Chanel Rouge Troublant Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Colour
Chanel Rouge Troublant Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Colour ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark pinky-coral with warm undertones and a very subtle pearl that gave it more of a satin finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied evenly, but some of the color sat in lip lines and emphasized them. The consistency was thinner and clung more noticeably, so I don’t think it was the most flattering finish overall. This shade lasted for five and a half hours and was lightly drying over time.
Chanel Rouge Rebelle Rouge Allure Lip Colour ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium red with neutral-to-warm undertones and fine pearl. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which applied evenly and smoothly without tugging on the lips. The consistency was thin, lightweight, comfortable to wear, and felt lightly hdyrating. This shade wore for five hours on me and left behind a subtle stain.
Chanel Rouge Angelique Rouge Allure Lip Colour ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium rosy brown with warm undertones and a satin finish. It was nearly opaque in pigmentation, but the consistency was heavier and a touch thicker than most of the Rouge Allure range–you can even see how it had less sheen and luminosity in its finish. There was some color that pulled into lip lines, but the color was close enough to my natural lip color that it wasn’t as noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The color wore well for four hours and was lightly hydrating.

Rebelle is pretty on you!
Thank you, Katherine!
Rouge Angelique #174 is just my type of shade. Worth look at and trying it.
I hope you can check it out, Lily!
I really like Angelique! Looks like it could be a lovely MLBB shade.
I totally agree! 🙂
Rouge Troublant is my kind of red! Guess I’m a trouble maker 😉
LOL!
None of these is calling my name! For some reason that I haven’t fathomed, Chanel products usually don’t… I would love to understand better how branding works, because I’m sure that must have something to do with it!
It is interesting how that works (or doesn’t) when it comes to branding!
Yes, I would love to actually understand it! I’ve been doing some reading about it. I think my problem might be that my mind tends to make things too complicated, and a good brand message is strong, clear, and simple. I think I keep looking for nuances and trying to analyze.
I think I think of ‘Chanel’ and ‘Tom Ford’ as both just ‘luxury brands’, but that must not be the case, because Tom Ford products usually at least get me a bit curious, and I actually own several TF lipsticks, while Chanel products tend to leave me feeling mildly positive but not enough to pursue… it might be different if I lived near more accessible counters of both brands and could really play with the products.
It can be anything from the packaging colors – e.g. Chanel is a glossy black with gold accents vs. Tom Ford is more of a bronze with gold accents (though also white packaging), or maybe it’s the textures or campaign imagery? They are definitely both luxury/designer brands but give off different “vibes” I guess!
In a way, Chanel reminds me of “classic, sophisticated, older” whereas Tom Ford comes off a bit more “classic with an edge” – a little more playful, a little edgier but not truly edgy by any means.
lol, Christine, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head! I think my look tends toward tomboy-classic-with-a-bit-of-an-edge-but-still-approachable. In other words, most often in jeans or a denim dress or skirt, but looking fairly put-together/polished (not running around in the usual yoga pants, baggy T-shirt, and flip-flops, IOW), maybe wearing bright yellow sneakers or dark blue lipstick or something else a bit distinctive — but I’m still the person strangers choose to stop and ask for directions, every time 🙂
I think I don’t have enough ‘sophisticated’ in me for Chanel, and rebel against the ‘older’, even though I am 😉
Actually, I think all 3 look quite nice! Especially for “everyday” type shades as opposed to Chanal’s more typically glam shades. That sheer soft red, Rouge Rebelle, looks perfect for a less potent, yet still noticeably red shade of red.
They are nice colors!
Those look very spring like! Are they new? Rebelle Rouge is quite fetching.
They are new! 🙂
Rebelle is very pretty. They all are, to be honest, but that’s the one I’d go for.
Great pick, Helene!
I think these are all pretty but my very pigmented lips would not mix well with these shades. So, an easy pass for me.
