Fall in Love
MAC Fall in Love Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a brighter, deep pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. Formula Overview
$20.00/0.05 oz. - $400.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "pillow-soft, matte colour" that is "highly blendable" with "unbelievable slip" that has "stay-true colour" that doesn't fade, crease, or dry out the lids. The majority of the shades were pigmented, though a few were more semi-opaque and buildable.
The texture was soft, smooth, and slightly powdery in the pan--softer and more yielding than the standard MAC matte eyeshadow--but had more glide for better adhesion and blendability on bare skin. The eyeshadows stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.
They're thinner and a bit more powdery than the long-discontinued Matte2 formula, though it was more like that finish than the current, matte finish in the brand's permament range of eyeshadows. They were easier and more forgiving to work with than a lot of MAC's eyeshadows, so they were improved and a nice addition to the brand's range (they're also available as pan-only for less).

Werk Werk Werk
MAC Werk Werk Werk Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a brighter, medium red with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage that adhered well to bare skin as the color applied evenly and blended out well along the edges without causing it to lose its intensity or coverage.
The consistency was soft, smooth, and more velvety without being dense–it was like a hybrid between a firmer matte and a very powdery matte with better slip and adhesion. There were signs of fading present after eight hours of wear.

Ripened
MAC Ripened Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a dusty, medium-dark rosy mauve with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff but was more prone to sheering out, so I had to build up the coverage with a second or third layer for fuller coverage.
The texture was soft, lightly powdery in the pan, but it blended out with and built up well, which made it easy to work with. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Lens Blur
MAC Lens Blur Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deeper berry with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a soft consistency that was lightly powdery but felt more emollient, almost velvety to the touch but not as dense as I’d expect.
The eyeshadow applied well to my lid as the color went on evenly and blended out with little effort along the edges. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

Give a Glam
MAC Give a Glam Powder Kiss Soft Matte Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep brown with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It was intensely pigmented with a soft, smooth texture that felt more velvety and had a definite glide to it–not powdery at all but not dense either–that was easy to work with.
The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges without sheering out the product (unless I wanted to do that!). It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading slightly.

I do like Give a Glam (clever name) but not any of the others (those red tones AGAIN!). Christine, how would you say these mattes stack up, generally, against the now defunct Matte2 shadows in terms of quality (I realize it’s hard to say as within each finish, there can be such a range of performance). But overall, would you say these are better? Worse? Same?
I was curious about how these would compare to the Matte2 formula too!
Christine noted in the formula overview below regarding the similarity.
They’re thinner and a bit more powdery than the long-discontinued Matte2 formula, though it was more like that finish than the current, matte finish in the brand’s permament range of eyeshadows. They were easier and more forgiving to work with than a lot of MAC’s eyeshadows, so they were improved and a nice addition to the brand’s range (they’re also available as pan-only for less).
I was hoping they would bring back typographic. It was one of my favorites from the line.
Do you think these will become available as pro pans?
They are!
Oh, good! I really like the look of ripened.
Well, I do suppose it’s a very good thing that I have at least one dupe per shade shown or these could have gotten me in some trouble! Give A Glam, Lens Blur and Ripened are my favorite shades. I actually like that Ripened is more buildable, since this is one I’d have used as a transition shade.
All three are my picks as well.
Even though these are not my shades, or my preferred finish, at least they rate well and with MAC it could be either way.
I was not expecting these to turn out so well! The dark brown and berry are tempting, I appreciate the cooler tones.
Same. I am not even a MAC fan at all, and I am kiiiinda tempted here.
I’m shocked that these performed as well as they did given MAC’s lack of eyeshadow quality over the past… decade. Fun colors too.
Give a Glam is beautiful! I am for sure picking this one up!
I used to take reddish, make me look like I have allergies eye shadows and use as a lip stain. I have never found a coral lippie I liked but ones where I rub the shadow over my lips and top with close. Ripened looks like a possibility, especially with Lancôme Juicy Tubes coming back.
