I would add Bite Beauty and Nars satin lip pencils to the list. I’ve literally used Bite’s matte pencils as moisturizer in a pinch, and Nars Rikugien is always in heavy rotation for me because it’s fairly good at moisturizing.

I don’t have issues with dry lips, nor have I ever found any particular lipstick to be drying, but what *may* be causing any issues could be botanical and/or essential oils. These oils are intended to (ironically) aid in moisture, but sensitivities can also arise. I stick mainly to DS & mid-range for lipsticks, and have only ever had one reaction, which was to a YSL lipstick, bit I don’t know if it was because of an oil, or the added fragrance.

The Revlon Colourburst Lip Butters and UD Revolution lipsticks have worked well on me…but I think the gold start goes to Bloom (Sheer) lipsticks – ones like Tangerine. Those are super hydrating on me and I love them!

Interesting, Givenchy Le Rouge and Guerlain are some of the worst for either sucking the moisture out or my lips sucking their moisture in and showing all of the lip lines I never knew I had unless I wear a lip balm underneath. Some of the most comfortable lipsticks I’ve been able to wear without a balm are revlon lip butters and bite beauty lipsticks with the balm B in the middle. Chanel’s rouge coco shine I can get away with a few hours in and is the most flattering as far as lip lines go.

Almost everyone I’ve heard online swore up and down that YSL rouge volupte shines were super balmy and so comfortable. To me they feel like that when you first put them on but become one of the most drying and uncomfortable after that.

However, it should be noted that any of the issues I have with these lipsticks disappears if I apply some jack black lip balm in the morning before I apply my lipstick. So if your lips are really dry you might just need to invest in some good lip balms.

Too Faced La Creme, Tarina Tarantino, Revlon Lip Butters, Chanel Rouge Coco Shines, Guerlain Rouge G, Burberry Lip Mist are among my favorites for moisture!

Clé de Peau Rouge Enriched Lip Luminizer and Guerlain Rouge G are the two brands that consistently sooth my dry and sensitive lips. I can wear either formula all day, every day without any problems.

My office is so dry that I can barely wear lipstick. The only ones that I’ve had repeated luck with there are Rouge d’Armani and Bite Beauty. Every other formula, even ones that I find lightly hydrating everywhere else, dries out in my office. It’s terrible.

I have the same problem. 🙁 Worse, because the vents where I work are so loud, people tend to cover them up, which makes the air even worse (and makes my allergies flare like nothing else). I usually get around it by re-balming every couple of minutes, but the winter months are definitely a struggle that finds me forced to wear opaque glosses and tinted balms when I need a break.

Surprisingly – I have to give this one to em Cosmetics sheer formula lipsticks.
They are unscented (part of what dries out my lips) and velvety smooth, It was a rather nice surprise.

Second would have to be one of the CG and one of the Maybellne formulas as a tie. I have yet to find a truly high end that stays on but doesn’t dry my lips out.

In general, lippies are the MOST difficult product for me to find.

Without being overly shiny, I really like the Lancome Rouge in Love lipsticks for hydration. The Chanel Rouge Allure Intense also is surprisingly hydrating for a long-lasting lipstick.

Rouge d’Armani is the absolute best for me. i always have to wear lip balm, but if i forget to bring it with me, i can put on an armani lipstick and be fine. my lips can get really dry and even the deep, dark armani shades don’t show it!

Guerlain Rouge/Shine automatique– forever favorite.
YSL volupte sheer candy — VERY slippery and hydrating!
of course recommend Rosebud salve/lip balm to lay underneath.

Agreed. They are the most comfortable lip products I’ve ever worn. Unfortunately, longevity suffers because of the balmy texture, but pigmentation is excellent, especially with the Hydra Chic.

All of Catrice’s lipsticks, my favourite brand for lipsticks. I have to remember NOT to apply a lip balm underneath, because they are very moisturising by themselves – and still pigmented and lightweight.

Tom Ford lipsticks, Buxom lipsticks and Nars Satin Lip Penciils are moisturizing and very pigmented. Mac’s Minerialize Rich lipstick is nice too but much more sheer than the ones previously mentioned IMO. On the drugstore side, I highly recommend Milani lipsticks. They have a strong fragrance (like Watermelon candy to me) but they are very moisturizing.

I don’t like the lipstick, either, (what is with its smell?) but I do like the Apocalips/Show Off formula! I don’t know if the latter is a liquid lipstick or a gloss, the shimmers are very shimmery and have good pay off, though.

It cosmetic brand is number 1 for me , my lips are very dry and i used most all brand name of lipstick finally it costmetic is the best and also last all day long .

I like Chanel Rouge Coco Shine,YSL Rouge Volupte, YSL Rouge Pur and Almay liquid lip balm for moisturizing lip color. When my lips are dry I tend to use these products.

The best (maybe the only?) drugstore lipstick for dry lips is Sonia Kashuk Satin Lux Lip Color SPF 16 in Nude Pink (82), imo. I have Barely Nude (81) too, but Nude Pink seems more moisturizing.

it needs no lip balm underneath, and it actually applies better without it. Using an invisible lipliner also helps keep it in place. Since the lipstick has Avobenzone, it has broad spectrum protection too, so I know I am protecting my lips from the aging effects of the sun.

Best part is that it is only around 10 dollars. 🙂

I was searching for a corner to tell you and this is best place ….
I CANTTTT thank you enough for BUXOM full bodied …
the other day I was wearing it and hubby came pretty close to me and said ” hmmmm nice GLOSS” and I replied , its lipstick .. he then corrected me , “NO , it is gloss” ahhahaha
i was like noooo its lipstick and is glossy 😛 hahahah my god , you should have seen his expressions 😀
i loved the confused face …..

and so glad i picked marc jacobs too 😀

jumping with joy

for me , I love love love loveeeeee LANCOME rouge in Love lipsticks .. very light weight , pigmented , long lasting , hydrating and moisturizing :d
Christine , we all need your one review for lancome , you know ” SEAL of APPROVAL ”
take your time , no hurry but I am sure we all readers would love to see that on you

I also like revlon lip butters 😀

Chantecaille Lip Chic
Dior Addict
Dior Addict Extreme (Especially Incognito, a minky-pink that actually improves the condition of my lips when worn)

But, I almost always still use AmorePacific Moisture Bound Lip Treatment underneath all lip products. It just makes my lips look healthier and feel much more comfortable.

Lipstick Queen lipsticks. They are moisturizing and long-lasting, and they work as “lip therapy” for me. I sleep in Medieval.

Having tried Lipstick Queen Endless Summer in Stoked, I found it quite drying actually! Glad the lipsticks work for you though; apart from Medieval, which colours/collections do you recommend?

The previous Urban Decay formula, Milani HD Advance, Almay’s twistable lip pencils.

The one Rouge G I have is not particularly moisturizing, I’d put Rouge Automatique higher and probably the one Shine Automatique I have at the top, when it comes to Guerlain.

Chanel Rouge Allure formula!! Hands down!

MAC Mattes are also nice. I know it doesn’t sound moisturizing, but I find it is the most moisturizing of the MAC lip formulas. As an added bonus, they are super long lasting and looks like a stain after a while (without drying my lips out!)
