strong stain behind. MAC Pomegranate (LE, $25.00) is lighter (95% similar). NYX Eden (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (95% similar). Tarte Cheerleader (P, $20.00) is less glossy (95% similar). NYX Bloody Mary (P, $6.00) is lighter (95% similar). Soooo very candy sweet!
Haha!
Love the look you created with the eyes, earrings, and lippies! Totally feeling the spirit of this collection.
Thank you, Raeanne! 🙂
Saucy Little Darling?
It’s a pretty one!
Wow, so impressed a purple lipstick ( Leap of Delight) scored an A!! Yay! I’m checking my stash for dupes, and if nothing, will be on my buy list
I like how it is dark but not super dark!
Some shades are interesting but I’m not feeling them as we go into late fall/winter. I have dupes for the bright shades and a preference for a brighter plum, so this is a pass for me.
I can understand that, Tracey! They aren’t traditional holiday shades.
I like Leap of Delight! It looks like it’s pretty similar to the Liptensity lipstick in Hellebore, though…

Thanks for the link, Christine! I guess there is a little bit of a difference, at least for purple lipstick lovers! I actually might like Leap of Delight better… even though I bought Hellebore after the MUA put it on me at the Nordstrom beauty trend event, lol.
The quality of these is very consistently good! Nice surprise there! Leap Of Delight and Saucy Little Miss are my favorites. I love how deep and rich this purple is, and without all the usual issues that tend to plague deep purple lipsticks. And Saucy Little Miss looks great for later on, in springtime. Leap Of Delight is the one I might have to grab!
The purple definitely seemed darker than most purples we have seen – but not as dark as say, Smoked Purple.
*Saucy Little Darling…. yikes, I can’t believe I kept calling it something else! ?
I’m glade to see these are doing fell! It’s a pass for me only because I’m on a tight budget and I own dupes.
Yay for dupes 🙂
So good for you Looks great with your eye look !
Flamboyish and saucy little darling are still on my wishlist.
Thank you, Kylie!
So good for you is very nice, I’m going to get Bite Sour Cherry duo so it’s probably not essential to me.
Sour Cherry is a good one!
Well done, MAC!
They managed to make a white based pink look good! I find that happens so rarely. Not that it’s a colour for me, but I still admire it.
All the others are ones I like for myself, I do have dupes for So Good for You, so I can ignore that when these hit the counters. Saucy Little Darling is a maybe, Leap of Delight is a must and Flamboyish a big want.
Can you tell I really like this part of the holiday LE’s 🙂
They did! I was surprised since they are so often hard to apply well.
I really like So Good for You which is typical of my lipstick preferences but I have ordered Sour Cherry so don’t think I need it. I will see when I actually go to town to swatch.
An ultra-light pink AND a purple lipstick with good ratings? Wow!!
Gorgeous shades, especially Saucy Little Darling. Kingdom of Sweets is oddly appealing for such a white-based, pale pink. I’m not sure why I like it more than other, similar shades, but I do.
I love how Saucy Little Darling looks with this eye look.
I was so disappointed with the other collections this year (like the star trek one). But I love the christmas collection that they created and I’m so happy that they also have a pretty packaging 🙂
Yay! I’m glad this one has perked you up!
Christine, How would you compare Flamboyish to MAC Show Orchid or Kat Von D Sexer? They sort of look like a mix of the 2, as swatches/photographed… Absolutely gorgeous!

Because I can be REALLY late on getting back to comments sometimes, you can actually compare any two shades that I’ve swatched here: http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery#sbs
You look great in all of them. I personally loved the flamboyish and the saucy little darling colours, they look so flattering. By any chance is their carmine in those lip products?
I’m not sure!
