New Must-Have Beauty Products | 2020

Every year, I like to go through my vanity drawers, which is where I keep some “everyday” kind of products; they’re a mix of cheek colors, lip products, and complexion products that I really love and let myself reach for occasionally (either to wear after testing new products for the day or to wear in a set of photos when a new product doesn’t work), and do a soft reset. This means taking some favorites from the past year and putting them into those vanity drawers, which also means taking some past favorites out of those drawers!

Here are the products that I’m making room for and making more accessible to reuse in 2021…

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I just love your end of year round-ups! Hope they didn’t keep you from enjoying the holidays, you deserve a break!

This post made me realized how few new products I tried this year… and most likely none would make it to a favorites list. 😅

All excellent picks, Christine! I’ve got several of the above on my WL.
My own new must-have products have got to be: ND Glam and CT Bejeweled e/s palettes, MAC Would Rather Lounge and Hey Dad, Pizza Lipglass, also Siempre Selena Retro Matte Lipstick. And PML Divine Rose II Mothership, Lavish Luxetrance Lipstick, and Nude Venus Divinyl. As of yesterday, Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream in Cookie Jar, too!

My new must haves for 2021 include:
Maybelline’s Mauve for Me lipstick and I would like to get some the Sephora lipstories lipsticks that have come out in the States, but alas are not available here – like Auburn and Autumn Blaze.
ND Glam, PMG’s Sublime Mini and Lapis Luxury are a couple of eye palettes that I find I am reaching for and will use a lot of this year.
I am still interested in PMG’s Interstellar Icon quad (except for the price – $105 here) and Viseart’s Praline quad as well as some new CT quads that are coming out.

I haven’t purchased a huge amount of makeup this year but two that have earned space on my “easy to get at” shelves are the 2 Dior 5 pan palettes I purchased – Jungle and New Look. I knew, after reading your reviews, that they were worth the outrageous prices (okay, maybe not quite) and that I would really enjoy using them. I was a bit surprised they weren’t on your “must have” list, to be honest. I found UD Stray Dog (which I think they’ve discontinued) for next to nothing at Winners and it too has become a favourite with me, getting lots of use and making for a quick, easy and flattering eye in seconds flat.
