Best New Makeup Formulas | 2020

Going through the new formulas released in 2020 (not just new-to-me but that I recall launching in 2020!), there were still plenty of new formulas that launched and made permanent.

I’m so glad there’s a high-quality, more mid-end cream blush/bronzer formula available with the Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Blushes/Bronzers.  I hope we’ll see highlighters and bronzer/contour extensions over the next year. MAC Powder Kiss Eyeshadow was a winner, and it would be amazing to see more shades released in this formula going forward.

While we’re still waiting on an Amuse Bouche replacement, Bite Beauty’s Power Move Lip Crayons still delivered on comfortable, pigmented color.  Pat McGrath’s OpuLUST Glosses were a formula I reached for and effectively replaced the discontinued Bite shimmery glosses for me.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I’m excited to try Fenty’s cream cheek products. They’re made without silicones (yay!!) and I picked up the holiday set on Sephora’s extra 20% off sale.

Also just excited in general to see more high-quality cream complexion products coming out. It means there (hopefully) will be more thought put in to colors and formula. I wear almost exclusively cream products on my super dry skin and have very little to choose from as far as flattering colors.

I’m surprised you like the new Becca Ignite highlighters. They’re so greasy and stinky! (having said that, I am keeping the one I purchased and intend to use it)

I’m really interested in Rituel de Fille’s cream products, but finding reviews and color-balanced pics has been incredibly difficult. After purchasing one of their products based off of marketing photos I’m somewhat disappointed. Serves me right for not finding real photos online I suppose. I hope you consider adding them to your reviews if you think others would find it helpful too.

It’s great to see that even through the pandemic, brands were able flex their creative muscles and bring out some fabulous new products.
I think the Fenty blushes are a hit and I like Lethal’s Nectar blush. SG’s cream shadows are beautiful too.
It was disappointing that there weren’t many new lipstick formulas going, but I guess with the masking situation that would have put a few brands off.
Thank you for reviewing these Christine and introducing them to us.

Lots of cream products! I don’t tend to use that many cream products as they tend to dry out on me very fast, maybe when I finish my powder products I’ll give a cream one a try. I have drier skin so they should be good for my skin, I don’t have any issues with using powder on my drier skin though, but that is probably the way I apply it.
